Vrabel and tampering.

First, even if Vrabel is their guy, they have to go through a dog and pony show of an interview process to satisfy the Rooney Rule.

Second, I think the divorce between Vrabel and the Titans have been a long time coming. It started even before there was a question of whether Belichick might be leaving the team this year or not. I think the Titans would have a hard time claiming that the Patriots tampered and Vrabel forced his fire because of it.

And Amy herself gave this interview . If she does a U turn it would look as if she is trying to advance her relative draft position.

There is no way they can claim tampering. We still have bill . When stars align you take advantage of it , in this case Vrabel being free to join any team that is a good fit without any draft compensation.

Vrabes hasn’t really done anything to get fired so hes got nothing to worry about. Maybe if he would’ve done something to shoot his way out a la blount and ab in Pittsburgh

Speaking of Caserio...

Caserio spoke about his thoughts in terms of being connected with the New England job, and did so emphatically, as transcribed by NESN.com’s Jason Ounpraseuth.

“I’m going to try and hold my tongue here a little. But I would just say, this time of year, there’s a lot of things that are said and anybody who makes a jackass statement that they either know me, or trust me, you can rely on this information honestly is totally off base,” Caserio said on SportsRadio 610. “I would say I am grateful for the opportunity I have here. Respectfully, I know there are reporters who think they have all the information.

“This becomes silly season. It happens every year, during the January-February cycle when you have coaching changes, whether it’s around the draft. …I focus on the things I can control and not worry about some offhanded statements made out of left field that quite frankly have zero validity. …Whoever these reporters are that make these ridiculous statements, maybe you want to talk to me about it first before you put some information out there that actually has zero basis.”

Yeah It would make zero sense to leave Houston after how well he’s built it.

There’s a little nugget at PFT right now in an article about the clock ticking on Pats and Belichick. Florio comments on how the Pats can’t make it look too obvious if Vrabel is there guy because the owner of the Titans could feel like she got bamboozled out of a coach that forced his way out to jump ship to New England. This is something that concerned me all the way back when Vrabel was in New England for his ceremony. Rumors were rampant then that the Krafts were interested in him. The whole thing just screamed drama incoming to me.

Are the Pats screwed if they hire Vrabel now? What level of proof had to be available that they tampered with a coach? What type of punishment can we expect to be leveled if there is one? If the Pats go Vrabel, it’ll be the worst kept secret in ages. A damned if they do, damned if they don’t type of situation.
This could be the dumbest argument ever made.
Vrabel is fired
The patriots are looking for a coach and among many others interview Vrabel.
They hire him.
Titans claim tampering? When? How? You can’t tamper with a fired coach.

Florio loves to try and create/manifest the narrative, rather than report on it......

Lol - the guy was fired. End of conversation.

Vrabel quits his job

The point is that he did not quit, he was fired. If he did quit and they hired him, their claim would be that he was induced to quit via tampering - and the Titans would still hold his contract rights and would be due compensation from NE for signing him, just like Belichick and the Jets in 2000.

But they fired him and stated reasons for doing so which are wholly their own and have nothing to do with anyone else. If another team hires him later, they would have a pretty tough time claiming that their internal reasons for firing someone were somehow driven pre-firing by another team that hired him later.

If he was becoming a big problem and trying to force his way out of town then it might be a slightly different conversation because TN could claim that he became a problem because Kraft told him he wanted him in NE. But that's not the situation.

Can not hire Vrabel until at least 2 external minority candidates have been interviewed.

The timing of the Pats HoF ceremony is suspicious
Has to be done on Vrabel’s bye week. Nothing suspicious. I was very surprised he stayed for the game the next day. He should have quit when they traded AJ Brown underneath him.

They want someone younger.

Personally speaking it feels good to read stories about the Pats skirting the rules again, feels like the good old days. Bring Vrabel in with a bang. They should hire Jon "Spytek" as their new GM too just because that would be funny as ****. Send the haters into a coma.

I was just saying a version of what Caserio is saying on another thread. When writers tell you that they talked to 12+ sources and yet they also say the story is unconfirmed, they are telling you that only 1 out of 12+ said what they reported. Yet on this board many posters take it as absolute facts. You have to be at least a little skeptical.

Tough part is if 2 out of 12 said it then it would be "confirmed", even though 10 out of 12 didn't say it.

That's true, but those are the rules.

my favorite is when they take the bogus initial report then build on it, citing the original report as their source

Speaking of which... I am not going to buy another pay service for NFL. Period. They can go eff themselves.

Funny enough, this clip from Rapoport today specifically says that Amy Adams Strunk is telling people she fired Vrabel because she didn't like that he visited the Patriots during his bye week for the HOF Ceremony. Holy ****ing sensitivity, Batman. Why would any serious coach want to go there now if they know they can get fired over petty **** like this?
