Pats WR's ... What is a #1 WR?

And that reliable QB doesn't need to have a rocket arm, either. He just needs to get the ball to the open guys with zip. There's a difference between velocity/accuracy and just distance throwing. Take Steve Young.... distancewise, he couldn't bomb it. But he delivered the ball with zip and accuracy.
Drew Brees too.

I'm not being "passive aggressive." It's actually the opposite, I'm being direct and honest. With respect your post don't make a lot of sense. Whether its about the WR or QB position. You sound like someone who has arrested development when it comes to football. Like you're stuck in the 90's bc you don't come across as someone who's really up to date with today's game.

You just said this about this year's wr class ...

"This wasn’t not considered an extraordinary draft class for WR’s. Deep maybe but there were no first round world beaters here"

You just kind of say things without a real point or making sense.

It's cool to have opinions but usually you want to be on point with what youre
talking about. I'm just being honest I'm not trying to be rude.
Passive aggressive attacks are for women.

You didn't counter my concise well worded response to you, so I'll just assume you can't.

The Patriots had to come away from the 2024 draft with a QB... period. They had absolutely no shot at doing that and coming away with Marvin Harrison, Malik Neighbors or Rome Odunze... short of selling their first born son. After them, the only X receiver that warranted an attempted trade up or was worth a first round grade was Xavier Leggette, and by all accounts they tried to trade up to grab him but Buffalo wasn't willing to trade within the division. Once he was gone, there were still some good WR's left but not one that distinguished himself from the others. One could argue Adonai Mitchell, but he had more red flags than dating a stripper.

So when it came to the second round IMO there were two blue chip tackles left on the board and one WR who was a head case... this even after the Patriots traded back. Javon Baker had the same grade as Jaylen Polk... Baker was taken in the fourth. Meanwhile the two tackles I had graded out as bluechip players were taken by Andy Reid and Mike McDaniels in the second. What you're attempting to do is get first round value in the second round... taking a solid possession receiver in Polk does not accomplish that in my estimation, even if he turns into a decent player.

Mike Lombardi repeats a great line he took from someone else, it says "bad offensive lines don't travel." Which means they look good against the dregs and at home, but fold when it comes to the playoffs and playoff caliber defenses. Truly if you look at a team like the Bengals, outside of last season they've had a top flight defense, a generational QB, super weapons all around... but they get trounced in the playoffs eventually because their RB's can't run and their QB gets sacked 5-7 times a game. The Dolphins have the best superweapon in the NFL in Tyreek, they got bounced in the wildcard round two years in a row.

Arrested development? This isn't fantasy football, it's real life football.

Football is won in the trenches, both sides of the ball... the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I blame Mac Jones.

Brees had that accuracy and timing you want in a qb who didn't have the greatest arm strength.
Still can’t believe the Dolphins went with an aging and injured Culpepper over Brees back in the day. Glad they did and kept Brees out of the division. Bill’s buddy Saban was their coach too. Lol

It's like scouts who get enamored with physical tools over innate abilities. "Somehow this short, not very fast guy keeps getting open! .... 5th round." Same with QBs. "This guy runs fast and throws deep!" ....er, does he know how to avoid unnecessary hits? Does he know how to place the ball?

You read my post saying this

and wrote all that? Again just very general stuff that means little to the topic at hand.

He'll be taking that starting job from Lawrence any day now, because SB1 says he's actually good... blame BB.

Imagine letting a Jaguars backup QB in your head rent free lmao

Shoulder vs knee... Brees lost some arm strength after that injury and successful recovery from knee surgery had become routine... Maybe that was why...

I think this dude woulda been considered one back in the day…pay no mind to the reason he’s wearing a phish jersey…

It is well documented that Saban was pissed when the Dolphin's medical staff nixed the signing of Brees (and the Drs. obviously were wrong).
