Fields is more talented than most of the QBs we're talking about. Certainly more than Maye. He throws a better ball, is more compact, more athletic, can see downfield pretty well.

If Fields is your franchise QB, you would need to extend his contact for 3 years. His current contract is for 1 year plus an option year, perfect for a transitional QB. If he is better than that in 2024, we can THEN trade Fields or our pick.

In any case, if you get Fields, you still need a solid backup.

If Chicago takes a QB, they might prefer to clear the decks for the kid. Fields is also up for renewal this year, and so they'd be incentivized to take the best pick they can get for him.

I'd be worried about Pittsburgh trading for him or a team like that if indeed the Patriots targeted him.

I bet Fields would take a decent contract offer as a known quantity, whereas a rookie that really plays well always demands top dollar these days in year 3 (Burrow, Murray, etc.) so it's really only a 1 or 2 year cap hit by taking an older QB

Idk there’s many ways we could go about this. Washington is almost certainly going QB here. We could trade for or sign a veteran and draft Marvin Harrison jr or trade up to 1 and draft Caleb and Chicago pairs marv with fields

No way I’d do this for Williams. In Rich Hill’s draft value chart, pick 1 is worth 1000 points and pick 3 is worth 514, so you want them to give up 3 and the equivalent of pick 3 or 4 in the first for a 6’1” QB who sobbed on his mommy’s arms after a tough loss? Hard pass. That goes for trading up to 1 for Maye as well.
