Waived injured I think. He may well retire if he’s out for the season with his injury.
Yeah.. I mentioned that the other day. When I saw it was a knee injury, and the fact he looked like a 30 plus O lineman all off season. Klemm will earn every bit of that salary this season.

We should have made a full court press to bring back Cole popovich this year... he seemed to get "it" ... maybe we did, but I hadn't heard a whisper of such a move this off-season...
hard NO.

Popovich “got it” so well he put his unscientific anti-vax beliefs ahead of NFL rules and dumped his job with the Patriots over that. He made his choice.

That's right! Forgot he was another anti- vaxer..

The key is Trent Brown. If he plays reasonably well then the line has enough to be decent with Onwenu, Strange, Andrews and the rookies and new OTs. If he doesn't...hopefully Mac has excellent life insurance.
Exactly. He needs to be able to pass block w/o help. At RT you can get away with it with a TE/H-back chipping the pass rusher and releasing as check down option. Plus it's not Mac's blind side.

Philly had 70 sacks last year.

At this point might as spend the first month in 22 personnel lol.

@RobertWeathers - I'll say.. I'm terrified for Mac behind this line this season. I've mentioned if whoever is out there cannot gel, protect, Mac could very well be on IR by week 5.
It's not a good situation right now. All we can is hope they get healthy and gel as a unit.

It seems to me like the only responsible solution is to play Onwenu at RT, at least during the first quarter or half of the year. Mafi (or Reiff, if he's not lost to injury or some kind of retirement) will be good enough at RG; they could get by. This lets Wheatley Jr, Sow, and Lowe settle in and get more comfortable. One of the new guys is probably the early season LT backup, because there really is none while Anderson is on NFI. Whenever Anderson returns, assuming no other injuries (big assumption), you'd have a surplus of tackles who are hopefully healthy. At that point you could tinker with putting Onwenu back at RG and playing Sow or one of the new guys at RT to try to field your "best 5".

However, Onwenu may not be ready for week 1 even if he is the RT (not a given), so we should probably all be prepared to see Sow as the starting week 1 RT either way unless a guy like Wheatly Jr can adapt really quickly. Sow wasn't a disaster but against Philly, he might need some help from the TE or a sixth OL with regularity.

Agreed, guys we are counting on like ownenu haven't been in a game since last season. So I'm thinking.. realistically how much can Ownenu really do right now coming off a serious anke surgery. I'm trying to fine optimism.. but the defensive fronts we see starting off with Philly I'm sure is licking thier chops. If we can't protect then having BOB makes no difference this season!

Bump. I really liked that guy. He was shaping up to be Dante’s successor…until he refused the experimental jab. But he’s back in the league. An assistant with the Texans.

I like that we are adding tackle depth... and it seems like they are going for younger guys that could possibly stick long term ... what I don't like is that it's so late in the training camp cycle...

With that said, I like both moves made to solidify the ot position... both players are a bit raw, but have the size and (potential) ability to be more than swing players, given time... all depends on coaching... which leads us to Adrian klemm...

Klemm has yet to show he can put together a solid line that communicates well with each other... that criticism might be unfair considering that the "starters" haven't really played... but injuries happen and you gotta deal... I expected a bit more from the line play after the opposing teams 1s had gotten their reps in the preseason games... but the ol play was just plain bad...

While I wish Klemm could make lemonade out of lemons... He's trying to coach up a squad of mid-round picks and washed up veteran journey-men. Andrews/Onwenu/Strange should be fine in the interior but there is not one player on the roster that I think can be an above average NFL tackle (prior to these trades). Sure, the acquisitions should help but its a big head-scratcher that BB thought the original group was adequate.

Klemm is no Dante .... But Dante also had guys like Matt Light/Nate Solder/Sebastian Vollmer/Marcus Cannon at Tackle positions. That helps tremendously. I just can't think of a year where Dante had to go into the season with such a bad group of talent at Tackle positions.

Unfortunately, I think the failure/success of this group is going to be highly dependent on what we can get out of Trent Brown... and that scares me.

I want Klemm to be a miracle worker, but considering the pieces he's being given and being given even this late in preseason, I'm reserving judgment until Thanksgiving or so. I want to see the line start to come together and be better than the sum of its parts.

All this last minute cramming could have been alleviated by, as some of us criticized, _drafting_ tackles. We had what 14 picks the last draft?

Guys with higher ceilings were there.
okay, I get it. You are smarter than Bill. Enough!

Happy the team didn't waste that draft pick on Trey Lance. See there is a method to the madness...
