You can't be serious with this? If Bill came in and continually swept the Pats, went on to have success with the Jets, it would be an embarrassingly bad look on the organization. He could also poach some players like Parcells did to the Pats and BB did in the early 2000's. The Pats don't have much to poach, but just another thought.
It would be the late 90's all over again when the Jets would torment the Pats going 4-2 against them with two consecutive wins (1998 and especially 1999) in Foxboro on MNF. He had to take his poor decision of running Parcells away and promoting Grier by throwing Carroll under the bus.
Bill coming back into the division with a somewhat talented team is Bob's worst nightmare.
That is assuming Belichick stayed with the Jets long term and he found a QB. Belichick is likely going to break Shula's record and retire unless he is coaching a team that is a Super Bowl contender. The Jets need a new QB. Rodgers is a problem. All you have to do is look at his INT to Gilmore on Sunday. The ball was so poorly underthrown that Gilmore had to drop to the ground to catch it.
Again, I don't see him going to any team longer than a couple of years. And if he goes to the Jets, he likely would play the Pats 3 times or less before he retired. We ain't going to see 20 years of the Belichick Jets beating the Patriots.
And based on his last few years with the Pats, who is to guarantee he would even have a winning record against the Patriots by the time he retired.
I think it is all a moot point because I don't see him ever going to the Jets. I think it is a pipe dream to think it would happen this year.
And who exactly would Belichick poach that we don't want to lose? Most of the guys the Pats would want to keep are locked up.
