We might get shut out.

Agree I feel if this is the best we can do our QB should be alright and not constantly on the run.

Strange - Sow - Andrews - Onwenu - Chuck Oakafor
Why not play Wallace at RT and evaluate him. Chunks is one and done here so should only be playing if there is no other choice, because he also sucks.

If a smart QB has room to step up in the pocket, you can do a lot of cover up sub-par tackle play (most of the time).

The refs finally enforcing the rules about the tackles being on the line of scrimmage is definitely going to make it harder for them. Look for more quick pressure around the edges.

Don’t like it
But what if they feel Robinson can start?? That's not exactly a bad thing though I feel Onwenu best spot is Guard and not Tackle. I don't know why they are playing so much musical cheers along the OL. I think we can field a quality group when all is healthy the possibilities.

Strange - Robinson - Andrews - Onwenu - Chucks Oakafor

Or

Strange - Sow - Andrews - Onwenu - C Wallace

My guess would be Robinson goes in at LG and Onwenu goes back inside to RG. Wallace or Okorafor at RT. This is assuming Lowe is back as well at LT.

I doubt the new tackles will be ready to go week 1.

Hmm dunno if robinson is ready? Looked a bit out of place in the commanders game but im no expert. But yes im more comfortable if onwenu is back at rg and chuks at rt that seemed to work a little better at least in pass protection

I didn’t say they were older than Guy, I said they aren’t young developing players. What they are is cheap.

Cook is only 29, before last year he had 4 straight 1000 yards seasons and never averaged under 4.4 a carry. He offers more than 28 year old 410 career yards Hasty. Even if you doubt that maybe Cook has lost it, what do you lose? When did this fan base change from do everything you can to improve the team to do nothing and accept we won’t go after good players?
They were developing Barmore. It’s unfortunate what happened to him and I wish him a speedy recovery so he can live a healthy life and hopefully get back on the field and dominate.

Pharms is a younger guy they like and will obviously try to develop him. Other guys along the DL (White, Jennings, Uche) are young and will hopefully continue to develop.

The Pats could’ve signed Cook last season but opted for Zeke instead. Cook then signed with the Jets where he proceeded to do f@ck all for 15 games. After that he signed with the Ravens and play sparingly in 1 game before Baltimore made the excruciating decision to part ways with him. Bottom line…he doesn’t have anything left in the tank. If we didn’t want him last year, why would we want the year older version of him?

YIKES! Thats essentially the lineup vs Washington with andrews in. I don’t think he can offset that nightmare hopefully sow is healed up in time they just said it wasn’t major.

They had a semi-equal 3 man rotation and lost one of the 3, and didn’t replace him. So even with Barmore they are undermanned.
Pharos is not a young guy he is 27 and has played 90 NFL snaps. He went to Friends university and played in the arena league and usfl before landing on our practice squad as a 26 year old. What does “they like him” mean? How does that say anything about him? The worst player in the league is in a team that likes him. There is absolutely no reason to believe at 27 years old that this guy can play in the NFL and you are arguing he is the reason we shouldn’t sign a capable starter to an open starting position where we have no one. Not sure what young edge players have to do with ignoring the DT spot.

Maybe he doesn’t have anything left in the tank, but maybe he does. He was one of the best RBs in the league before last year. What’s to lose? We have numerous players on the 53 man that are useless. Few people on the roster have a chance to ever be as good as he was just the year before last. Do you really think the 4 guys claimed off waivers are so valuable we couldn’t take a shot at an all pro, when we have no all pros? Bizarre logic.

Cook didn't even get signed to the 53 he's on a PS so any team could still claim him if they wanted to.

How did we get younger at DT? We don’t have any young developing players.
And we lost Barmore.

Nothing to lose by bringing Cook in and finding out. Plenty of RBs had bad years and bounced back, he’s young. Why wouldn’t we try? Are we afraid Jamichael Hardy wouldn’t have a spot?
Cook wasn't going to come here for a practice squad spot like he did in DAL. No state tax there and just a better, more desirable situation. I don't think a team in our position should be bidding over the rest of the market on guys like that.

I don't disagree with you that they should have been more proactive in adding players, but I think they should have gone with the Antonio Gibson and Takitaki routes. Sign guys to modest multi year deals that you think have some runway to grow still. You can get out of those deals with little penalty if they flop, but if they stick then you've build up some good depth for multi years and some of them may even break out in a bigger way.

IMO, the 1 year gamble on bounce back guys are better served on contending teams. In a rebuild situation, those guys don't do much for me. If they work out, ok great, they still don't move the needle for you record wise and now you have the same roster hole next year. I'd much rather try to plug holes for the longer term through draft picks or good value FA signings on players your scouting department identifies as good fits in the scheme. That's how I would approach FA as a rebuilding team.

Brissett is barely an improvement.
WR is unknown.
RB is not better. Elliot is better than Gibson. At best it’s a non-significant difference.
TE is not better. Gesicki is better than Hooper.
Again all of these are in the best possible slant, minor improvement, and it relies on rookies being good as rookies.
OL worse.

I do understand how bad the offense was and even in the must optimistic outlook it is only marginally better.

But the only real attempt at improving was using the draft picks they were awarded. That’s not an effort to improve.

They left 50 mill on the table and the best they could do was
1 yr 8 mill qb who sucks
1 yr 4 mill WR
1 year 4 mill T
Aging TE at what? Vet minimum?

That’s not trying.
I feel dirty for saying this, but I agree with ring 6 . They did not try to improve the team, it was intentional to see what they have in young players within a new offense. Next year is the year I can see them getting aggressive in FA and if they don't I will be in the boat with ring and woz. I have tried to be positive and this is the only thing that seems reasonable to me. Ring and Wozzy have brought up some good points, they have also had ****takes and I am not talking about the mushroom.

Why wouldn’t he come here? Offer more than a practice squad spot.
Why shouldn’t we be trying to get good players? What position are we in that we shouldn’t want to get better players than we have?

Gibson and Takitaki are backup players who are never going to be more. Sure deity is important but we need talented starting players. Takitaki hs a 29 year old backup signed for 2 years. Thats not a build for the future move. It’s a fill the roster for cheap move.

We have 17 games to play this year. We are going to get slammed in most of them. It didn’t have to be this way, we had $50,000,000 to spend which could have signed multiple players and put us in a position where we are competitive and when a player comes up that could help us we would be encouraged to get that guy to make us better, but instead they have turned the fan base into what you are essentially saying, don’t bother getting players we are so bad they won’t help, let’s just give up.
They duped you by not spending money into believing spending money is pointless.

Why would you wait until next year? Why wouldn’t you get good players who can grow with your team instead of fielding half a team and needing to do 2 years of improvement in one?

As we progress through this 2-3 win season, everyone will be realizing what I have already seen.
And next year when Kraft won’t spend on players, then what?
