Please oh please: Dallas WR Lamb Expected to Hold Out

He's not going anywhere this season. However, Jerry is a bad situation with Lamb, Prescott and Parsons going into FA. They need to get a deal done with at least one.

This has been coming for a while. I don’t think Jerrah can pay all three without gutting his roster. I started a poll and discussion on it about a month ago and the most persuasive arguments were against trading for him, as they would be both giving up a high 1st, and giving him over 30 million a season.

A second rd pick might be worth it but definitely not their 1st rd pick.

I agree, unfortunately a first round pick would be worth it for a team picking mid round, so the Cowboys would be more likely to send him there

He’s a top 10 wr I’d give up a first without question.
He is (Aiyuk isn't), but you don't just have to give up a high draft pick to get him... you also have to pay him.

If he was a free agent, I'd pay him near top of the market but he's not.... trading a first then paying him would be bad business.

Draft WR's, no need to overpay.

In your world he's worth a Second not in the real world.

Wozzy you can't get something for nothing I don't know what's wrong with you and paying Elite WR's. IF we ever Develop one we will have to pay them Ton when it's all said and done. The Cap ain't going down.

We traded a 4th for Randy Moss.

If you draft one you'll have them on a cost controlled contract for four years minimum... then you can decide to pay them or replace them.

Trading a first, then paying top of the market contract is dumb.

I look at Lamb like I did Moss. He could be the final piece needed to put them over the top. There's a lot of other parts needed right now. I love this player and would love to have him, but paying him a **** ton of money doesn't put them at KC's level, or even make them divisional favorites. There's a lot of other components to be added/developed.

You going to see that a lot from Teams who suck at Drafting and developing them.

Lamb would help Maye's development in a Hurry a walking First Down.

The last regime largely didn’t draft WR’s, or if they did it was from the 4th round on. They mostly preferred veteran receivers.

But I don’t know why we’re talking about the last regime at all… this is a new regime. One has nothing to do with the other, Polk and Baler could develop into solid players.

That's the hope.

Really wanted Tee Higgins and his 6'4 inch frame here Maye would just have to throw it in Higgins zip code with his catch radius.

Assuming he doesn't come in here and pull a Stefon "I want the Ball" Diggs, sure. I know that's not his reputation, but having a bunch of rookies grow with Maye might be ideal, like we see in GB with Love and all his young, talented wideouts. Most importantly, Lamb doesn't play LT. I'd rather spend that money on a bonafide stud tackle, since we are talking pie-in-the-sky trades.

If there's anyone in the league I'd want at WR, it's Lamb. He'd be my #1 choice, but not on July 1 2024.

Elite QBs with WR rooms that are deep, productive, and have well defined roles contend for Super Bowls. Even with a well-above-average QB (Cousins, Prescott, Tua), your ceiling is the divisional round.

Which is not to say I am anti-WR, but trading for Lamb now leaves you with two wasted assets (the early first + the cap space) if you are not sure Maye is the real deal. Now, if Maye comes in during December and looks the part, you consider making the deal. Right now, it would be a premature move and one that further sets the roster back should Maye bust.
