So here is the 53 man roster as it stands after the cuts... there are several position groups that need to be filled out...

Offense
Quarterback (1): Mac Jones
Running back (2): Rhamondre Stevenson, Ezekiel Elliott
Wide receiver (6): DeVante Parker, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kendrick Bourne, Demario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Tyquan Thornton
Tight end (2): Hunter Henry, Mike Gesicki
Offensive line (11): Trent Brown, Cole Strange, David Andrews, Mike Onwenu, Riley Reiff, Jake Andrews, Sidy Sow, Atonio Mafi, Tyrone Wheatley Jr., Vederian Lowe, Calvin Anderson

Defense
Defensive tackle (5): Davon Godchaux, Christian Barmore, Lawrence Guy, Sam Roberts, Daniel Ekuale
Edge (5): Matthew Judon, Josh Uche, Keion White, Anfernee Jennings, Deatrich Wise
Linebacker (4): Ja'Whaun Bentley, Jahlani Tavai, Marte Mapu, Mack Wilson Sr.
Safety (4): Kyle Dugger, Adrian Phillips, Jalen Mills, Jabrill Peppers
Cornerback (6): Christian Gonzalez, Jack Jones, Jonathan Jones, Marcus Jones, Myles Bryant, Shaun Wade

Special Teams
Specialists (7): Chad Ryland, Bryce Baringer, Joe Cardona, Matthew Slater, Brenden Schooler, Chris Board, Ameer Speed

Things will get shifted about as players get claimed, or get added to the practice squad ... some general thoughts

Need at least 1 more QB
Need at least 1 more RB, preferably 2
Would like to see 1 more TE
Shaun Wade made the cut at CB? why?
11 players on the OLine seems excessive... but with injury considerations, some may be cleared out and placed on ir or the pup eventually so maybe pick up a few roster spots there...
7 Special Teams players? Kicker Punter LS, Slater and Schooler Yes ... but Board and Speed could go and no one would notice...

what would you change/add/subtract?

Minus 3: Wade, Bryant, and one of the OTs
Plus 3: Vet outside CB, vet backup QB, and any RB

Reiff and thornton to ir or pup. Bring in a qb and rb.

Is wade any better this year? I haven’t watched too closely but last year he looked brutL

I'll abstain on giving thoughts until we get closer to the weekend because if I settled with this...

Too many STers . 4 pure play STer makes no sense in today's NFL.

Anyways I have a feeling Reiff / Thornton would be IR cuts and Speed / Wade and Mack Wilson could be potential cuts around 6th week.

Man, on a basic logic level, it seems odd.
Cut almost all the QB's, RB's, & TE's in favor of 4 STO players and a bunch of extra OL's.
They are certainly going to shuffle this lopsided roster in the next couple days.
I expect at least 2 or 3 to go on short-term IR, and bring in an outside QB, RB & maybe TE from the cutdowns.
I'd start with Siemian, Gaskin, and maybe James/Asiasi

Need another RB.
Don't need another QB right away.
If Mac gets hurt do they compete with some dude off the street that doesn't know the playbook?

It's a very odd makeup. One injury to any of these positions and the team is screwed.

But I don't think this is the final roster

I think you nailed it. Those are the needs.

I don't get Wade being kept. Gotta think the NEP are waiting for what happens with Jones

It's NFL roster musical chairs right now. Keep the "must keeps" by taking a risk losing desirable players. Once most teams have filled out their 53 man rosters and PS, the Pats will make more moves.

Wade is here in case Jack Jones isn't allowed to play week 1, and/or Jon Jones has a set back on his return. If one or both of those things trend positively, I could see them cutting him.

As others have said, there's also a good chance they IR Reiff and Thornton.

They've often carried 9 OL, but may go a bit heavy there early on while they wait for Anderson to get back in shape and sort out who's a keeper amongst the new acquisitions. It's also possible they keep 10 OL and use an extra tackle as the 3rd TE in jumbo packages. Sokol and/or Firkser can be on the practice squad for injury and matchup callups.

53 is going to look a lot different by tomorrow.

Wade has shown in preseason he's a Myles Bryant with versatility. The team probably feels if they keep him off the original roster reshuffling, they can sneak him on to the practice squad later. EDIT - or agree with above - Jack Jones insurance.

As has been mentioned, Reiff will be IR'd so it's really 10 OL. All the silly talk about Foxboro Flu. If there was such a thing rookie Andrews would be on it for sure.

A good example of what the Foxboro flu actually is would be Bolden, but it is camouflaged because of the nature of his injury. Bolden would likely be out of concussion protocol, and be able to play this season, if he were not a rookie or someone the team is not counting on for 2023. If this injury were an ankle or shoulder, posters would call it the Foxboro Flu, but the team doesn't just make up injuries.

Thanks for the insight into the ir... appreciate it

Wade for Jones... hope not... if that's the case a vet CB should be brought in ... has to be better than what Wade offers

Obviously this isn't the 53 man squad they're going to start the actual season with. You can't have just two RBs and only one QB. So they'll get some vet to come in as backup QB - someone competent who can pick up the offense quickly. They'll try to stash Malik on the PS...maybe Zappe as well. They'll add at least one more RB, though maybe for NOW, only one more RB. I agree with the idea that they kept both Wade and Bryant just to see what happens with Jack Jones. I also think they're going to end up cutting one of the OL after seeing about health and who is ready for week 1.

So for me, by the time week 1 arrives...

- Cut Wade, add QB
- Cut one of the OL, add RB
- Tyquan to the IR, add another RB? (not sure about this one)
- Try to add Sokol and Firsker to PS along with Cunningham and maybe Zappe (who they suddenly don't actually seem very interested in)

Something like that.

Agree. Wade is a backup to the backup and has done nothing here to warrant a roster spot. Allegedly he had a very good camp. Whatever.

In the event Jack Jones is jailed/suspended I would assume Jon Jones/Mills start on the other side of Gonzo and M Jones and Miles Away Bryant back them up or at FS.

To me, it really seems like the Pats are using the next week and a half of practices to figure out exactly what they have on Oline since so many are coming back from injuries or are new pickups. I expect they'll drop one or two of them by the first game and hopefully the line will have had time to gel a little.

RB is way too thin.
WR cut Thrornton or Boutte, but 1 must go.
