This one one of the games in the first four that I felt that the Pats could win.
Keion White was a beast on the defense. BUT, the defense started to TIRE. They need a bit more rotation up front to keep the guys fresher.

Special Teams made some nice plays. SCHOOLER really stepped up. He played a really clean game. Cardona with the Forced fumble leading to 3 points was good, but AVP needs to be more aggressive with the offense after those sorts of plays.

Brissett played well, but he missed some wide open guys.. I'd forgotten about how well he could run.
They did spread the ball around, though they had only 24 passing attempts.

99% of this board and all the pundits who don't like Belichick all said last year that the team didn't quit and that they continued to play hard. They cared. They cared a lot. They were playing with the worst QB in football, which is of little help.

I've never rooted against the Pats. I loved their wins against Denver and Pitt.

I knew we needed a new QB and weren't likely to find him in the 6th round again. I saw many plays where they didn't play hard last year, and you could watch the entire team deflate when Corky was lobbing balls to the defensive backs. It was broken and wasn't going to be fixed by half-measures or trying out retreads like Russell Wilson. So no, I don't think they cared last year the way they used to, it's human nature when you're in a bad situation and know it can't get much better for a while.

I didn't "root against" the Pats as much as I "rooted for" them to lose by a last second field goal.

Yes, we have some decisions to be made, likely in the next month, as we have expected. Personally, I would keep Jordan on the 53 NOW. Although unlikely, we don't want him being picked up by another team, after he demonstrated that he can play,
==================
OK. The norm is 3 OT's and 6 IOL's. I think that we have decided to carry 4 OT's for awhile, 2 starters and a backup for each side. We have the 10 OL roster spots on the OL. We have an extra OT.

With regard to IOL's, we have only 5 including Leverett who should be cut. So, if all works out, Jordan and Hudson should be added to the 53.

COMPETING FOR FOUR SPOTS
Onwenu, Wallace, Lowe, Okorafor, Jacobs

COMPETING FOR SIX SPOTS
Sow, Andrews, Robinson
Leverett, Thomas, (Jordan), (Hudson)

Don’t forget strange if he comes back. Is leverett still the backup center? Otherwise id say hes pretty expendable here, though he had trouble at c anyways. Someone mentioned they could try strange at backup c . Could they try him at LT too? Guard could be in pretty nice shape once sow is back even with onwenu considered rt , but my preference is obviously to be able to play him at rg

I want Maye to sit his ass on the bench the whole year if need be. The longer he sits, the better off he and the Pats will be.
Bedard was concerned that Maye did not come over to listen in on the QB discussions on the sidelines when Brissett conferred with the coaches at various timeouts and situations. He thought it was a wasted opportunity to learn. He said Maye stood at midfield seemingly disinterested.

Couple small gripes, rather see Gibson with a few more touches and rham not carrying 25x a game. Obviously you want the ball in rhams hands often but gotta think long term too with his usage. Even hasty should get some carries here and there.

Not sure why there weren’t more screens today. We ran them well in preseason. The one we ran did get sniffed out by cincy and stuffed but it seemed like a good way to neutralize their pass rush.

Wouldve liked a reverse or 2 as well to Thornton and pop. Need to find ways to get the ball in their hands as well.
The Rham thing : might be worth it to “win game #1” to get buy in, legitimacy, etc. To the extent that playing Rham maybe more than what is comfortable is worth the gamble on opening day.

Lucky bounces happen all the time. I’ll take them when they go our way!
Agreed. Those bounces went the other way last season. I'd love the team to come back with another win against the Seahawks. Is Geno Smith the starter?

While they might never make the Madden cover, there are a few guys I really like on this team. Included : Andrews, JJ, Peppers, Gonzalez. Andrews and JJ are solid contributors who might not be flashy. They contribute. They work. They are the types who rarely get hyped. Peppers has been nothing but fantastic since arriving & I was glad he signed. Gonzalez is the starter I think has the brightest future. I hope he and Maye can hoist a trophy together one day.

Something is not right on that team. They should be better than that.
Chase and his contract. Also Higgins is playing without a long-term contract. So you have to wonder just how committed they would be to playing.

White had a great game. 2nd year improvement is always a great sign.

All those players mentioned are all cornerstone players of what the organization will build off. Yesterday just felt like a patriots win from the mid 2000s.. tough running game, touch defense and no mistakes at the QB position leading to TOs. On Peppers it was mentioned from media people Last season that becuase we were so abysmal on offense that it swayed the voters not to give him all pro votes. The attitude, the buy in, the nobody believes in us. That will fuel them until they get back on top.

a conversation I had with a buddy Friday morning:

Did not think they’d actually do it, good for them. Now they can just play.

See told you guys Biscuit was the answer.

I use ourlads for depth charts. They have Thomas listed as a RG
What I’m saying is that THE TEAM lists him as a tackle. When they submitted their inactives list on Sunday, he was noted as a tackle.

Way to go out on a limb DB.

All QBs need time in the game to learn. He and the team would be better off with that happening sooner.

Happy to see them using Wallace and Robinson as well. If those two pan out things will look much brighter.
Saw that too nice way to bring the you guys along. Robinson opened a nice hole on Rham's TD.
