BB watch

Not sure that is a fair comparison.

Noll was able to build a juggernaut and keep it together.

BB did it in the salary cap era.

I would call bb’s accomplishments more impressive, yes. But the aftermath is the same to me. Times are changing and you can only stay great for so long

Can you tell me how football has changed since 2019? Everyone loves this line but can never back it up.

Last 8 teams in the sb have had offensive minded hc’s. Its also getting much less likely to succeed without top end passing talent as well whereas as recently as 2011 - 2018 you saw teams like nyg, Baltimore, Seattle, denver and us in 2018 win with defense and more efficient type offense. I could be wrong but Theres definitely been a change in my eyes ,

If you have a playoff caliber roster EXCEPT THE QB you aren’t making the playoffs.
The QB position is holding back a solid roster.
Replace 10 and Zappe with an average QB and at least 5 losses would have been wins.
Stay the course (which is the course that built the greatest dynasty ever) add a qb and upgrade the roster with 100 mill cap space gets you to SB contender much faster than blowing it up and starting over with a nobody.
7-8 could be explained away by 1 player. 4-11 - no it’s everyone.

Agreed. A GMs job is to manage the cap. So he shouldn't get accolades for that. He gets accolades for his coaching IMO.. as Andrew Brandt said former GM of the packers.. salary cap was created by the owners. GMs are told manage the cap best as possible. I never.. just speaking for myself saw him as such a instrumental GM.

When I think about Bill I see the legendary NFL coach he is.

Why? It’s not a generic guess, it’s identifying 5 specific games that we win with average qb play. Just average, not good. LV,LA,wash,Indy,NYG. There is no reasonable position that we don’t win everyone of those games with average qb play.
I’m not including games that weren’t directly lost by horrific qb play.

The change is that some other teams have an elite QB and we no longer do and we’re on the outside looking in. The other change is that QB play as a whole is way below average and trending down so now most teams are rolling out athletic gamblers at QB which leads to big plays with high variance.

Put another way, if we were in 4th and 2 again and the other QB is any QB in the league right now, we punt the ball. Not the case in the era of Manning, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Brees, etc.

Matt Stafford went from a top 15 QB to a top 5 purely by attrition. Let that sink in.

Can’t believe some Pats fans are cheering on a loss in the finale against the Jets.

In what might be BB’s last game as HC in NE? Come on.

There is no f’n way I’m doing that regardless of the draft.

Pure conjecture.

100% true. The OL, receivers and lack of a 3rd down rb contributed to the suckage
The idea that this team is only a qb away is false

Pure conjecture.
Common sense. We lost close games with very little production on offense with horrible, below nfl backup caliber qb play.
There is not a reasonable argument we don’t win thise 5 games if we had average, or even below average qb play.

It's not common sense. With the exception of DL and safety the roster is below average.

The elite talent is on IR. What are you left with? Average/below average players.

You are talking yourself into something which isn't there.

5 games were losses because of horrible qb play
Wash, LV,LA, Indy, giants.
You cannot honestly tell me we lose any of those games with average or even barely competant QB play.

I am talking about the actual football games played. Which of those 5 losses are still losses if the qb play was average or even barely competant.

Your opinion on the roster is because you are not recognizing they the qb held the entire roster back.

The elite qb point doesn’t address what i said. from 2011-2018 teams were winning without elite qbs and elite talent at wr or te. Thats no longer happening since 2019. Just a trend I’ve noticed, bb seems to be outdated and i don’t find him fit to keep up. Plus some of the decisions like having matt Patricia and joe judge run the offense , the overall handling of the qb situation since the bears game last year, etc is not helping with my faith in him either.

You should look up this thing called recency bias.

You asked what has changed since 2019 and i answered. Whats the point of asking if youre just going to say recency bias? Lol not saying it may not be that, who knows maybe the next 3 sb winners win it with defense. But thats an observation

Bill is 72 and may realize he’s not able to be gm AND coach anymore, both by looking at the team’s performance and his own energy level.
And how many other teams will give bill GM responsibilities. Sadly none .

So it's in bills best interest to possibly relinquish the GM post and plan succession with Mayo .

I think Bill and Bob would also be secretly hoping that zappe balls out the last 2 games.

If we win the last 2 then we might possibly be taking OT / WR in R1 and R2 and QB in R4 and roll in with zappe for 2024.

We can't draft a rookie QB and make him start next year as well. So might be better to allow zappe to cook for 2024.

Can Zappe transform to purdy with 1 or 2 weapons ??

Again, conjecture.

The issue remains.....the GM f-ed up the QB, WR, and Oline positions.

No. I stated plainly why I think the roster has holes all over it.
