His salary and term reflect what the league thinks of him.I think Brisset should get a fair chance before he is labeled as “terrible”. He had one bad preseason game. Means nothing.
He is not winning a super bowl but he does not “stink”.
He is tough and experienced.
4 wins look like a lock so were looking at 4 more wins.In the Mayo era?
4 wins is the ceiling. There isn’t a game on the schedule they would be favored in.4 wins look like a lock so were looking at 4 more wins.
First off, there will be no one injured on the teams the Pats face this season. Everything will go as planned for every opponent because that's the way the NFL works. There are never any surprises and the Pats will face all the original starters in 17 games.4 wins is the ceiling. There isn’t a game on the schedule they would be favored in.
Just for laughs who are your 4 guaranteed wins?
And the patriots will have injuries too. They will be lucky to beat 2 of those teams.First off, there will be no one injured on the teams the Pats face this season. 4 wins
1. Seattle has to travel coast to coast with a brand new HC.
2. Jacksonville and Lawrence have been a disappointment.
3. Tennessee is starting over like NE.
4. Arizona Im not impressed with Kyler Murray.
Maye aint no BurrowsJoe Burrow got sacked 14 times in his first three games, and 22 times in his first five. He got injured later that season, but no one would ever suggest he lost his confidence. He almost won the Super Bowl the very next season.
There are good reasons to sit Maye, at least for the first month or so, but good players don't get ruined by a handful of games.
Superbowl or bustWe're taking preseason stats seriously? Yikes

It happens. Every team hits bottom at some point. My problem is we didn’t make an effort to improveHow the mighty have fallen
Well hopefully he is more durable.Maye aint no Burrows

Except for the fact that they did draft and acquire OT's.
Brissett is here becuase of AVP, it's his offense and his comfort with Brissett. Brissett is what he is, he's a backup QB and could start if needed. I feel the same way you do. However I've resigned to the fact Brissett will start.. but I have this feeling he won't be for long. The positive we can take is Drake has developed quicker than the organization has realized he would. That's a great sign. Zapp is a veteran who likely doesn't have any other value to another team more than he would in NE. I see him on the roster as the emergency QB behind Milton. This is the first year of the reset. It's all about maye, Polk and baker and also mayo and his staff putting thier stamp on the culture going forward. The sad truth is that the Patriots have already made a BIG MISTAKE.
In March they said: let's sign an experienced, reliable back-up quarterback. He will:
1. Win us some games
2. Act as a mentor
3. Protect an inexperienced quarterback, especially if our O-line isn't strong
The trouble is that Brissett is so bad he won't win games. His inaccuracy and slow decision-making will lose games and hold back the development of the offense.
As for the other two things, $7 million will buy you a lot of quarterback coaching (and you've already got an OC, a QB coach, a special offensive coaching assistant and lord knows what else -- how many more people does Maye need breathing down his neck?). And, if you needed a crash-test dummy to play the position, you had Mac Jones.
If it were me, I'd cut Brissett tomorrow and go with the other three quarterbacks on the roster. If you don't think Maye is ready to start and you don't have any confidence in your O-line, start Zappe. At least he's better than Brissett.
But this won't happen because it would involve whoever pushed for the signing (AVP?) admitting he made a mistake -- and that won't happen in an organization where everyone is new and under scrutiny.
Even though our defense is more than capable.. I don't want to put so much pressure on them like Last season.. the offense is going to have to do something.. be middling.. 13th, 14th.. ranked. I mean in today's NFL where goodell has made it's dam near impossible for offenses not to score. They need to get off to a good start against Cincy.. week 1s can always go anyway.5 Chargers are coast to coast with Herbert nursing a foot injury in December cold weather.
6 Rams are banged up coast to coast too.
7 Bills lost so many people from the 23 team and Allen and McDermott are on the ropes. Allen won't get cut or traded but Choker status is hanging over his head.
8 Tua is fragile as glass and somehow made it through last season only to choke.
Its been so long since the Pats had a real NFL QB that weve forgotten what that is like.Even though our defense is more than capable.. I have to admit. Watching greatness at the position for so long...and seeing the NAVY offense last season was so uninspiring. I'll take a 11th ,12th ranked defense with a 11th and 12th ranked offense respectively...Its been so long since the Pats had a real NFL QB that weve forgotten what that is like.
Last season, the 31st ranked offense missing Judon and Gonzalez produced 4 wins.
The offense won’t be much, if any better, and the defense is going to be a lot worse. Its been so long since the Pats had a real NFL QB that weve forgotten what that is like.
