OT: Minnesota Vikings Eyeing Trade for Mac Jones as Quarterback Upgrade

Jacksonville will not trade him. He is a very good backup.

He's clearly just taking a shot and saying what Mac does right is because of my coaching and what he does wrong is him reverting.

Good luck with that. I didn't hate his first year in New England, but the cheap shots he took against defenders soured me fast.

I wish him no ill will on his journey. I'm glad he's gone.

I am not a fan of Bill O'Brien. I think he did a terrible job here. At least the results were bad. No doubt about it.

However, had had an accomplished track record, and has had success his first stint here and at all his subsequent stops before returning to New England. We should have out performed the Patricia offense by leaps and bounds just based on his proven ability to run a pro level offense. We didn't.

Mac Jones and his failings exacerbated whatever else was wrong with the team last year is the point.

BOB was a political football in the middle of the power struggle between Thunder & son, and our now departed coach. He didn't stand a chance last year, imo. Consequently, everybody stunk from the top down. Mr. Peppers enunciated the struggle quite clearly.

More than a little hyperbolic there Sam.

Mac was potentially on the road to becoming a very good game manager his rookie season (btw, calling an effective QB a "game manager" is not a slur imho.) POTENTIALLY he could have been the kind of QB who could lead a very good team to the Super Bowl. But he did show his limitations during his time here. He is NEVER going to be a QB who can "carry" a team on his back. A limited arm and most importantly, (to me at least) he didn't seem to respond well to adversity.

Granted he wasn't given a great coaching situation after Josh left, but, in the right situation I viewed him as a guy who COULD become a useful NFL starter in the right situation and more maturity as gets older. If he were here now, I believe he would be winning the QB competition. I said on many occasions that many of Bill's decisions with Mac played a large role to Mac's failure to develop after 2021, but Mac blameless either. I was pretty much a universal opinion after last season that Mac had to go before it ruined both him and the team if he stayed.

As for it been the biggest "embarrassment" in Pats history? No way. I know as we grow older, Sam, we tend to start to forget things. But as someone who went to a game with his Dad at BU that first season and endured the entire Sullivan ownership fiasco, I believe you can probably think of a dozen more embarrassing moments than this POTENTIAL one

Could be the offense and the calls he makes at the line, or his mechanics/footwork. Pederson comes from the WC tree.

Yup, he is an OK backup QB with NFL experience that JAX secured for a 6th. I'm sure that they are, and will be, Ok with that.

I actually think he's doing the right thing. He's not throwing Mac under the bus, only BB and his system which is fine because the latter two are out of the picture now.

If I were a Jags fan, I'd be approving that. Blame the system not the player.

IMO. Mac's fatal problem is that he is panic prone. Can't be a successful NFL QB if you crack under pressure.

I’d say the Colts one was more annoying because of the missed opportunity but maybe not as embarrassing cause no shame getting beat by Peyton.

The Rex Jets playoff loss though… very embarrassing. Jets talking trash all week and beat us in our house. Oof.
