Mac Jones Through 2 Games (2021 vs 2022 vs 2023) By QTR and Redzone Totals

Technically, Mac only has two seasons of NFL experience. 2022 does not count.
Now in saying that and it is slightly early but the I am not convinced he is going to get a second contract with the Patriots.
Mac played 13 out of 17 games last season. Your statement is not technical at all.

I'm not a Mac hater and it's nice to see his game progressing in different ways. I am a Pats fan after all. I suspect his current stats are slightly inflated from needing to be more aggressive from always playing behind.

There isn't a stat to quantify it, but so far this year the issue that I see is the timeliness of his big errors.

Of course you did because it goes along with your narrative that the pass offense is all good.

We heard about it all offseason, through camp, but we never saw any proof and nobody is seeing proof now, but you. I just let you run amok and kept silent, but not any more now that the truth is out.

The NE offense is ranked 22nd and that is a reflection of your QB. Chicago shares the spot with NE.

Justin Herbert is also 0 - 2 with the 6th ranked offense.

Short and unproductive drives like right now?

Defenses are crowding the LOS and daring the Pats to pass. They like INTs and your boy is on pace for 17. Progress.

Blaming the OL right on que.

Do you realize that Tua has less time than Corky to throw?

You will never admit that youre wrong.

Wrong all off season. Wrong now and wrong tomorrow.

Corky proves my point every game.

Wow! I don't know where to begin with all of this? I would just suggest to you to walk away from the keyboard until you sober up. Friends don't let friends post to message boards drunk.

LOL! Where did I say nothing was Mac's fault? If you cannot see the biggest problem with the offense thus far is offensive line and the second isn't remotely close. And I would put Mac pretty far down on the blame pie, but he deserves some blame.

I have blamed Mac for both INTs although Parker isn't blameless for getting forced out of bounds and then not fighting for the ball. But ultimately, they are Mac's fault. I criticized Mac for a lot of his passes to the right side of the field. And he has made some bad decisions. But overall, he played pretty well with what he has to work with. Could a better QB get better results? Probably. But that o-line is pretty abysmal.

You see this is what you Mac haters default to in any argument. You accuse anyone who is pointing out what Mac is working with as just taking all the blame off of Mac and making excuses. I wasn't.

But there is little evidence this year that Mac has little pocket awareness. It just isn't true. If he did, he probably would be on IR right now on how bad the offensive line has been.
And all you guys do is excuse his poor play... it's guaranteed in any thread about Mac, the online is brought up right away... for me Mac is not the guy who is ever going to lead this team to success... he's a .500 QB until he proves otherwise.

I don't excuse his poor play. Overall, he has played like the best player on the offense which is faint praise. But he isn't without flaws.

And to me, which I have said over and over again, Mac's ceiling is an unknown. You may be right. You may be wrong. But because of the situation we don't know and there is a good chance that we won't know at the end of the year. It is impossible to judge him right now with a makeshift o-line that consistently let's defenders rush free, Belichick benching the only receiver with speed, and no running game. That isn't an excuse for his play. It is saying that we cannot make an accurate judgement on the guy in a situation like this.

In 2019, Brady faced some of the similar situations and he looked like a player on decline because of age. It was a big reason why the 49ers decided to stick with Garoppolo rather than signing Brady. If Brady had better players around him in 2019, Kraft might have made Belichick make a stronger effort to keep Brady.

So if I am saying that about Brady in 2019, I am saying the same thing about Jones in 2023.

Every team in the league that gets a young QB tries to build up an offensive line and give him high quality passing weapons. They also aim for consistency. We've routinely had the worst passing corp in the league since he's been here (and before), have had patchwork lines, and he's had 3 OC's.

If this was the Jets, we'd all be laughing about how stupid they are for sabotaging their QB. The problem with Mac right now is not that he's good or bad. It's that we don't know what the hell he is because the team has provided a poor baseline to compare him to anyone else.

@Pape I have no problems with what you posted regarding Mac that's the same things I see. You cannot depend on the D to get you lead and score every single week. Offense have to pull it's weight and it begins with the QB Mac's a First Rounder play like one. It's time for him to put this Team on his back and carry it I think if he does it once it will carry over.

No. he does not score enough points. Which is a real problem in an offense driven league.

He isn't the entire offense though. Unfortunately, until they stabilize the o-line, we are not going to have a running game and we are going to be an one dimensional pass offense that will have to rely on short quick passes without any speed at WR beyond Douglas. That is the realities of the Patriots right now. We are going to rely on long sustained drives of 10-15 plays because the Pats aren't built right now to get yards in bunches.

Fair enough even Kenny Pickett have a few come from behind wins and he's just in year two.

Pickett is a god awful QB for 58 minutes and plays well the final two. As long as the Steelers defense can keep the opposing offense in the low teens, Pickett is your QB. Otherwise, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. One of those from behind game winning drives, the Steelers won 16-13 (against a Tyler Huntley led Ravens and the Ravens were driving after that score and Huntley was intercepted) and the other the Steelers won 13-10 vs the Raiders. So let's put those last drive wins by Pickett in context.

Does that include the Patriots??
Did you read the rest of my post?

Nitpick much Rob?? They still go down as a come from behind win I don't make the rules.

The lengths the Mactards are going to simply because of a 4/1 split on passing/rushing TDs over two games (and also because they were playing catch up due to being way behind, often against a soft zone.)

But how many times did Mac come from behind in the 4th quarter and then the defense let him down? Look at the Cowboys game his rookie year. Mac leads the Patriots back from behind and on a 3rd and 27 with only seconds left out of field goal range, the defense gives up 26 yards to make it an easy field goal to go into overtime. That is same situation as Pickett had last year with the Ravens except the Steelers defense caused an INT rather than allowing than allowing them to get into field goal range.

That is why this 4th quarter comeback thing is a little overstated by people. I think that is why people grossly overrated Pickett going into the season.

This thread. I appreciate what @Ian is trying to do with the original post, but the guys that hate Mac Jones aren't gonna bend. Like @Rob0729 said, it's like arguing politics. These guys will hate on him until he's run out of town. If they are lucky enough to win, that group will say it will be in spite of Mac. If they don't, then their anger with the team not winning will have another scapegoat.

It's to the point that there really isn't anything to discuss. Ian posts stats, people shoot 'em down.
