Belichick signed to long term contract

How so? They may have played better Sunday than in any game last year.
And that corresponds 100% to the health of the OL.
If they have to put the worst OL in the NFL out there with 2 rookie Gs and an abysmal RT they are worse than last year, it not worse than they would have been last year with the same injuries.

At best they are treading water since 2019. A .500 team.

You would like to see improvement offensively and with weapons growing towards something.

They extended the dynasty and started in a huge hole in 2020. Being a .500 team from that point on would be progress.
It’s incredible to me that people actually think starting essentially from scratch and not being one of the best teams yet is shocking and negligent.

I think it’s silly to act as if one game or a few games are needed to judge him. He is the greatest to ever do the job. That isn’t going to change if they lose 6 in a row or win 6 in a row. In either case he is the best man for the job for as long as he wants the job.
We would not be a closer to a championship today if we had replaced belichick at any time in the past.
We aren't talking about a few games. The haters want to throw out all these "without Brady" numbers. Meh. From my point of view, they went all in to win thru 2019, and 2020 was a reset, plus covid, so throw that out. 2021 made the playoffs, fine, keep going. '22 was a mess, a step in the wrong direction. Coupled with the horrendous start this year and there are and should be rumblings. Now, I agree, the man has earned the right to fix it. If it continues or continued in the wrong direction thru the end of '23, then there should be a discussion if he's the right man going forward. There's no way you take a 6 time Super Bowl champion and fire him mid-season, regardless of how bad it gets, I could care less what the talking heads and haters say.

I do think there's a point when you look at the man and ask, is he still Bill Belichick, legend and GOAT? Is he the same guy who drafts Gronk and the other TE not named in the same draft? Gets Randy Moss for a 4th round pick? Is he the same guy who got in Bill Polian's head so bad that they changed the rules? ("you wanna change the rules, change 'em!) Is he the guy that got Mike Martz to play right into his hand in SB36? Is he the same guy that was in Rex Ryan's head so bad that he talked about not kissing the rings? Is he the guy that Sean McVey was star struck by at the Super Bowl? Time will tell.

Of course he is the same guy. He is dealing with a different situation that was destined to take more time.

No doubt the OC issue was a big problem but it was an issue not if his making when his OC got promoted. Was it a miscalculation that he could get through a year using coaches he trusted in different roles ( with less responsibility than they had previously been very successful in for him)? Sure. Is that a reason to fire him and think he isn’t the same guy? Of course not. I don’t see anyone that was available last year that I’d rather have them OBrien right now.

Are we holding him to a ridiculous standard? That standard being that he’s not the same guy if he isn’t the most successful ever for 24 years instead of just the unfathomable 20 he was? Every organization has down periods and this one is a consequence of the success and extending it so long.
Do you really think you are going to find someone else who would be immune to a drop off from the greatest level of success ever?

Yes because one game makes a season.

I am not so sure he is. He seems to surround himself with guys who are less apt to challenge him, such as his sons. I do believe that BoB might stand him up, so that's a step in the right direction. I think he's been very happy to bring in players that he wants to coach instead of ones that may do the job better, but, for lack of a better word, are ****heads. He stated that he wants to coach guys he wants to coach, and he said he's earned that right. I am not so sure that those guys always add up to the best players available.

Agreed.

No I don't think we are. They were really, really bad to begin this year, following a step in the wrong direction last year. Coupled with a seemingly lack of interest to follow offensive trends, specifically at WR and "doing it his way", I think it's fair to question if he's the right guy for the future.
Do you really think you are going to find someone else who would be immune to a drop off from the greatest level of success ever?
No, I think the next guy, again for a lack of a better phrase, won't be able to carry Bill's jock strap. That doesn't change the fact that eventually, someone will have to do it.

So now we are making things up? Why would you create an issue about “challenging” him. How would you possibly know if that’s an issue ever was, or is now?
The “coach players I like” was an offhand comment to his buddy in a SB eve interview. You act like it is some kind of mantra written in stone and the new criteria. Who likes coaching players they don’t like?

So you think that he isn’t the same guy because he won’t follow someone else’s trend? Do you think we win all those years by copying what other teams did or by establishing our own identity?

Eventually someone will but the best interest of the franchise would be served by that being as far in the future as possible.

Lol Why? You're going to argue the opposite till you're blue in the face regardless.
Then why respond at all?
You said they are significantly worse than last year.
Yet they are 2-5 vs 3-4 and just beat a better team than they beat all of last year.
The first 6 games were heavily impacted by terrible OL play, largely doe to injuries and last week with the healthiest OL of the season they played much better and the entire offense improved dramatically.
So why do you think they are SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE than last year? If you just realize you are wrong and don’t want to have a discussion, say so.

Because arguing with you is a waste of time. You just state your opinions as facts and insult anyone who disagrees. I already know what you're going to respond with before you even type it up. It is an endless circle with you.

I do not insult anyone.
What do you expect that I would post things I haven’t thought through and just change my mind because you make a superfluous comment?
That’s what you did. You said they have gotten worse every year.
If you knew I was going to respond by saying they improved from 2020 to 2021 why would you make an incorrect statement or not accept you were wrong? You being wrong is not a me problem.
I disagree, and I gave reasons why they are not significantly worse this year than last (I originally questioned are they worse, do we even know?) and you have refused to give any reasoning.

If you want ti run around making unsupported comments and cry when someone questions the validity of them, you should respond to someone else’s posts. The resident fellowship of the miserable members will be happy to pay you on the back for anything you say negative about the patriots, even if you make it up. They may be more to your liking.

Yes just give Bill the job forever as a lifetime achievement award.

No give it to him as long as he is willing to do it because he is the best man who has ever done the job.

That's the SAME ****ING THING.

You've allowed your boi-love of Billy to block ALL critical thinking about him.

Quite the contrary.
1) I do not have “boi-love” for anyone
2) you seem obsessed with homosexuality.
3) I am 100% objective
4) the GOAT is the best man for the job

You’re completely wrong about that.

As an example, Belichick has a better winning percentage than Ron Rivera during the exact same time period and he’s still coaching Washington.

Sean Payton had three straight years in the mid-2010s with a 7-9 record.

Marvin Lewis had worse 4-year stretches with the Bengals and he went on to coach another 10 years.

Established coaches get lot of leeway. A 6x-Super Bowl winning coach is going to get a lot more.

So yeah, you’re simply wrong lol.
How many of those coaches were in their 70s?

Our personnel is fine. We need one more tackle, a top WR and probably a new QB. Otherwise, this team is set to compete.
Lol, you just mentioned 3 of the top 5 most expensive positions.

I don’t think
Clearly.

If Bill’s salary doesn’t apply to the cap or affect the team it’s obviously none of our business. I suppose fans have a ‘right’ to know what our teams are spending on WRs but it’s Krafts money with Bill, so who cares?
Not sure why Bill's salary is such a secret. Everyone knows how much Kraft spent for a hj/bj.
