What Are Chances Patriots Make Splash Trade For Justin Fields?

The trade is ludicrous, there's no way they give up that much for a single 1st round pick
For the #3 pick=No trade of players would cost them #11 this year, then next year 2025 #1 and first rounder in #2026.......at least. Is that a fair statement Cousin?
Trey Lance deal.
San Francisco acquired the No. 3 pick in the 2021 draft and traded first-round picks in 2021, 2022 and 2023 along with a 2022 third-round pick to the Miami Dolphins

Jefferson #1 ans a #1 in 2025 is a better deal for the Vikes and he will cost them big bucks in a contract and you have to pay Addison the year after.
So it's a money move as well for them. We can afford Jefferson.

Just sayin.

Sure, but I also can't remember a team giving up that much draft capital prior to that ever. You can't use one horribly lopsided deal as the basis for every other possible deal moving forward

They are taking a QB anyway. I don't know if it will be at 3 though. We need so much. LT, RT, WR. Sometimes players need change of scenery Sometimes.

In that case Canada would be a good move for him.

If you can make the JJettas trade and keep a first you can take a guy like Bowers if he falls to you or one of the 8+ 1st round worthy OLinemen or even a WR like Odunze you can take a QB in one of the next two round

They had a lot of overpaid players at the top of the roster and the team from 1-53 wasn't good.
So Kraft was willing to spend but they didn't do it wisely. Maybe that will change now. We'll see.

.

What’s important is cap spending, not cash spending. This isn’t baseball, the NFL has a hard cap.

We’ll see if Wolf can build a team and if Mayo and co can manage it.
Honestly I'm actually optimistic about the future of the team. We were rock bottom last season haven't been there in long while. I don't forsee rock bottom next season and beyond. The most important thing is the proper management of the QB position. They can't screw that up if so it's mediocrity we stay.

We haven't even been close to rock bottom yet

Watch any patriots games last season? 32nd ranked offense, not 1 pro bowl selection, utter embarrassment at the QB position.. so yeah... rock bottom. 4-13. So bad it got the greatest HC ever fired!

I’ll remain optimistic until I see what personnel moves they make. When I saw Josh McDaniels give Devante Adams a top of the market deal as soon as he arrived on the Raiders I knew he hadn’t learned a thing from his Ram’s days and was destined to fail.

Team building is an art, it’s also hard. We’ll see… I’m old enough to remember when the Patriots were the league doormat and years went by with no hope for change.

The spending wisely part is most important. I hope that the team holds its powder this year when it comes to spending 'over the cap'. There is no sense creating a future cap challenge just to be a little better. If the QB hits and the team establishes its core identity, spend big starting next year when there is a better chance of getting value.

I'm optimistic becuase I know ownership is destined to get back to winning. They have been embarrassed the last two season. Nobody thought that we'd look that bad. I don't anticipate football being as bad offensively as it was the last 2 seasons. Can't get worse than 32nd.

Watched every game, we won 4 of them, lost 8 (I think) by one score.

If you think that was rock bottom look back at the '93 '94 seasons, or Detroit 08 09 (2-30) or Browns '16 17 (1-31). We can go winless next season and not be the lowest rock bottom the NFL has season in the last decade.

If you lose by one score or 100 scores, the result is still the same.

In the record it is, but not when you are considering what rock bottom looks like, at least to me. 4-13 with eight losses by single scores, feels alot different than 4-14 with 8 losses by 20+ points.

The team is depleted of talent, especially on offense. Can't begin the rebuild w/o bringing in talent. They can't do it just with the draft. They need to spend to bring in talent. I agree with being wise about it (no more Judon/Agholor contracts) but they'll have to spend. A lot.
