Jack Jones News Update Thread

I used football players as roll models for all of my kids growing up. NOT
They are entertainers, they are professional athletes, I don't really care what they do when they aren't playing football any more than I care what movie stars do when they aren't making movies, or singers do when they aren't siging.
I can understand why teams get upset when they do things that might hurt their brand, see Bud Light and Target, but lets face it. Who here is going to stop watching the NFL if Mr. Jones is on the team in September.

We know JJ's prints are already in the database.

Question: Why 2 glocks?
Did he not want his first glock to be lonely?
I own two pistols. One's the primary and the other's the backup. No one asked me why I wanted two when I bought them together.

Here's an idea... cut the player so the team doesn't have all of these discussions and debates (which are going to get increasingly contentious and divisive) hanging over their head for the next several weeks/months. Keeping the player is going to be a nightmare for the team.
Seriously? Who gives a **** if certain soft people can't handle discussions and debates? **** them.

You don't cut a guy for a gun charge. Innocent until proven guilty is also still a thing.

Most defendants plead guilty to some lesser charge. It’s his second offense, and it’s MA so I’m not sure what the court will do, but all I’m saying is that we don’t know that he’ll do jail time.
According to the laws that Jones allegedly broke, jail is in the picture as your penalty per being found guilty.

Glad to see Jones' lawyer playing the race card...

Scapicchio also addressed the coverage of Jones’ arrest.

“It’s the social media, and the media, who have turned him into a thug, who have labeled him a thug, with no evidence whatsoever. Because he’s a young Black man, all of a sudden, he’s a thug. That’s what happened here,” she said, before adding “That label that was attached to him through social media almost got him fired, and it was completely unfounded.”
Honestly, not a bad strategy in todays world.

He is being portrayed as a "thug" because he has been arrested for burglary and tried to bring two guns onto an airplane ffs... but the "its only because he's black" panders to the ideology of many especially in a blue state like MA.

Honestly not meant to political. Perhaps there is some truth to this assertion... but at the end of the day we would be having the same conversation about what a boneheaded move this was if it were Mac Jones, David Andrews, Hunter Henry or any other white player on the team...

How else is he gonna do the John Woo flying double pistol jump?

As far as looking at it from a common sense aspect, I don't see how anyone who knows anything about anything would try to carry guns on an airplane. Doesn't make sense. No way you get away with it.

If he's that stupid or arrogant, I don't want him on the team. But at face value, it seems like a mix up or frame job. His lawyer seems pretty confident they can prove he's not guilty.

If Krafty Bob keeps him around, just wait until someone in the fake news asks "Mr. Kraft, how can you keep Jack Jones employed with so many children being gunned down every day by fully aromatic assault weapons with 58 round magazines with flamethrower attachments?"

We all know the player's potential is weighing on everyone's opinion (including the team's). I personally say cut him because the charges are pretty serious, he already has a criminal record, and his player conduct history is poor (including with the Patriots in only 1 season).

Kraft is going to consider public opinion and the overall ramifications on the his reputation and that of the team. The Hernandez situation has forever put the team in the position of being extra sensitive about these criminal matters (particularly ones involving guns/weapons). Kraft has his own prior legal issue that he doesn't want conjured up for any reason. There's an overall history here that is not going to be unrelated to this current situation, which I suppose is unfortunate for Jones, but that's just the way it is.

Belichick has got to consider the distraction element on his team's preparation for this very important season. Everyone has to on point this season and this isn't a good start. It's hard to ignore the noise when it's coming from within and it's in your face. Removing the distraction now and moving forward may be the most prudent approach. I get it - innocent until proven guilty - but that's in a court of law and it will be dragged out and scrutinized for months. In the meantime, people (and the court of public opinion) will be passing judgment on the player, the team, the HC/GM, and ownership. So maybe it's soft in some respect but cutting the player now could potentially avoid a lot of grief.

Seems like based on this, he could conceivably say they're someone else's guns that got put in his bag without his knowledge. Though I'd have to guess they probably have his prints on them, and his prints are certainly in the system after his prior arrest years ago.
You ever been asked "have these bags been in your control throughout your trip? Has anybody put anything in your bag?" I havent traveled in forever -- when do they ask that? Not every trip is it?
No idea if there is even a "Friend"

My guess, he put them in the wrong bag. You are allowed to transport firearms in a checked baggage but I believe it all needs to be declared and it must unloaded. Not sure if ammunition is allowed, however?
Yeah can't have ammo in the gun. not sure about loaded magazines loose vs. boxed ammo.

But [political figure] will get off Scot free for a completely different charge.

For aviation purposes, safest answer supplied from the 1990s rap sensation Heather B

The players ability is an enormous part of the equation. Why would a fan root for cutting a good player? His “conduct history” was missing rehab after he was IRd for the season.

You think that Kraft getting a * is an issue with whether you cut a player? Are you suggesting people should live in fear of people repeating something they did?

What passing judgment are you talking about? “They gave a criminal a serving chance and won more games” is a positive thing.

My instinct is you want him cut, because that will give you something else to complain about and rip belichick for.

I hope that happens because it will make that person look like a moron.

Why would you not want someone on the team because they don’t understand the chances of getting caught with a gun their carryon, or they thought they could get away with it?
What does that have to do with wining football games?

If you're talking to me then I'm not "rooting" for the player to be cut. He put himself and the team in this position. The quickest and maybe in the long run the best decision here may be cutting the player now. Regarding his conduct, the team thought it was serious enough to suspend him (which is a rare occurrence).

You think that Kraft getting a * is an issue with whether you cut a player? Are you suggesting people should live in fear of people repeating something they did?
No, I'm not saying exactly that. I think Kraft fears having to answer a single question ever again about his legal issue. So yes, that for sure. And therefore anything that even remotely could bring up his legal issue he would want to put to rest as quickly as possible.

What passing judgment are you talking about? “They gave a criminal a serving chance and won more games” is a positive thing.
Yeah sure, look, no one is going to turn this into a feel good story about the New England Patriots so you can forget about that ridiculous stretch.

My instinct is you want him cut, because that will give you something else to complain about and rip belichick for.
What?? I'm saying Belichick should cut him. I've said it multiple times. You think I'm going to then "rip him" for doing something I'm on record advocating for multiple times? That doesn't make sense.

Kinda red states and blue states eh?
I live in a Red state and I believe that Jones should serve time.

It just goes to prove that gun laws dont work. This doofus could care less about them.

yep, I've worked with many people that could knock me down with their aroma.

Stupidity and arrogance. The former loses football games and the latter can disrupt a team.

Nigel Bradham got arrested for bringing a loaded gun to the airport in 2016, case ended up being dropped because his defense was "he forgot". The difference is Bradham did it in Florida where they don't care like 39 other states.

Perhaps this is a demonstration that gun laws do work. Don't you believe that this arrest will be a deterrent to others?

Would it really be more effective to assess the federal fine as the only deterrent?
