Player Signing New Pats OT Tyrone Wheatley Jr

Yes. But my guess is LT. The move to RT occurred later.

Anderson all the sudden got a disease or something. I’m speculating Lyme. Who knows.

Then McDermott beat out Reiff…but still couldn’t pass block.

It turned into an “Oh, sh-t” moment.

Cuz Anderson can be LT and Trent Brown RT. That could be beautiful. And Sow is developed at OT for the year with Reiff ahead of him. But they quickly realize Reiff doesn’t have much left in the tank. About to turn 35. This ain’t rocket science, boys.

I don't think it's Lyme disease for Anderson. I think it's a heart issue along the lines of myocarditis. Yes, it's PURE speculation on my part, but considering the players like HAMLER and Hamlin, it wouldn't surprise me if he's got an issue.

I'm optimistic of this being a Mike Vrabel/Rob Ninkovich type pickup - little/unused by one team, but good fit for the Pats. It's at a position of need plus RBs are very easily attainable these days (see Zeke and Cook as examples) whether free agency or via draft. (yeah go ahead with Steven Jackson call backs - different times and team).

I wouldn't say Harris and Strong both suck. There were other backs apparently the Pats liked equally well and were able to get a needed tackle that they seemed to value. Maybe we could give it a chance. Every time a player is named on this board, half of the people have to make it into an indictment of Bill Belichick. You can't keep them all. They don't all work out. Bill is not infallible. This is less of a Pats board and more of a Bill Belichick dart board.
Suck was easier to type than mediocre with my thumb

Now I want to know what is klemm doing from a coaching perspective.
Holy expectation management Batman! Is the expectation that coaching not only will change the physical and mental makeup of EVERY player, but ALSO do it in less than six weeks???

Scar is the GOAT OL coach, but he didn't make silk purses from sows ears in that amount of time either - it usually took some actual time.

While I agree with the people that say OT should have been addressed better and earlier, with where we stand now, being proactive before the waiver wire is a good move.

Wheatley isn't a proven JAG.... he could have great upside. We'll find out, probably sooner than we'd like.

Philadelphia DEs licking their chops
It appears that one of the mods deleted my post suggesting that you perhaps walk in front of a moving bus as a prelude to a celebration by everyone here other than your fellow members of the Bill Haters Club (also known as the Miserable Pukes Patrol).

I want to apologize for my post. Everyone makes a mistake now and then. I meant to type M1 Abrams tank, not bus. Those things are super cool with rad technology and I simply thought that you may enjoy an extra close encounter.

Because Sow is the better athlete, is more experienced by a wide margin at the position, and has the prototype nfl length.

Moving him to RT has been a move borne out of desperation as McD beat out aged Reiff at RT. But the former practice squad player lacks the ability to pass block well.
They drafted Sow to play tackle and said that from day one, they didn’t move him there out of desperation.

Priceless

Yes. But he had only played on the left side for his six years in college. So…thinking left side.

I don't know if JJ will produce, but I think Bill might keep him on the 53 over Montgomery and certainly Harris.
Taylor will produce if the Pats get him the ball out in space where he has the opportunity to make people miss. These small guys have the potential to wreak havoc in the NFL because they are shifty and difficult to grab. No more dumba55 runs up the middle where the defense is ready and waiting.

Ivan Fears calls Taylor "Mini Dion Lewis"

What? You have no clue what is wrong with him. None. Zero.
Hamlin had his heart rhythm altered by being hit at the exact millisecond required. How does that have anything to do with Anderson. Why not speculate it’s cancer or a brain hemhorrage?

True, but Pats like to see if their OTs can play both sides. So it makes sense to try him in preseason on both sides.

RBs taken in 4th round are normally expected to contribute significant reps and even become starters. We usually take RBs in rounds 3-4, mostly redshirt year 1, contribute year 2 and become an important part of offense by year 3.
Not when they are playing behind TWO all pro quality RB's. Read the room Amed. Where are the Pats issues this preseason. The Wheatley kid had a lights out preseason for Cleveland (at least according to PFF) in 96 snaps. So its not like he is a slug. He also has a full NFL season playing the position (albeit on te PS). He is a SOLID Tackle prospect at a position of need. In order to get such a prospect you have to give up something. Strong is a solid prospect at RB at a position we have good depth at. Simple as that. We traded need for need. Both teams win.

Where they were drafted ENDs the day they put on the jersey. At that point they are all just players who have to EARN their way on the 53. The ONLY people who care AFTER that point are the fans and media because we like to keep score and use that "score" to create content or support one narrative or another. The coaches ONLY care about who the guys on the field are REGARDLESS of how they come on to the team.

That’s just a pivot after you said something definitive and were proven wrong after someone provided facts.

He was drafted to play tackle, “desperation” isn’t the reason he’s running with the ones. Trent Brown was clearly the left tackle and they needed a RT to replace Wynn.

They don’t draft a linemen specifically for a side anyway, they draft them and see what they can do. Hopefully they can play both sides. So far he has earned his snaps with the ones, Reiff got hurt, they needed depth.
