Kraft on Game Day

The quarterback situation was an obvious **** show. I wanted to trade Mac after his rookie season while his stock was fools-gold high. This year I wanted to start Zappe and trade Mac for whatever delusions may have been left with the Patricia OC. I didn’t really see the need to bring in a Flacco as a serviceable back up, but I can see that point being made.

I’m not saying I believe this, have no evidence, and am not trying to bring conspiracies into the equation, but it is possible Kraft wanted to ride with Mac. I really have no idea what to think of that because he was so ****ing bad and just kept starting. Part of me wants to believe there was some reason for it beyond Belichick incompetence. I find it hard to believe there was less faith in Zappe considering he’s had some decent games with brighter flashes.

His drafting has been terrible. If we keep him, I would like to see a General Manager brought in, even if he’s an unnamed shadow-GM to spare Bill the embarrassment of being fired for one of his jobs, which I can see Kraft wanting to do.

Again, my only real hardline opinion on the matter is, when Bill’s gone, I want every trace of him gone. I even want new uniforms. I want a 100% complete page turn. If that’s 2025 instead of 2024, I’ll live.

I also think the real heat should have been on him during the Gronk-to-Detroit ******** and his drama with Brady. He survived that and it’s so far in the rear view mirror, this other stuff almost seems trivial.

Definitely need to pivot to weapons and protection now, though, which I’m fully expecting to happen.

Sorry for the double post lol

Again, Brady could have made multiple coaches “the greatest of all time.” If he had Arians for 20 years, people would be calling that the “perfect match”, too.
I get what he's saying. It was the perfect match in that Bill, an authoritarian, got a QB who had an unusually high respect for authority.

But you're spot on. Any HC he ended up with would have been considered better. Brady elevates all of those around him, and that includes coaches.

Just not true.

Just not true.
Of course it’s true.
My statement isn’t that he would have made _any_ coach the greatest of all time. It’s that any _competent_ and talented coach would have been made the greatest of all time. Belichick isn’t unique to the NFL based on his record without him.

His record without him isn’t “who he is” but it is “who he is” without a Tom Brady. Bruce Arians, Andy Reid, maybe even Pete Carrol would all been “the greatest coach of all time” if they had Brady for twenty years.

Again, Arians is 2/2 with Championship game appearances with Tom and he didn’t even have him in his prime. If Belichick kept making the AFCCG with nobodies, it might be a different story and perception, but he didn’t, so it’s not.

No. They both did their parts in accomplishing the success they had. Brady is one piece of an organization, carrying out his job.

Yet Arians has a 50% Super Bowl success rate with him and a 100% championship game appearance rate with him even though Tom was in his 40’s. Belichick isn’t so special a unicorn that no other coach comes close to him. He had Brady. That’s the difference.

We were 9-3 and the 1 seed in 2021 heading into the Bye. It all all went down hill from there.

The more the season goes on I'm leaning towards Bill being back. Do you have faith he can clean up this mess or is it all Mac's fault too?
Funny thing is that Corky got found out after the Buffalo wind game.

Lost to Indy 2 INTs
Lost to Buffalo 2 INTs
Won vs the Jags 3 TDs
Lost to Miami 1 INT
Lost to Buffalo 2 INT

7 INTs in 5 games. Of course his followers blame the OL and WRs.

Don’t forget Belichick and the fact that “not even Tom could win a game with this team.”

McAfee has always been ****ing unbearable. No idea how people can watch him.

Yeah the last couple weeks have really started making me think Bill isn’t going anywhere. Especially if the team picks up a couple more wins and the offense generally stays looking competent with Zappe, it will be easy for them to just say it was all Mac’s fault and continue forward as-is.
As the TNF broadcast stated, Bill has one year left after this year. Bob is too cheap and won’t fire him. The only way Bill leaves is if another team approaches and offers a trade.

Winning 1 SB isn’t winning 6.
And yes belichick is that special.

It’s a 50% success rate. It was nearly 100% outside a blown coverage. Now give Arians 20 years with Tom. Now give Reid 20 years with Tom. Maybe even give Harbough 20 years with Tom. Tom is the difference maker.

That’s what the numbers say.

Seriuos questions possibly.
The GM/HC's future isn't a serious question to the owner of a 3-10 team?

Here's what else the numbers say. Every other HC has far less losing seasons in their entire careers than Bill has in his seasons without Brady. Bill has lost most of the time with the Pats and Browns and you'd have to add 3 or 4 of those other HCs totals to reach Bill's 8 losing seasons. And some of those HCs won one or more SBs without Brady, something Bill has never come close to doing.

That’s not how it works.

You accomplish what you accomplish. Coulda shoulda woulda is for losers

Okaaaay. Looks like Belichick sucks without Tom, then.

Makes you honestly wonder if Brady would have won 10 rings with someone else, and I’m not a Belichick hater.

You can’t eliminate those years, and the franchise he built.
Anyone isn’t very good if you don’t count their successes.
