Hunter Henry, Ezekiel Elliot, Kendrick Bourne, Juju Smith-Shuster, Jonnu Smith, Nelson Aghalor, Riley Reiff. And that's just off the top of my head. Sure, most of them were either disappointments or outright busts. But it's wrong to say:

They tried. Pretty hard, it looks like. Which is all anyone can ask.

None of those guys move the needle. They are jags, complementary pieces. It's fair to question Bills roster building mentality when it comes to offense.

Nice players if you have elite guys around them. Not as the star acquisitions on offense.

Have to say from top to bottom this is one of the worst rosters. It's going to take a few drafts to get back to being competitive. even if we hit on the QB

Bill not having drafted a pro bowl player in 10 years is crazy.
Worst offensive rosters (if you want to throw in ST too, go ahead). The defense it pretty good. Not amazing but it doesn't need a complete top-to-bottom overhaul like the offense does.

Bill still knows how to draft defense. Apparently he's completely clueless when it comes to offensive roster evaluation.

Hunter Henry was a good pick up and one of the most sought after free agents at his position, but the rest of the guys were bargin bin shopping. I guess you can put Jonnu Smith in that category (not the good pick up part, but sought after). But both were considered above average TEs.

And both Henry and Smith were signed before Mac was even drafted. Same with Bourne and Agholor. None of them were signed to make Mac Jones a better QB. They were signed because the Pats had a lot of money and they were giving Cam Newton weapons.

The Pats didn't get Elliot of five years ago. He is the guy most of the league decided was washed up and a shell of his former self. He has outplayed expectations, but expectations weren't all that high.

Both Smith-Schuster and Reiff were damaged goods that no one really wanted that Belichick could get cheap. The Chiefs have no receivers and they didn't want JuJu back. The Bears have a crap o-line and didn't want Reiff back.

Pete Carrol had us respectable.
We were 5 and 11 with Bill til Brady was inserted.
The Patriots were in the Super Bowl in 1997 against the Packers and could have won that game. The Tuna jumped ship. They were competitive under Pete Carroll but underperformed. Belichick arrived in 2000 and went 5-11 before the dynasty began. The Patriots were essentially a competitor for the whole thing until the 2020 season when the wheels started falling off.

The 2023 team is a disaster, except for the silver lining of tons of cap space in 2024 and several rounds of the highest picks since Drew Bledsoe went #1 (who was the QB of the 1996 SB team.) This thing can turn around quickly, especially with the Bills sinking to a .500 team (they blew a 10-point halftime lead in Philadelphia this afternoon.)

There's an outstanding defensive core coming back in 2024, and with the right QB and a couple of starting offensive linemen, this team can be a quick turnaround. If I were Robert Kraft, I'd keep Belichick as coach and do a major overhaul of the front office.

And Conor McDermott starting over Trent Brown? Why did Bill do that again? Either Brown can play and should start or you're doing some pointless mind games that got your QB run over....again.

They said the same thing about the 2021 draft, it was being compared to the 1983 draft. Right now it looks like there’s one decent QB out of that draft.
And Lawrence may never see a SB unless he pays to get in.

Odd response.

There is nothing to defend....?

The franchise sucked before Belichick. It's fact. Do you disagree?

Define sucked? Are we just talking 1999 when they went 2-6 after they went 6-2?

Great so Bill can now play TWO games with the media and his team this week… Mac or Zappe? McDermott or Brown? Wow! All these mysteries over a 2-9 team. So exciting. I won’t be able to sleep thinking about the possibilities!

Huh? Go ahead and define it anyway you want.

What it means to me is zero Superbowls.

The HC isn't out there throwing the ball
And he's not see what the NFL world is seeing either. BB is very close to the end of his NFL sad but true.

Injury perhaps? I think Trent Brown is nursing an ankle injury.

Gostowski missed 5 kicks his rookie year. Ryland has already missed six with a third of the season to go. Vinatieri missed seven, but has a higher completion percentage than Ryland does now (77.1% vs. Ryland's 66.7%).
The point is that they all missed more kicks their rookie years. I considered the first month for Ryland an aberration because of the 3 bad snaps and the long kicks. If I look back on his year, I consider him shanking 2

He may be elsewhere next year, but I he'll be at it longer I would bet.
