To me, it really seems like the Pats are using the next week and a half of practices to figure out exactly what they have on Oline since so many are coming back from injuries or are new pickups. I expect they'll drop one or two of them by the first game and hopefully the line will have had time to gel a little.

I know it's crazy, but I see the OL personnel seem pretty set for now.

Reiff to IR. Brown/Strange/Anderson/Sow/Andrews/Andrews/Strange/Mafi/Onwenu are set. I don't see the team giving up on Lowe quickly unless he's a complete bust because they gave up a 6th. The only player who might rotate is Wheatley.

Who plays will be based on health and conditioning, and that they will sort out, but this is a pretty set area for now MO.

Yeah, 10 OL. I can see that. But I also wouldn't be surprised if they move one if they feel like they need a spot and they have some depth on the PS.

No question. They aren't keeping 6 or 7 OTs on the game day roster. They'll IR 1-2 and waive another one.

I'd be shocked if TT doesn't go on IR for the first month
Reiff and Anderson to IR too (Anderson would be great to have for swing tackle, but seems he'll need a bit to get back to football shape)
That will make room for a QB2, and RB3, and TE3
They're stacked at D, disproportionately actually. Could bump Wade & Roberts to IR, or try to sneak cut them to PS.
I think they may try to bring Malik back to the 53 as the emergency 3rd QB

No point to bringing Anderson off NFI just to IR him, wastes a roster spot for no good reason. He can come back from NFI same as IR.

Forget the mythical Foxboro Flu, Wade and Robert’s have to be injured to go to IR and they’re not.

TE3 is on the roster, it’ll be Wheatley or some PS signing.

I get the feeling like they don't know exactly where they are with Anderson, or how he relates to the new OTs. So bring him back from NFI, have him practice for a week or so with the rest of the line and then make an assessment.

It's going to be a nerve racking day to see who gets pilfered from our desired PS.

And, can the team move someone to short term IR starting today? Not sure the timing on that.

If you take the current roster and add in the sorts of players the team is likely to get rummaging through other teams' castoffs, even under the sunniest of anticipations, what sort of roster are you looking at? To me, it looks like a team headed for a losing record and last place in the division. BO'B aside, I think the team will be worse this year than last, and I struggle to see how that is anything other than unacceptable. I know everybody is tired of hearing it, but this team needs a GM. Sometimes all the other teams are zagging for a reason, and overly-clever zigging is just plain dumb. The mishandling of the O-line is sheer dereliction, isn't it? If this is a multi-year rebuild, where's the progress? RB? TE? QB? OL? Can anyone argue there is a balanced allocation of resources, offense vs defense? When you have to keep 11 offensive linemen, stripping other groups of talent and potential in the hope that your O-line might (might) at some point rise to the level of mediocrity, what are you doing? Has the drafting been well done over the past several years? Have needs been anticipated? Have the pipeline and the bench held replacements for players you knew were coming to the end of their playing years? Maybe playing chess when the game is checkers isn't always all that d----d smart.

From his comments it sounded like Anderson has been working closely with strength and conditi9ningvand nutrition staffs, band Klemm, so they might know pretty well where he stands and just need practices to work on timing and coordination with the overall unit.

those last are what they also need to work on with the new guys. Klemm will be busy the next couple of weeks. I expect the OL will be surprisingly good against the Eagles, whoever ends up as starters.

Yes, but not sure what time.

Included in the roster strategy, remember they don't need to bring up a third TE or RB because they can promote someone off the squad on game day.

To be able to return from IR, a player has to remain on the roster at 4:00 today and then can go on IR after that. Any claims at noon today will come at the cost of somebody on the roster, not via IRing Reiff/Thornton.

Oh, good info there. I hope Anderson gets up to speed fast. The Pats liked him a lot during the spring workouts.

I'm not sure how the line will be against the Eagles, but I think they'll settle into place pretty quickly after that.

Not as much as Josh but BOB had Jay Prosh for 4 years there as the only true FB. He only played 10 snaps a game. Mostly a ST guy
We'll have to wait for when Josh comes back as OC to get a true FB again, then.

LOL. I don't see the Raiders having a great year so who knows.
I need him to hold on for two seasons, as I can't imagine BOB will stick around any longer than that.
