If this is Bill’s last season as HC, who do you want as a replacement?

He’s not coming to the NFL to coach.
Make him an offer that he can't refuse.

Some people's heads would explode if it happened though. It would be entertaining for sure and he could actually end up being a decent coach. He'd also be a FA magnet. I'll have to send a letter to Krafty Bob and tell him to open up the vault and make it happen.

Deion Sanders, he's our man, and if he can't do it... nobody can.

Like I said, maybe Mac really was their guy and they trade back 5-10 spots and get Mac and a first round pick in 2022. Mac would still be Mac but they would have had an extra first round pick for rebuild 2.0.
Trade value on that drop is 500, a 2nd rounder. But yes, they'd be better off with an early 2nd round pick. Now--consider that the team somehow spun those 7 wins together with a QB who looked like he couldn't throw and a roster that was depleted of its best players (Damiere Byrd and NKeal Harry are your starting WRs). Byron Cowart and John Simon are starting DLs. Outside of Gilmore and Thuney EVERYONE else is gone. (Mason played hurt all year and he looked it).

If this wasn't a team meant to tank, I don't know what to tell you.

If the prospect of Cam Newton throwing to Byrd and Harry doesn't give you nightmares, I mean really now.

This team outperformed and won 7 games.

Go back and look at that roster.

And nobody in stadiums to see it.

Not everyone who excels in college wants to be, or is cut out to be, an NFL coach. Hell, Nick Saban tried it and quit after one season.

Plus being Coach Prime gives him recruiting advantages at the college level he can't really utilize in the NFL.
Didn't Pete Carroll get a leg up on the NYFL when he spent time coaching college and seeing players up close?

And Deion is liked by pro players too. He's an all-time NYFL great.

Imagine a presser with Deion, after a win or a loss, and how much better it would be than those we've had from Sourpuss for decades?

Go for it Bob! Do it!

A home run of a draft this spring might mean the Pats contend for a title in a couple of years instead of being irrelevant for a long time. They can't let BB screw this draft up with his vanity projects or doing his friends a solid by picking their players. The team is approaching a crossroads and the decisions they have to make are too important to f-around. BB must be separated from his GM duties first and then they can take it from there.
You said it best his friends! We all know BBs life has been football. We know he has friends and associates all over the sport. But it's just time to have some outside input not associated with BB. We know to justify the 25 Mill. Salary he's the GM/HC. That's alot of responsibility he's taken on over 23 seasons. Me personally I'd like Mike Tannenbaum to be a consultant on picking players.. he knows how to correctly identify talent on all sided of the Ball. We've had the same system for 23 seasons so BB has always wanted guys to fit in his system. The guys we did hit on last 2 seasons are either on IR or underperforming. Special teams has sorely been lacking without Marcus.

You want a guy who is the master of self-hype with no winning coaching pedigree simply because he's a media darling and gives good pressers? I will give you that, your pressers will be the absolute opposite of Bill.

Absolutely not Jerod Mayo.

No one from.this current staff, especially a defensive oriented coach. Blow it up

If it is him, welcome another 5 years of mediocrity/irrelevance.

************. You wanna fire a legend in the middle of the season. Good god no.

Bill will not be fired. Ever. It will be a resignation
He could resign during the season couldn't he?

Maybe he and Bob will come to some sort of an agreement that will benefit everyone, like a trade to a team of Bill's choice, during or after the season.

I say better too early than too late.

This is the attitude that many fans, here and around the league, had toward Bill when he came here. He was accused of losing his marbles and even called names by the press. He did pretty well here.

A man who's an all-time great NYFL winner does have a winning pedigree and proved it on the field, not on the sideline. Now give him a shot at it on the sideline too. Nobody has any clue how Deion Sanders would do in the NYFL and I'm not sure that the idea is as far-fetched as some fans think. The main problem I'm hearing is that he doesn't want it yet.

Sounds to me like you want him because he's entertaining.

I would prefer a guy who's young and is the next offensive wiz kid. I certainly don't want a brand name or the king of self promotion.

Question? When is BBs contract up? I don't hear much talk about this.
We have no clue what goes on behind the scenes of any NYFL team but especially this one. It's funny how the players' contract numbers are a constant drumbeat but not the coaches' contracts.

I'm pretty sure that Bob and Bill have sat down and gone over all the options. Hopefully we can get something for him if he goes elsewhere.

That will slow down getting our own coach so at this point I’ve accepted no draft comp.

Yes, I like him because he's entertaining and I have no clue if he's a whiz kid or not and neither do you or anyone else. There are probably plenty of coaches over the years that had that label and are out of football now.

I remember reading many years ago about a baseball agent who was predicting that players would be better off financially as entertainers than as athletes. That seemed to be when that comparison first started but I read about it again years later in an article about the emergence of FOX into the NYFL in the 90's.

They all want to be called entertainers now and they won me over. Entertain me Bob.

We are definitely not on the same page. I do not need, nor want, the coach of my favorite team to be entertaining. Just win, baby.

I can only guess but I think there's more than one team that would want Bill and may give Bob something to "take him off our hands" for a pick or two. I'll take slightly more than Bob gave the Jets to get Bill.

Bob's picking the players here? I didn't know that.

No matter who it is though, it doesn't look like he has a leg up as much as he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

The Jets received the Patriots 16th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, along with a fourth and seventh in 2001. In return, the Patriots got Belichick, a fifth-round pick in 2001, and a seventh-round pick in 2002.

I do not see anyone giving the Pats a 1st, 4th, and 7th for a 71 year old legend who's captained the team to a 1-5 start.

I am perplexed, really. On the one hand, you and a lot of folks want Bill gone so bad that you can taste it, yet you want to hold out for a better deal than the Jets received when they gave him up. That makes no sense to me. If he's so valuable as an asset, why are you so quick to dismiss him?

From my seat, he's got zero trade value. If, somehow, miraculously, they win out, then perhaps... oh, who am I kidding. They aren't winning out.

Tedi said it best yesterday:
"What do I personally feel [about] how this should go, and how this should end with Bill Belichick? This is just my personal feeling on what should happen," Bruschi said on ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown," via Boston.com." I want him to coach his ass off this season and get six, seven wins, all right?

"Have them playing respectable by the end of the season, and walk away. That's what I want my former coach to do. Don't -- Shula doesn't matter. You've got multiple Super Bowls over Shula. You're a better coach."

It really is irrelevant what their record was since we picked Mac Jones, the guy we were always going to pick.

So you want to keep Thuney or trade him?

Thuney is still playing at a very high level. Personally I always want to keep my All_Pros or Pro Bowlers entering their 2nd contracts. That's the meat of their career right there. Keeping him during a 3 year rebuild means he's still performing when you're into performance mode out of the rebuild.
I would have let him walk that offseason prior to 2020. Get a third round comp pick to help with the rebuild. I also wouldn't have started Cam the last 6 weeks of the season and see if Stidham could at least be a backup in the league. I would have let Slater and McCourty walk and gone into a true rebuild.

We are definitely not on the same page. I do not need, nor want, the coach of my favorite team to be entertaining. Just win, baby.
That guy was entertaining AND a winner. Right now we have neither.
