I know a lot of guys were hoping that Boutte would develop. Not being there is a red flag to me.

Mapu in a LBer number... #52. Do we read into that fact that he's earned that and not stuck with a rookie chitty number?
Not a good look when rooks arent practicing now...agreed.

I know that mini-camp statistics mean next to nothing, but I'm having a hard time reconciling a tweet that says "Ugly day for Mac" followed by one that says, "Mac was 30/32 with 25 straight completions".

Not sure if this was serious or not, but that IS his chitty rookie number. As the third pick taken, he gets 52 (first gets 50, second gets 51, etc).

A lot of WR absence in these practices for a team that had a tragic offense last year, they should be working on every possible rep.

Zappe's numbers aren't bad either with the second string.

Linebackers wear 50's, so I thought that was his number. I mean, Tedy and High wore #54.

And I agree with your "ugly tweet" observation.

Oh it very well might end up being his number, but they give the rookies numbers in the 50's (and 60's if there are enough of them) until they earn a spot on the 53. Then they get their permanent ones. It's a tradition, something about "earning your stripes" and what not. It just happens to also be the typical linebacker range, so it lines up in his case.

Yeah, and I totally get why you don't get EXCITED by those kind of numbers in a camp like this. I'm just curious what could possibly have happened that made him go, "Man, that was UGLY."

Gonzalez-Jones-Jones is a tantalizing top-3 at CB...

Talent wise, I think it's the best three they could have out there. Jon Jones' ability to play some outside means you can rotate Marcus in the slot to keep things fresh. But assuming Gonzo is ready to go from the jump, that's the three I want playing when the chips are down.

Yeah I was very confused. That single utterance of "ugly day for Mac" seems to be the only time anyone said he had a bad day. Almost seems like the guy doesn't know what he's looking at or talking about and posted his take before other people had posted theirs, especially since it was one of the first tweets about practice that was put up. Every other report after that seems extremely positive about both QBs' performances but especially Mac's.

may be a bad attempt at facetiousness....today's "reporters" are really disconnected from the past paradigms of sports journalism. It's all about who's the snarkiest twitter personality these days...

Interesting in the case of Aaron Dropson a guy who sucked as a player wouldn't surprise me if he turns out to be a good Position Coach.

I don't think he sucked - had more than 500yds as a rookie, got hurt, came back, looked good and got hurt almost immediately after his return game and never got back to anything.

I'm a little surprised by this. The Big Guy is close to the very end; but he must feel that he has at least two productive seasons left in him, including this one... I'd be willing to give him a one-year extension through '24, but no longer than that.

Legit. We have some wack weather coming through south central PA right now...

Given the 25 completed passes in a row, makes me wonder if like he started off 0-5/0-7 on passes and a reporter got overly excited at dropping a tweet that'd get hate likes, only to regret it after 25 straight lmao.

Someone later reported that a lot of Mac’s throws were going to the TEs. Maybe the ugly reference was to long-distance throws?
