RG Knee could run... How'd that work out?

Burrow, playing his rookie year behind a suspect line, How'd that work out?
RG III never had a NFL body and Burrow is Great regardless Rookies have to take their licks. When you are Drafted number 1 - 2 or 3 you're not coming into Perfection.

I got news for you Brissett is getting three weeks maybe a Month to show he's serviceable. Don't hold your breath on that happening.
Brissett gets as much time or as little time as the team dictates. I cannot do anything about it.

Have even said at some point Maye will take over the starters role.

But - let me emphasize this - Its a bad idea to put Maye behind this line until it gets sorted out. A guy getting injured is one thing. Putting a guy in a position where he is more than likely to get injured is another.

eh... Its a pipe dream anyway. This team isn't going to get Trent Williams to come here.

right.

and when you have the option to not put your guy in harms way because of an elevated risk factor, to me, you do it.

And it’s not just injury risk it’s the risk of developing bad habits from being under siege all the time. Saw this a bit in Jones rookie year.

4 years seems to be the magic number for these big wr deals

you know, that's a great point. Thank you.

I think it makes a lot of sense. Bringing in one of the best LTs in the league allows you to truly evaluate your new QB. You can push out the red alarm at LT for a couple years and try to develop a couple other guys. That $55M is basically the ballpark of one year of the salary of what you will eventually need to pay Maye five years from now in order to get the opportunity to be sure you should pay him.
We could have had Tyron Smith for $6M and sign a $20M a year stud WR for the same money. Smith is years younger. Your idea is OK, but the money involved for an old guy is too high. What if the old guy gets injured (happens often)? You have wasted a lot of cap space.

We totally need a top end EDGE guy.

$55M guaranteed for a 36 year old player? For a team in a 2 to 3 year rebuild? Seems like a huge mistake to me. Why pay for an old guy when the team is barely a playoff team? Maybe for a team like Detroit making a run for a Super Bowl, but I can't see any team in a rebuild taking on that type of a contract.
Hey, I just want to see Thunder spend some of his dough. If we had Williams for a couple years, Maye's back would be ably covered, it's only money, and there's a ****load remaining in the till. Got a third for Judon, I'd be willing to give that up, if the team advances as a coordinated unit, and starts moving up the standings. Don't think it's going to happen, though.

So you would rather pay a 36 years old player over a 32 years old ok. Who do you think is it more for a last payday?? I'm going to guess the 36 years old.
Matthew Judon, not being disrespectful, is not Trent Williams. Trent Williams at 36 is still the best in the league. Do I advocate paying a 36 year old jag LT? Nope. Trent Williams is a HoFer and miles better than anyone on this roster. How many wins is he worth? He shores up the line immediately, and it's the extra third you gained precisely for flexibility, either for roster moves now or as assets on draft day. I'd pay him his money and give up the third. You're immediately better. Infinitely better.

All this to sign the original offer SF gave him months ago. What a drama queen.

I'm not doing it and hope they don't not even in an alternate universe horrible short sighted move any way you look at it.

Getting the best LT in the league is short sighted? C'mon man, you gotta look harder. He's worth, what, 3 or 4 wins simply by shoring up the line? You have a true professional, top of his craft leader protecting your new QB. If he comes here, he's signing on with the Wolfe/Mayo administration. You get immediate credibility in the league. I don't know how old you are, but it's parallel to Reggie White signing in Green Bay years ago. Instant credibility. No more "guys don't want to come here" crap. It changes the fortunes of this team overnight.

90m over 3 years and a 3rd. Where do I sign?

I remember the minister of Defense but as stated by others guys like Trent Williams prefer a contender and not a cellar dweller.

49ers did the right thing by paying him or telling him they are not trading him for this season. Trading him would've been idiotic. I keep thinking back to 2006 and how it reminds me of how much the loss of Deion Branch hurt the Pats. And like Aiyuk, Branch was more valuable to the Pats than another team.

They aren't a cellar dweller with him.

It's all BS anyway. He's not leaving the 49ers.
