QBs can make their OLs look great by getting rid of the ball and moving in the pocket.
The pats prioritized oline for Bradys whole stint here. Reason: Brady was pretty much immobile accept moving in the pocket. People whined on no WR when they led the league in scoring at times with: (1) a good oline, (2) RBs that bank out short yardage money plays, and catch the ball, plus a slot WR and lasytly TE(s) that could block and catch. WR was the last thing they needed. I wouldn't say Brady made the oline better, but he could get rid of the ball if the opponent pressured. That's game planning.Brady made his OL's look better than they really were (particularly his T's), but they were nowhere near as bad collectively as these guys are.
I think you're misunderstanding his point. He's not saying the line doesn't suck. He's saying that not playing a QB because the line sucks is media driven and not how it really works.Brissett playing over Maye is a combination of a few things...
1) Maye was/is a very raw prospect and played at a smaller school (not as NFL ready).
2) The realization we are still in a rebuild - so we dont need to play our "best chance at winning" QB
3) The dismal state of our OL. I absolutely disagree that this OL issue is "media driven"... Jets game was hard to watch.
I am generally a fan of "trial by fire" but in this case lets wait a few weeks. We all know we are a bottom-half (at best) team, so lets develop him right and if/when season is "lost" we can throw him in there for development.
how many turnovers does mac jones have this year? how about brisket?I stopped reading right there Mac Jones is better than Brissett what does that tell you??
If you go and re-watch old games starting in the 1st Dynasty, you'll see how poor the T's were whiffing on good to elite defenders. Matt Light struggled badly against the NFL's best and was helped by scheme/Tom. Aaron Schobel and Jason Taylor were two guys in the division alone who routinely ate his lunch. Nate Solder in particular was exposed once he left NE. That guy was chasing a lot of whiffed defenders that went unnoticed because of Tom's footwork and quick decision making. The pats prioritized oline for Bradys whole stint here. yea the o-line has issues. that's beyond question. Maye not being ready is the driver on him not playing. Or the key driver anyway. Certainly the line is a consideration in the mix, but Maye won't sit if/when he's deemed ready. He won't be fully ready this year, but likely close enough. Coaches will want to get him some experience this year to build off that in the off-season.I think you're misunderstanding his point. He's not saying the line doesn't suck. He's saying that not playing a QB because the line sucks is media driven and not how it really works.
11 QBs picked in 1st and 2nd rounds from 21 to 23. Looks like Stroud is only franchise QB out of them. Of the rookies that started so far this year, only Daniels looked good.Absolute BS! I guess you enjoy watching Brissett misery loves company.
The Chiefs have had all kinds of OL trouble. Why the Chiefs' offensive line has been struggling in recent weeksQBs can overcome some OL deficiency but NO on the make OLs look great if they are not.
HC.The Chiefs have had all kinds of OL trouble. Why the Chiefs' offensive line has been struggling in recent weeks
Last year they only won the Super Bowl. This season the problems continue, but KC is 3 - 0. Take a guess why?
You are betting the diamond mine on Lardassian Lowe? Seriously? While I agree, I think that we need to wait until Lowe comes back.
Daniels played for FIVE years and 55 games in college. Maye played 30. So Daniels played 25 more games in college than Maye. After watching Jayden on Monday, we gotta question whether we got the right coaching staff to develop a young QB. Jayden looked comfortable in that offense. I don't think Washington has the greatest OL and weapons but they're making it work with Jayden. Kingsbury, for all the crap he got while being the HC at Arizona, seems to be in sync with his young QB.
If a QB sucks, he's going to suck no matter when you throw him out there.I agree. Even though he made some plays in his cameo, he was clearly nervous and made some bad throws. There is zero upside to throwing him out there if that is where he is at right now.
The NFL is littered, every year, with teams playing rookie QBs that are not ready, purely to appease fans or buy time for their job, only to see them get broken and thrown out 2 or 3 years later.
Brady made millionaires on the OL.If you go and re-watch old games starting in the 1st Dynasty, you'll see how poor the T's were whiffing on good to elite defenders. Matt Light struggled badly against the NFL's best and was helped by scheme/Tom. Aaron Schobel and Jason Taylor were two guys in the division alone who routinely ate his lunch. I think Mayo is a bit indecisive and moreso suffers from verbal diarrheaPerhaps Mayo is confused.
Woody was pretty darned good as was Mankins.Brady made millionaires on the OL.
Solder never did 5hit for the NY Giants. The only guy to pan out has been Thuney.
You need an entire operation for that though. The NE OL is the scapegoat.
QBs can make their OLs look great by getting rid of the ball and moving in the pocket.
So your argument is that Daniels is better because he has experience so therefore we shouldn’t give Maye experience.Daniels played for FIVE years and 55 games in college. Maye played 30. So Daniels played 25 more games in college than Maye.
