NEW ARTICLE: Zappe’s Emergence is Certainly Changing Patriots’ QB Conversation

I tend to agree. I'd still want a veteran in here. By all means Is this QB situation clearly defined yet I like what Zapp has done.. however still need a vet in here.. someone with pedigree, who has won, who's been through different situations and some foot ball adversity.
Besides overpriced Cousins and Tannehill, who're you thinking of?

Trade for Zach?

I'm kidding - For real trade for Russ Wilson? 36 next year with that albatross of a contract...

Kidding again - Hmm I guess you're thinking if he's released and ends up signing for not huge money. I can see his getting a decent contract even if he's released, as he keeps producing... How much would you be willing to give him per year?

He's expected to be released. His benching is tied directly onto his contract incentives and escalators. Age wouldn't be an issue he would be just a bridge. Have to have someone of his caliber to push Zapp.. while still drafting a guy. The QB situation has to be handled correctly in order for the organization to compete .

However he'd have to be willing to come here. Right now other than a excellent defense and passionate fans in NE it's just the past allure of the success that is left.

He would likely take a 15-20 million salary. He is coming off a 26-8 season. Pretty darn good. A poster says in a 17 game season Zappe projects to do the same.. not sure about that. I can see Zappe doing 17 and 10..

Say what you want about Zappe, but he has started 6 games and is a second year player. Brady was up and down and had a 4 or 5 interception game his first year playing, second year. I am not willing to throw out Zappe if he has a bad game in Buffalo Sunday. Young qb's make mistakes.

Trent Brown was amazing in 2018- it doesnt seem like we are ever getting that guy back. When healthy Trent is still okay but we are currently playing three guys at left tackle a game. Trent, McDermont, and Lowe. That is absurd and I have never seen another team rotate one spot like that constantly. An elite tackle is a bigger need than qb. We need to grab one over a qb if they are like the next Joe Thomas. Our current line would be feeding a first round quarterback to the wolves unless they have even better pocket movement than Zappe who is doing it at a pretty high level imo.

So I'm really into Zappe for next year but I could get behind a mobile qb such as Jayden.

Zapp, Vet FA, and draft pick is what I'm thinking. Zapp would have the upper hand of course. However compete it out in camp.
Just so long as the Vet FA doesn't hurt our Cap situation (including prohibiting us from keeping and/or acquiring other players).

Whatever they do, being solid on the O-Line (including talented depth), is critical.

Obviously, I would absolutely love it if he could tangibly increase his arm strength.

I would not worry to much about cap situation whatever vet comes in trust and believe he'll be very team friendly. Just need someone to push Zapp.

Zapp Is definitely in the mix. Pretty much his Job to loose. He'll I'm sure he'll work on his game in the offseason. What I'm thinking is add peices on offense around him and see if can pretty much be then QB we need.

Zapp is not afraid to throw thru tight windows ...
I admire that ... he has balls ... more Zip on his ball than fall-away Mac does.

I like Zapppe but I’d prefer him as a backup, trade up and grab one of the top qb’s!

Just so long as the Pats aren't shellacked.

Allen is a 40 TD QB and where the NE QB position needs to be. If the Pats can get in the vicinity of that kind of production, were back competing for Super Bowls.

Trent is NEVER healthy and when he is he is lazy and disinterested….Goodbye…

I think mentally is the biggest difference. Mac might look better in practice with no pressure or defense.

But it's clear in game time he turtles under the pressure taking sacks or just loses his form and throws a bad ball.

Zappe has been able to not be shell shocked by the pressure.

Some of that is on the GM for putting a bad team around him. But alot of that is also on Mac Jones for not being able to handle adversity. And doesn't bode well if everything isn't going right.
