DRAFT 2024 2nd Round Pick - WR Ja'Lynn Polk

Baker said it took too blanking long and he was right Baker Should have went in the Second or Third. We got a Absolute Steal in the Fourth Baker will be a Starter from Day 1 he has the.skill set.

Once you get past the top 40-50 picks the draft rankings for individual teams vary greatly, and players like Baker start dropping because teams have filled that need and start looking elsewhere. I was shocked he lasted that long, and really happy with the pick. Their WR room is in much better shape now. They can still shop for a top WR if they want to, but now it won’t be from desperation.

Maybe the Mitchell stuff is overblown but with a rookie quarterback and rookie head coach building a solid locker room and fostering a team culture is more important than ever so I am happy we passed on him the more I read about his personality.

One pre-draft report cited that Mitchell, a Type 1 diabetic, didn’t manage his condition well and that could be the cause of friction. “When his blood sugar’s off, he’s rude, he’s abrasive, he doesn’t pay attention in meetings. It’s why you get really, really ****ty character reports coming out of Georgia and Texas. But when his stuff is normal, and they get him normal by lunch time, he’s out at practice high energy, best practice player, loves football.”

Seems like an odd reason to turn into a dipshit. Even if that whole thing is legit then be an adult and manage your condition better.
Another facet of this; one report said he (the college team ?) [..supposedly..] had a full-time person monitoring/assisting him to stay at right sugar level. [..& still failed at that..]

arch: Polk and Baker are our George Pickens both players attack the football both are going to be loved here. Don't be fooled by their 40 times they play faster than their timed speed.
I found this interesting. Top speed is not the same as 40 time but it shows once they accelerate, both guys have good top speeds that you can see on film help their late separation just before the ball arrives. Combined with their ridiculous ball skills, this is how both guys win down the field.

Is the „top speed“ not also measured from film (that is; ‚in game‘ & IN HELMET & PADs). I

I think that is a critical difference. Nice what anybody can do in shorts on a track & with track coaching how to start out of blocks; but „GAME SPEED“ is what you really want to measure.

So thanks for much better data.

I believe it is was tracked by GPS. Yes it is “in game” not in shorts. It shows the difference between acceleration and top speed. Nabers has insane acceleration but isn’t even on this list for top speed. The receivers we drafted are the opposite.

If that's true that's just sad that between the two of them they couldn't get it right.

As I suspected Patriots tried to get back in the 1st round I’m sure for Worthy and it didn’t work out.

That’s been the story sadly all offseason for trying to acquire a legit game breaker.
. Tried to sign Calvin Ridley
. Tried to trade for Brandon Aiuik
. Tried to trade for Tee Higgins
. Tried to trade for Stephon Diggs
. Tried to trade for Deebo Samuel.
. Tried to trade for AJ Brown
. If you count Jerry Jeudy, Mike Williams and Keenan Allen being available.

It’s like we somehow can’t close that elusive deal.

I think Baker and Polk will be really solid additions but a game breaker is lacking,

. Maybe we still land one this season somehow.
It’s just worth noting how elusive it’s been.
I love Wolf and think he’s the right guy but we need to land this guy to make Mayes day.

Yeah, but that was another wave-off flag teams took note of and caused his fall

listening to him talk to the boston media some dipsquat mentions ad mitchell in the background. our media sucks !!

So here aree breakdowns I feel as worthwhile S Smith on Polk and Baker a month ago pre draft preview with comps to players he has seen. If these have been posted my apologies.

Almost 1/2 hr on each pllayer good and bad.

I've always wondered - can you utilize presnap motion to compensate for someone who might not have a huge initial burst (many tall runners in general) but have high top end (many tall runners in general) so that they're... Coming off the line already in 2nd gear, so to speak?

Thanks for sharing. I look forward to his breakdown; Steve Smith is a receiver I always respect. Quick and fast in his youth, but really took everything else seriously so when his athleticism dipped, he was with a wealth of knowledge and still ran good routes. Relentless, as well. Never stopped. His insight should be worth something.

I have to say this makes me feel a lot better about these two draft picks.

Hoping for the best with him. He had Penix throwing him the ball who was probably the best QB throwing those types of catchable contested passes. Also had Odunze who's tilted coverage his way.

Mconkey should have been a better fit. He could play outside and slot, faster and better change of direction, plus went up against SEC DBs.
So the question really is: McConkey and a 5th round pick or Polk and Baker?

Gimme a blue chip OT and take a diff qb rd 2.

This was stupid.

With any luck, our OL is bad enough that we don't win more than 5 games next year, and Wolf can try again next year with a new set of top-5 picks.

O, we'll need another qb next year, whoever plays behind this OL is going to be ruined.

Carr, comes to mind. The older one who got shell shocked.
The hyperbole (evidenced above) in this thread is really quite amazing.
