Excellent season and caps off the last few seasons. I like when teams build up to it over a few seasons really makes it so they earned even more.

Gotta debate something it is a message board so who do you think wins the 08 team or this one? I'm going with this one.

Glad to see this team get over the hump. They have hovered around that area for a while now but if they were going to do it this was the year. I was never a Marcus Smart guy so I was happy to see him go but I really do think his departure allowed for Brown and Tatum to step up as leaders. Smart always acted like he was the third member of a "Big 3" when in reality it was Tatum and Brown and role players. Stevens was able to flip Brogdon, Williams, and Smart for Tingus Pingus, and Jrue Holliday while still keeping Derrick White and that is what made the difference.

I think if I had to pick which team could win three over the next six years, I'd take this team. But for one year I'm taking the 08 team. More experience, similar talent and depth, and they beat the Kobe Lakers. It's close though. Both teams were the best team in the NBA basically the entire season.

'86 Celtics remain the best, imo, but this team is the closest thing to the Golden State Warriors in their run that I've seen.

I put them at the same level as the '08 team (but they're much younger). Also, the league really isn't top-heavy anymore. There are so many really good teams.

That started the Beat LA theme for Boston championships and the Sox and Pats eventually jumped on board.

Now I'm looking forward to Pats over Cowboys in the SB, Bruins over Stars for the cup and Sox over Rangers for the ALCS lol.

Everything is back to normal. Pats and Red Sox are not good, Bruins tease us and the C's are on top of the world.

Congrats to you Celtics fans. Enjoy!

Glad to see two MVP-caliber guys getting along so well. It's been a long slow buildup but am glad they reached the summit!

Agreed. Hard to say which team is better been 2024 and 2008. Different era. 08 will always be looked at as the gritty, tough team. 24 was a shade more talented up and down the roster IMO and definitely more athletic and fast paced.

You can make a strong argument for this being the second greatest Celtics team of all time.

Green 18 Baby! Lets Go Celtics!!!!!! Lets Go Celtics!!!!!

2008 Celtics had to go through prime Lebron James and Prime Kobe Bryant in an MVP year. This year's Celtics team played Miami, Cleveland, and Indiana - all of whom were missing their best player for all or half of the series. And then beat a #5 seed in the finals. The 2008 Lakers were the #1 seed and had only lost 3 games in the first three rounds before meeting their demise vs Boston. LA were also heavy favorites to beat Boston whereas the current Celtics team were heavy favorites to beat Dallas. This year's Celtics team does not measure up to the 2008 team. This is not a knock on the current iteration of the roundball club on Causeway; it is more of a cautionary tale to those that seek to up whatever is modern and current at the expense of the classic time-worn champion.

So because they were the number one seed instead of beating the number seed that gets held against them?

This team faced itd adversity in the few years prior and overcame it. And now that they've won I think there resume of having been to a finals and multiple conference title games puts them over the top. Obviously the 08 team came together later in their careers so it's not a perfect comp but it is what it is.

Thrilled about this. Sure, the series wasn't uber dramatic, because it was domination.
Tatum wasn't dominating, but the TEAM reminded me more of the Patriots 01-04 than any NBA team has in 20 years.
They were deep, the role players elevated, the stars weren't treated like babies that you had to feed.
Tatum showed more in his willingness to share, and allow even Brown to do what he does best - which is be aggressive.
I loved Brown getting MVP for ECS, and I've been a huge Brown guy for years, but honestly Tatum should have won it for Finals.
The way he played in Game 5 should be what he turns into the next 10 years. We can win more like that.
