Patriots Player Departure OFFICIAL 2024 Patriots Roster Cutdown Day Discussion

This a bad team, but that's ok.

This line might be complicit of murder by the end of the year, but really the goal for the year should be finding any gems and cultivating them.

Maybe the defense will keep some games close, but this will be a very difficult season.

Take a few minutes to look at that defense. Wow. Speed and thumpers at every level. Edge rushers and Linebackers are all interchangeable. The secondary is loaded with talent at both corners and safeties. Barmore coming back could be huge. I hope he's alright. The defense can certainly keep this team in games.

If the offensive line can just give the skill players that extra couple of seconds to do their thing, this team with Drake Maye can put up enough points to make this an interesting season. I've posted elsewhere about how critical it is to grab one or two veteran OTs off the cutdown and waiver lists to strengthen the pass blocking.

While the quality is not pro-bowl level, an experienced NFL OT who is healthy has to be better than what we saw against the Commanders. There are a number of OTs looking for work this afternoon.

If Spotrac is correct on team cap space, the New England Patriots have over $39 million available to spend and are second in the NFL. They should go after any OT they can who can do the job and spend whatever it takes.
The homer prediction thread is a few threads down….

Seriously though, that’s not out of the realm of possibility even though I think it’s not the most likely scenario. The defense does look talented, but the one real unknown is that the mastermind is gone and we don’t know if Mayo and Covington will be able to produce reasonably similar results there.

Very interested to see where the snaps go after Pop & Polk.
I think the starting two WRs will be either Thornton and Polk or Thornton and Osborn, and then Pop will come on the field in the slot when they expand to 3 receivers.

Reagor backs up Thornton as the speed guy, Boutte can back up Polk/Osborn or Pop. Baker is probably not gonna see a lot of play for a while as he still needs some work.

I don’t know what they do when Bourne is healthy and returns but maybe someone else is hurt by then anyway.

Imo the first rd pedigree goes out the door after 4 full ineffective years in the league . At this point we know what reagor is as a wr. Its a very minor gripe to have but just not a fan of the selection
Feel they are gearing up to get on waiver claim.

Hill, dial, hasty followed by Reagor / Boutte are cut candidates .so there should be at least 4 more cuts and 4 new additions via waiver.

I think when Bourne is healthy they evaluate which of the WRs needs to go.
If Reagor, Boutte, Thornton, Osborn, are all performing then they look to trade Bourne before the deadline.

If they aren’t getting results from 1 or one of our WRs or more is out with a injury they welcome Bourne back with open arms.

I’m hoping Maye is the starter by week 8.

I’m sure they are going into the start of the season with Brissett as the starter.
I love the man, but the player needs to show me something and keep things at least close.

I am kind of curious if one of these WRs on the roster (or more than one) gets traded. There are a few solid guys that got cut and can be claimed on waivers. NE might want to pick them up instead and flip their guy for a late rounder next year.

Pop should not come off the field very often. He's our number 1.

Everything after that is up in the air.

Polk looks like he's probably our second best but the collaborative seems to be hesitant to go with rookies too early.

So I think at least to start the year Osborn and Thornton will be 2nd and 3rd.

I expect Polk will pass them pretty quickly. And then it's on Osborn and Ty to do enough before Bourne gets back and takes even more reps from them.

Baker will probably be in that mix somewhere too.

After that I don't see much of a role for Reagor and Boutte other than KR. I think they probably should have just picked one but I guess that can wait until after a waiver claim.

Typing "Barmore" in a Google search box is less taxing than your plea for others to solve your mysteries
Yeah, that's helpful.

Tyquan made the 53.....oh boy...Did you see something I missed?
I’m with you …..I saw little to nothing out of Thornton all preseason. That combined with his injury history and ability to fade into obscurity when he is healthy makes me wonder what they are seeing in him that we can’t see. The analysts out there said it was because he is the only one who has the speed to be a deep threat…..only wish we had an OL that could provide enough time for our QBs to air one out!!!!

If we start two WR's, why do we need more than 4 to be active including your three possible starters plus Reagor? Henry, Gibson and Hasty are all capable receivers and can line up as WR's.
