Curran's reporting on Mayo being the next head coach

Not sure how I feel about this.
I was hoping for a full purge and reset.
I suspect if true

McDaniels will be OC
Steve B will be DC
Mayo has zero experience running anything. This looks like a very bad experiment.

I'd prefer Vrabel to Mayo. Vrabel has shown he can build and win with a team similar to the Pats. I don't mind Mayo but think this type of rebuild needs someone with more experience. I think Kraft assumed Mayo would be taking over a good team and be able to ease into the hot seat. Giving Mayo a 4-13 team and expecting him to turn it around quickly just seems a big gamble.

This would cement Kraft's legacy as a massive clown who has no clue what he's doing, and lucked in to Brady and Belichick.
He’s arguably the most successful NFL owner ever. He’s hired three coaches, all of whom won Super Bowls, and the patriots have won six Super Bowls, as we know. That’s an odd take.

As for Mayo, I think it’s strange to disqualify someone because they maybe learned from Bill Belichick, one of the greatest coaches ever. Weird times here.

Let me put it this way. As far as credentials? Tom E Curren and Howard Cossel only have 1 thing in common.

Mayo may be a good HC one day
Smart with great leadership qualities
That said you can’t go from crawling to running

I wish Kraft would not have made that public fuss over Mayo last year or whenever it was. It just created vague expectations, unnecessarily complicating things. It wouldn't surprise me if Mayo figures the job is his if/when BB leaves, but now a more qualified candidate (Vrabel) has entered the picture making it even more complicated.

Curran doubling down that he has more intel than others and the decsion has been made

Ask Cleveland how they felt about the Young BB. Gotta start somewhere.

Yeah it didn't work and he got fired. My point exactly.

Nah, Bill isn't going anywhere. Unless they make the playoffs, 2024 will be his last year in NE.

The media has had conflicting stories all season and Curran only comes out of the woodwork when others do the dirty work first.

When BB is fired, Stevie B will quit Bob Kraft. No way SB stays after Kraft fires his Pop.

Anyone else truly loyal to BB will also leave on their own.
I guess contracts are meaningless documents in your sphere

He's letting it be known that he is somewhat in the know. He's not even considering placing himself in the group of wishful thinkers that BB may be back because he knows better.
I'm okay staying in the BB camp because I don't need more information to shape my opinion. If I absolutely knew BB was gone I'd still want him here.

When McDaniels was leaving for the Colts and stayed he was suppose to get inside access to BB
I could understand that fuss. McDaniels already was a HC in Denver and knew he still needed more knowledge.
Even with that he failed again as HC.

Mayo has absolutely no experience other than a split Coordinator position. If he was “The Guy“ to follow BB, then he has a Tsunami of pressure adding to pressure of trying to learn on the fly. Failure written all over it.

I have been leaning to keeping BB only because I do know it is going to be hard to follow BB. I also don’t want to start throwing darts again finding a HC like the days I know we Both endured during the pre Brady days.
I do think Vrabel could be a good candidate. He carries himself with confidence. He is established. He was Coach of the Year. He would demand respect which is needed in this strong media and fan base area.

Mayo. No Thanks

Curran is super weird in this video. He is basically saying "this is the coach and this is the GM because I said so, and I don't even want to talk about other options because I just know better."

If Mayo gets the nod, he better leverage all of his contacts to out the strongest staff together that he can possibly have. He’s going to need all the help he can get. The media and this fanbase will not be patient with the poor guy.
