[Mod Edit:] Board Issues/Reaction Issues Thread

Dude, you've posted 60,884 messages, so god bless you, but don't lecture me on finding something better to do with my time. I've only got 55,000 less posts than you.

Secondly, I don't like the ****ing emoji, get over it. I stated my case on the matter, I wasn't looking for a discussion about it.

Thirdly, you want me to stfu but you reply to my posts as much as anybody. So what god damn sense do you make? None really. And 98% of the this board doesn't want me to stfu either. A much higher percentage than you're willing to admit agree with many arguments I make regarding Brady, Belichick, Mac, etc.

The Team Bill crowd is vocal and defensive. Can't take the criticism. Just want to cuddle up with IBWT and live in fantasy land. The fact is Bill's history as a GM and HC is riddled with mistakes too. Major, season altering mistakes. He possibly made a franchise altering mistake just last season. You count images of Patricia to fall asleep at night but for everyone else he's a nightmare. Bill's doing and see we'll how badly it may have screwed up his young franchise quarterback this season. But if Mac is ruined or he doesn't ascend to top 10-12 quarterback play then Bill is going to drift into retirement like a fart in the wind.
Belichick vs Brady has been beaten to death and like I mentioned earlier, it’s like the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” - just because you can connect every discussion to it in some way doesn’t mean you should.

We have a new season coming up and unless you’re going to have productive discussions about that rather than rehash the same arguments, it’s going to be a problem and people are tired of it. Myself included.

It’s been three years and it’s about to be four.

Let. It. Go.

Not saying Bill doesn’t deserve criticism, obviously he does, especially after last season. At the same time, what’s done is done and at least they’re heading in a better direction than they were at this time last year.

All we can do now is see how this season goes since, when it’s over, it’ll be added to whatever ammunition - positive or negative - people will have. But let’s at least get through the season first.

You talking to just me? Or the many other members also investing time in these discussions that you want to knock off the main forum?

I get it more when the season starts but there's an organic quality to these threads and in the offseason I can see why there's a tendency to drift into the broader topics/debates. People will talk about, and respond to, what they're interested in... isn't that simply how it works? Obviously this is your forum so you can run it whichever way you think is best and the members will have to accept it.

I just don’t think every thread needs to organically go down that path. We’ve already covered most of this in dozens of threads. I’m speaking to you because you asked, but just addressed someone else in a different thread about this topic.

So yes, I’m asking us to move past talking about Bill/Brady, etc. We have a brand new year coming up with plenty of other things to discuss. We don’t need to argue about the same things all over again.

Seems like a healthy volume of members who regularly engage in these repeated similar topics. That should tell you something. There's enough interest there to sustain the interactions. Especially in the offseason. Things will organically change in a couple of weeks. I don't see the point in forcing the shift through Moderation. But I understand it's not up to me. I'm just given my POV.

You realize there are literally dozens of other threads (which aren’t locked) already about this that you can go back into and talk about it?

That’s the point I’m making. It’s been discussed. If you want to keep talking about it, go find a thread and do it there. We just don’t need any further new ones about it.

Ian, you're a saint and, if you want to spend your time explaining to spoiled four-year-olds that they should play nicely and share their toys, that's your business.

I'd just say that, just as in economics "bad money drives out good", so on discussion boards bad posters drive away the good ones. That this thread -- a thread where Ian, the owner of the board, explains how he wants people to behave, for goodness sake! -- should turn into a slanging match tells you all you need to know.

Just ban 'em, say I.

Again, it's not a me issue, it's forum issue, if you want to call it that. The Volin thread is currently your most active new thread by far (and multiple pages were added to it with me offline). How is that a problem?

The fact you’re taking it as a “me” issue tells me you’re self-aware enough - especially since you’ve taken offense to every mod feature I’ve added worried about how it will impact you - to know that you’re among several who fall into the category who rehash these arguments.

Trying to be super patient, and you’re making it tough.

Why would you care? You are a grown man complaining about an anonymous person rating your anonymous post on an anonymous message board. Get some perspective. Touch some grass.

Touching grass gives perspective? Interesting.....

Arguing with the guy that owns the site about how he runs HIS freakin' site. Talk about patience.

I will say its frustrating when I see a poster apparently screaming at clouds because they are in a pissing match with someone i've got on my ignore list.

Patsfans is obviously Ian’s site. He makes the rules. Don’t like it …then leave. It’s just mind boggling to me that people come here and continue to break the rules in some Karen entitlement way and are not booted. I’m sick of people taking advantage of Ian’s kindness.

Allow strangers into your home and let them do whatever they want. Let’s see how long your patience lasts.

Not everything is an argument, I'm not trying to be difficult, and I'm not telling anyone what to do, what to read, what to post, how to respond, or which emoji to use. This isn't difficult... you read a post, you react or respond to it, or you ignore it and move along. Then other members read your post, they react or respond to it, or they ignore it and move along, etc. We shouldn't need more and more mod features to regulate organic interaction.

Maybe you don't understand, so I will spell it out. Everyone is sick of your incessant Tom vs Bill diatribes. It's not an organic when you take every subject and somehow make it about Brady vs Belichick. I used to think it was you trolling, but I have since changed my mind. It's your obsessive compulsion. You absolutely have to do it, and now you've decided to quote me, even though I have you on ignore. Ian has been far too patient with you, as has Ross. I have the luxury on not being a mod, so I can engage you as I see fit. So, do everyone a favor and STFU about Brady v Belichick. Furthermore, if you don't like how Ian runs his site, log out and move TF on.

Nobody cares about you and your issues. Grow up or leave.

The having been "patient with me" isn't entirely true. I won't get into it but a false accusation got me banned from the forum. If I wasn't so insistent about the inaccuracy then I probably wouldn't be here now (I suppose to your delight).

That said, I think in the aggregate @Ian generally does a great job with the forum both as an admin/mod and member. I get he can run his site as he sees fit but I also think it's fair for members to voice their opinions (concurring or dissenting) and they shouldn't be muted (unless they're being purposely offensive).

Otherwise, I respect you as a poster, and it's unfortunate you have me on ignore (which is weird since we're talking now), but you don't speak for "everyone."

You also don't speak for everyone. Lots of egos in here. Grow up or leave... on who's authority? Yours?

I don't recall thinking you're a jackass but you've convinced me here.
