So rushing out to sign Okorafor was a smart... I'm going to need you to say it.

Bill brought in Calvin Anderson and some broken down vet from Chicago who played like three preseason snaps before he was injured for the season but collected his guaranteed $ five million. Riley Reiff. Or Rieff.

I never had to figure it out.

Gonzo is already a very good NFL corner, and he seeems to get better every game. There is NO on-the-field evidence whatever to this point , aside from a few preseason snaps, that drafting Maye was either a good or a bad draft pick. Reports out of practice have been positive and trending consistently upward. Let's not throw a blanket over the few actual bright spots we have.
Indeed, if the OL was decent, it seems obvious that Maye would be starting. This season would feel completely different. We’d probably be talking about Drake and receivers.

That's a 42 minute clip care to point out what you're actually talking about?
Giardi pretty much echoed what I picked up on about Mayo and Covington, who he called Mayos hand picked guy, blaming players and saying the scheme and calls are good. He added that Mayo blames the scheme on offense and pointing out that Wolf hired the staff. Implying Mayo is protecting his guy and throwing wolfs under the bus.

Bill picked Mac Jones, he let Meyers walk and signed a broken down Juju. Nobody else did that.

No the dysfunction I was referring to are events such as MP admitting he had no idea what he was doing, then switching to O'Brien as OC before telling him he can't bring in his own staff, Klemm publicly fighting with a Patriots staffer and then apparently quitting on the team and Bill refusing to talk to his first round draft pick QB.
I don't know why this issue still resonates. Bill Belichick showed himself to be the game's greatest coach ever over many years. Then, for whatever reason, he became an angry, vindictive fool who put narcissistic self-regard and old-boy horseshit ahead of "what is best for the team" and became an obvious burden. He was for many years a quirky but effective GM, but by the end he was the worst GM in the league, driving the team to such a dismal state that we have yet to recover. When reality changes, perception must change as well. What Bill was and what he became are two very different things. The only alternative to acknowledgment of this is such refuge in delusion as we see in posts here from time to time.

Coaching is not better right now that is laughable.
We're only talking about last year right? The coaching was dreadful last year and yes I expect it to be better this season.
STs is better I'll grant you that.
Back up QB too
TE2 so far Hooper hasn't been any better than Gesicki. Gesicki actually had a better reception per game last year than Hooper currently. But I'd call it a tie for now but I expect Hooper to pass him hopefully.
Hooper is the better player IMO and it will show.
RB2 was our leading receiver last year so far Gibson has not been better than Zeke.
Zeke wasn't that great, we didn't resign him for a reason. Gibson ought to be an upgrade.
And RB1 is regressing and can't hold the ball anymore.
Unfortunately true. Not sure why
Secondary is better because of Bill's selection doesn't really help your case.
This is just this team vs last year's team. We didn't have Gonzalez for the majority of last year.
We dealt with plenty of injuries last year I don't except that as an excuse.
Not injuries at Barmore's level that have crippled what was supposed to be a strength of this team.
Nice try tho. You are a clown and since you have nothing good to talk about with this new staff and new players you just run around carrying on with the dumbest debate ever created (TB vs BB) because for some reason you get enjoyment out of pissing off your fellow Patsfans members.
No, just the folks who insist Bill is above all criticism even after the mess of the last couple of seasons... and there is plenty of that here. Weird that you're taking it personally lol

I already said Bill lost me for good when his arrogance gave us MP/JJ to ruin run the offense and our second year QB. And the Bill lovers even saw nothing wrong with that. Lmao. We are here because of nearly all his roster inherited by JM and the rest of the staff. Nobody else's. Certainly not some CoLLaBoRATiOn.

He also said Mayo likes to throw out blame then at the end throw in an obligatory “but it starts with me” and that he has developed a habit of saying “I’m not going to make excuses” then proceeds to make a bunch of excuses.
That part was kind of harsh 30 days in.

Why would we be only talking about last year? I'm more interested in this year but if we're going to use past references I see no reason to pigeon that to only one year.

I read all that and basically the only thing you can still point out that is better this year is that Bill's selection Gonzalez is healthy this year.

Anderson contracted Malaria… I guess you saw that coming? Provide me with the winning powerball numbers for this weekend while you’re at it.

Then stop talking about the past… nobody cares. Talk about 2024 and explain how decisions made this off-season were smart. Should be good for a laugh…

Why would we be only talking about last year?
You tell me.
Everything is worse than last year except backup QB. Can you point to a single thing done to clean anything up?

Point is the roster that the current regime inherited is a total mess sans Maye who we know nothing about yet. No point complaining that this wasn't a single season turnaround. That was never happening. Even Bill at his very best couldn't do that.

It is fascinating to read the most cynical takes about the 2024 Pats year coming from the biggest BB supporters. Almost like they're hoping the team fails out of spite. Very strange.

Shouldn't they all be Mayo's guys? I never liked the idea of collaboration and it appears you may be finding some cracks already. I really hope this isn't the case. And hopefully we can pull off some wins vs some easier opponents and slow this down before implosion.

You tell me.

Point is the new regime did little to nothing to turn this around this year. They are kicking the can and I don't like it. You clearly don't like it and instead of choosing to analyze it you have resorted to your old game of how can I piss people off by crapping all over the dynasty.

The excuse making for the current regime is pathetic, this is how franchises descend into doormat status. Front office’s that don’t know **** and fanbases that accept mediocrity as “rebuilding.”

We’re back to being the Billy Sullivan Patriots.

It's one month into the season. I am not jumping to conclusions about anything until they've been in their roles for at least a year.

And yeah the roster that they inherited was a flaming smelly pile. Even if your hoodied hero was the one that put it together.

****, it appears you're finding a few cracks. It's too soon for this stuff to be happening we really need a few wins or this could go really bad quickly.

I'm still going to stick my head in the sand and choose not to believe this. I really thought the collaboration was at least getting along and I really hope Giardi is reaching.

I think it’s human nature when an organization sucks that CYA starts.
Mayo is going to do everything he can to prove he’s not the problem, so that means putting blame on the players he didn’t choose and the coaches he didn’t choose. “How can it be me if you gave me bad players and inept coaches?”
Wilf will have no choice but to blame Mayo. If Maye doesn’t play until the season is over and then does Ok, Mayo held the kid back, if Polk has a few good games, Wallace plays decent in December, then it’s Wolf fighting back with my draft was great, he just didn’t coach them up.

The problem is we screwed the whole thing up by not aggressively improving the roster in the off season. The last 2 games are exactly what I feared all off season. If we end up 2-15 or so, there will be no “collaboration” there will blaming and CYA.

He may be. Personally I think Mayo is over his head and Wolf weighed isn’t very good at his job or Kraft doomed him with the budget.

Peeling off the scab early and correcting course is better than taking 3-4 years of dismal teams to start over.

But you are jumping to conclusions. Your conclusion is it's all Bill's fault. You are stuck on that default for some reason and it's not getting any less annoying. And continues to make you look (not so smart to put it lightly).

He was - genuinely - the best coach ever until his last couple of years. He was never a great GM. In the end, he was a failed GM and a failing coach. It happens. In one manner or another, it happens to everyone. Sic transit gloria mundi.

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

I think he was a leader among GM's till the early teens. He was the first one to master the salary cap, to cut stars before they started fading, to get a pick swap rather than just give up a pick, to trade for next year picks, to emphasize depth in team building. Things we all take for granted now, BB pioneered. He was a step ahead of everyone for years and years.

Agreed.

We took a lot of things for granted. And it's hard to cope with things now because of how good we had it for so long.
