AVP is a JAG. The Pats have the 31st ranked offense - again! I see nothing thus far that makes me want to keep him. No trick plays or no huddle to produce a spark.

Covington is OK, but the NE defense is still mostly BBs guys and scheme. I expected the Pats to have a good defense.

Mayo knows nothing about being an NFL HC. He will get at least 4 years in NE to get something going.

In preseason, it was reported that AVP rejects pre-snap motion.
Has this been the case 3 games into the season?

Note: Pats are 32nd in offensive yds/game (246 yds)

AVPs QB is a JAG
That is the problem
Bill Inherited Parcells and Pete's guys on Defense.
Start Drake then we have a chance

It seems more like insanity. The OL talent is really bad, yet the HC expects better play? Blaming players is very unprofessional.

Like last season, I expect the wheels to fall off soon when the real contending teams round into form.

They have overachieved at 1-2 right now, but I expect the wheels to fall off soon when the real contending teams round into form.
Bill often said that as well. You can only reshuffle the line up so much. When the secondary was atrocious those years Bill was saying guys have to play better there as was no savior coming. It's no difference now. No hero is coming. Either they play better or we continue to suck on the O-line.

It all starts up front. Wolf did a horrendous job in the off-season. And I remember how so many posters thought Brissett was the answer. Absolutely bizarre.

It will round into it's true form once the contenders knock the dust off. The rails fell off this defense against contending teams starting in week 4 of last season.

That's a really long time. What if he has 2 straight losing seasons with similar records? Do do you think Bob still keeps him. I think the clock gets accelerated if Bill comes back to a contending team and does well. That will make Bob look really bad....again.

The Pats have played three very good defensive teams and # 4is on Sunday.
This has contributed to offense looking like crap.
I do like the idea of trying to get players to take some accountability

I don't think there was a single poster who said he was the answer.

I thought he would at a minimum be better than Mac/Zappe and that having knowledge of AVPs system would be helpful. I think others had similar thoughts but no one expected anything other than a bridge.

Turns out I was wrong he apparently is worse than Mac/Zappe were. If this doesn't improve soon I think they'll be forced to play Maye and I think they wanted that to be a choice and not forced.

I want Maye to play, but that OL is horrendous.

I thought all pieces of the FO/HC were on the same page whatever that page might be. We'll see more of Maye now, for better or worse.
If he plays behind the current OL, it'll be for worse. We can only hope that he doesn't get hurt, let alone injured. I think Maye is wired differently than Jones in a good way (significantly more mental toughness), and he has the physical abilities that Jones didn't and will never have. They certainly have their work cut-out for them next off-season between FA and the Draft. Let's hope they make the right moves AND Maye is and stays healthy.

Were there ever McPherson or Rust guys?

I have no doubt there were 'Rust guys' on that mid 80's D when he was the DC here. That was a pretty tight bunch on the defensive side of the ball.
As a HC? You might not find anybody willing to admit they ever played for him lol

Do you recall the Caroll years? Some of us certainly do and take our word for it, there were no "Pete guys" the way there were Parcells & Belichick guys.
I do. . I was just referring to triumphs post. Bill inherited Parcells and some of Pete's guys to begin His HC tenure.

You're missing the point, again there were no "Pete's Guys" they were Grier guys and damn few of 'em at that.
