Duke Dawson came pretty close...It factors in when he’s in his 2nd year. 2nd round picks don’t get cut in year 2 unless there’s extracurricular stuff involved.

People forever killed Sony Michel about that, when Michel ended up being a decent addition who played a key role in them winning a title. He didn't asked to be picked there, but he did a decent job for the role they put him in while he was here.Where he was drafted should have nothing to do with it. That's a sunk cost and shouldn't factor in it.
Is that a rule I missed? It factors in when he’s in his 2nd year. 2nd round picks don’t get cut in year 2 unless there’s extracurricular stuff involved.
when you have Brady, who won 12 games throwing to Josh Boyce, Kenbrell Tompkins, "largely not drafting them or not drafting them early" can work, as Brady proved. But since Bill the GM chose not to keep Brady, we've seen nothing but jags being jags and draft busts being draft busts at One Patriot Place. The track record of drafting WRs is largely not drafting them or not drafting them early.
The result of that strategy is the winningest 23 year run in the history of the sport.
Perhaps rather than whining about WRs that would lead you to understand that drafting WRs isn’t as important as you think.
But that’s just me, I see success, I say whatever happened worked. You see success and you find the flaw that was overcome and act as if it was a horrendous curse.
Certainly not a rule but it’s a reality 95-99% of the time. I think we keep 6 WRs going into week 1:Is that a rule I missed?
Yes, it seems that our #6 WR Thornton is likely to make the 53. And yes, in-season IR is a possibility whenever we need the roster spot enough.Certainly not a rule but it’s a reality 95-99% of the time. I think we keep 6 WRs going into week 1:
KB
Parker
Juju
Boutte
Douglas
Thornton
If Thornton gets IR’d, then we’ll keep 5 WRs on the active roster.
A couple of WRs will be stashed on the PS as usual.

Third QBCunningham?
Your lips to Gods earsI wouldn't say it's fair to say Boutte has shown more than TT.
TT's big catch vs.HOU was legit. It was much more than Boutte's TD slant. I'm not saying Boutte won't end up more productive than TT, but at this point, they're both worthy draft picks to try to develop - which is the ultimate goal.
They absolutely will keep 6WR's on the first 53.
Thankfully they have enough ST only guys they can hide away, and then move 1 WR to IR-dtr if needed.
An added bonus from being panned lately, is we have a relatively unknown bottom roster, where we can stash PS guys that no one is watching.
Cut after his third training camp, after playing two full regular seasons with the Pats.Darius Butler was a second rounder we cut ties with
It was a bit surprising at least to me.Cut after his third training camp, after playing two full regular seasons with the Pats.
If he sticks to the active roster, I think it will be as QB3. As a WR, the Pats will risk him clearing waivers and going to the PS.Cunningham?
So we agree it wasn’t an issue during the Brady years.when you have Brady, who won 12 games throwing to Josh Boyce, Kenbrell Tompkins, "largely not drafting them or not drafting them early" can work, as Brady proved. But since Bill the GM chose not to keep Brady, we've seen nothing but jags being jags and draft busts being draft busts at One Patriot Place.
There has been NO success in Jonathan City the last 3 seasons, and Bill the Coach's 25-26 record is a testament to that. Perhaps if Bill the GM hit on the NKeal Harry or Thornton pick (and I'll throw in Keene and Asiasi) it would be a different story
As you say, every franchise has its ups and downs for position groups. TB12 carrying a barren roster year over year is a myth. The Mac/BB haters always point to the WR rough patch as proof that it was all about the QB. The reality is that Brady was the GOAT who was the catalyst for the historical run that we all enjoyed. If you include WR, TE and RB TB12 played with a lot of talented weapons. During the lean WR years there were good/great TEs and third down backs to help keep the offense moving forward. Brady never had to deal with the complete cluster that doomed the team last year, inept coaching, putrid OL, inconsistent WR and no third down back. Looking forward to this year and finding out if Mac is a franchise QB.So we agree it wasn’t an issue during the Brady years.
Since Brady left we have drafted Nixon in the 7th, Thornton in the 2nd, Douglas and Boutte in thf 6th. I don’t see a player there who is a bust.
Every franchise has down periods, few can attribute it to needing to rebuild after going to 4 SBs in 5 years and winning 3. They have been average through a rebuild. But it must be the wide receivers right because they get the fantasy football points.
He is no less a prospect today than the day he was drafted.Assuming health Tyquan is making the 53, he had a good offseason.
