I mean, their "post-Brady plan" was just to pay Baker almost veteran minimum salary and got lucky that he found himself again. That's not exactly rocket science, that's closer to winning a scratch-off. They will now have to pay him mega bucks next year and also pay Evans mega bucks or else lose them both. I very much doubt the 2024 Bucs will be as good due to this. But it'll be fun to watch the 2023 Bucs the next couple weeks!

And isn't the likelihood that Baker is having a Case Keenum type experience that will not last long? That's what I'm expecting at least.

Edit: I see he was listed as the LBs coach. For some reason, I thought when they signed Mayo last year and gave him the Assistant HC or whatever title they gave him that they gave Steve the DC title.

Pats haven't had an official DC since Patricia, I think.

Technically - we don't know if he was fired. He may have been, or he may have resigned and Kraft has declared he won't seek compensation. They may have voided the final year of his deal for a buyout fee, so he was neither fired nor resigned. We don't know. We may never know. The only technically correct term to use at this time is what the team has supplied us with unless/until more info comes to light.

Ehh, he was fired dude. But whatever.

Maybe, but I also wonder if that comes from some offensive assistant trying to come up with an excuse for why the offense was bad. “It’s not our fault it was bad, we wanted to do things differently but BOB didn’t even want to work with us”

I tend to agree w/ you and the reason I would like to move on from BoB, too much drama. ALA fans were thrilled when he left. He's also a hold over. If I'm Mayo, I would want someone loyal to me.

That's the other part about an OC like JMD, BOB, or even Kliff (who could be exciting) - all those guys would be hankering for another HC job in the next 1-2 years.
I think we need to put someone there who will stay for at min 3-4 years. That means a younger up-and-coming guy.

You can't stop that though. Look at Canales, 1st year OC and already being interviewed for HC.

Imo, I think it's best if Steve and Brian go elsewhere to spread thier wings. I hope covington gets the DC title, he's earned it and from what the players on defense say most notably Barmore and Tavai raved about how he's made them better players. It's nice to see guys move up in the organization hope it happens!

All these discussions are happening all over the place, simultaneously. I don't get why grown adults can't control themselves and take it someplace else so we have one thread that's news and not polluted with ********. We manage it in the transaction thread.
