If Lowe can stay healthy, they will probably try him a RT where he played better in TC before benching or cutting him.

I think we will probably saw the following line against SEA:

Lowe - Jordan - Andrews - Onwenu - Okorafor
Agreed or Wallace on the right side. I think chuks got benched for Wallace.?

It felt better but we didn’t scored much more than what Mac and Zappe were averaging last year.

We played a near perfect game and only scored 16. The win felt great don’t get me wrong. It was a really nice win. I am really happy for Mayo winning his first game a an HC.

Brissett is a backup QB and played like a backup QB yesterday. He hold the fort well, was poised in the pocket. Ran when he needed to even though he probably was running slower than Mac Jones. I thought he would pulled an hammy on one of those. In the passing game is accuracy was atrocious. But that’s what backup QB are doing. They can hold the fort for a few games but if they need to play more you will end up in the L column more often than not.

We still have a very fine margin of error to be able to win games. It’s still the same as the last 3-4 years. Play defense, run the ball, make no mistakes and win low scoring games. That’s not sustainable over a full season. You can win some games like that but it’s hard to be relevant that way.

I am fine with Brissett holding the fort the first 4 games until Drake can gain experience on how to prepare for an NFL game but I don’t see the point keeping playing Brissett more than that and arm strung yourself offensively. This team will need Maye to be able to develop into something more dynamic
I don't think many people are advocating for all season of Brissett. He is exactly what we thought he'd be. The question becomes when does the coaches think Maye is ready to take over? I think Brissett probably needs to lose a couple games and lose his job before that happens, rather than just handing it over to Maye.

The offense yesterday is exactly
what the 2017 Jaguars were and the same on defense. Not saying it Will happen... but that team went to the AFCCG.

Fair point. But just to get maye the experience.

But having looked at Bryce young experiment and the mental breakdown, we might be better advised to delay maye's entry as much as possible. Best case scenario is brissett playing lights out and getting us to postseason or just missing playoffs while helping build and solidify offensive line and the wide receivers.
My goodness, the Carolina game was on at the sports bar. Bryce Young looks ruined (avoiding the "was he ever good" question). Then again, that whole team looks really bad. I'm on "Team Patience" with Maye.

I think we need to "stay the course" and "stick with the plan," but I suspect I may mean something a little different than others in saying so. The focus ought to be on Maye's development. I hope that Brisset plays well enough that his performance plays no role whatsoever in the decision as to when Maye plays. Maye should play whenever a point is reached where playing will benefit his development. * Ideally that will be the sole criterion. This is a rebuild year - 100%. This year is about next year and the years following and about the prospect that we may have our "franchise qb" in house going forward.. I care neither about the record this year nor about Jacoby's feelings in connection with when Maye should play. He should play when it will benefit him to do so...period.

* If the o-line collapses completely in its ability to provide pass protection, we would have to consider that getting beat half to death each week would not likely advance Maye's development.

It was a nice win in the sense that I thought the D looked very good.

BUT you cannot win in the nfl that way. They ran the ball 62% of the time, passed for less than 150 yards, and only scored 16 points. Everything went right and we all know that's not going to happen every week.

Polk- 1 catch for 6 yards. It's still early but that's a very poor performance for their 2nd round draft pick.

edit to add: Sly was a bright spot; I think we are set at punter and kicker for years to come.

You can. I mentioned this before. The 2017 Jaguars were the EXACT same team. A game manager QB, a good run game and solid Defense. Not elite ,but good WRs. That team went 12-4 and made it to the AFCCG. Polk should be starting in this offense.

Only man that can salvage Young is Bill O Brein.
Interesting that Tampas OC who is now Carolina's HC Canales is the NC coach and Mayfield looked sharper than ever under his new OC.

The Rham thing : might be worth it to “win game #1” to get buy in, legitimacy, etc. To the extent that playing Rham maybe more than what is comfortable is worth the gamble on opening day.

I agree with you there. Dont mind it at all here and there but just don’t want 20 plus carries as a weekly thIng. If we’re planning to be this run heavy id hope for Gibson to have double digit carries and hasty to get some work

I think Bortles was much more of a gunslinger QB than a game manager. And was much more prolific in the passing game in his career than Brissett ever was.

The game is also not the same now compare to 2017

I do not know whether this win portends a winning season or even whether I ought to amend my four-win prediction. But it has convinced me that I should abandon my pretty negative take on Mayo's potential as a HC. The team was well-prepared and well-conditioned. They played hard. The in-game decisions and adjustments were in the money, so far as I could tell. I find Mayo's manner of speaking - all the back and forth and the Oprah crap and the self-contradiction - annoying as hell, but the players obviously don't mind a bit, and that is what matters.

I would like to see Gibson more in the passing game, screens, wheels.
He’s not a guy we can run between the tackles like Rhamondre.
Not saying he’s frail but he’s not pushing the pile.

Also am I the only one concerned that Baker and Mayo are going to clash leading to a trade or release?

Exactly this! I would play Maye week 5 if the coaching staff think Maye is ready even if we are 4-0 with Brissett playing like he did yesterday.

While I don't disagree, Mayo has said some things that made it sound like Brissett had to lose the starting job (or Maye win it outright). While it wouldn't be the first time Mayo said something that got walked back, if he's being genuine, than it is dependent on how Brissett performs.
