Mac and the "It Factor"

Personally, I am at the point that I am less concerned who is at the QB position next year and more concerned that they are building the offense to become an offense that is suited for the 2020s.

But Daniel Jones is a case for giving Jones his fifth year. If the Giants gave Daniel Jones his fifth year option, they wouldn't be stuck with him after this year. I think how this year plays out will be the deciding factor on whether they do give him a fifth year option. But I think if they don't, they will have made the determination that they are moving on from him. If they are going to give him one more year to decide, they will pick up the fifth year.

Serious question.

Are you Mac uncle? Uncle Rob.

I am not advocating picking up the 5th year option. I am saying if they are going to give him another shot next season, they have to pick up fifth year option. But I didn't rule out that the Patriots move on from him after this season. I said I am less concerned who is the QB. Meaning I don't care as much if it Mac Jones or a veteran or a rookie at this point. My overall point is if they don't change the offense, it doesn't matter who they get unless the QB is elite.

You're using Dan Jones as an example to keep Corky Jones.

Jeez! I am using Dan Jones as the reason you have to pick up the fifth year option on a QB unless you have given up on him for year three. Look what happened with Dan Jones. He had a good year and the Giants were forced to give him a contract a $160 million contract with $92 million guaranteed rather than picking up his fifth year option for $20 million or so. That is the risk you have with Mac Jones.

They weren’t forced to give him anything.

If the Pat's give your nephew any more money, I will learn to fly planes and tow my own banner over Gillette.

What was the cost to franchise him?

I think it was $32 million. So I guess that was definitely an option, but they had to franchise Barkley. If they could have gotten a deal done with Barkley, they had that option.

But with all these big money contracts, the franchise tag in 2025 could be north of $40 million for a QB.

Yawn, if you are going to waste bandwidth with this crap, at least try to be funny.

I'll take that slice of the conversation thanks.

Rob even Gronk said the next time BB pulls Mac Jones will be the last time he plays QB for the N.E. Patriots. Three strikes and you're out!

I wonder how long Daniel Jones' contract is before they can get out from it.

If he gets benched again, that means he had another disaster of a game. You only get so many of those games before a team totally gives up on you. So yes, if he is gets benched again, he is done as the Pats' QB. But hasn't gotten benched again.

I am thinking there would be very few franchises which would want to pay Mac Jones north of 30 million.

I am thinking JC Jackson also flaming out in chargers is going to make teams very leery of paying top dollars to patriots players.

Mac I believe should be worth less than a franchise tag in 2025. He needs to play lights out this season and next season to bag the big contract . It might be better not to pick up his 5th year option to light a fire in his belly.

Mac is most likely getting moved this off-season. I don’t see Bill or the new coaching staff picking up his option.

Nah, they'll pick up his option. Play him next year and then trade him the following year.
We’ll see. His option isn’t cheap.

It also depends on draft position and what FA is available.
