Still think Marcus Jones starts at free safety. Surprised nobody talks about this possibility. Seems like the best position for him imo. He’s got the speed, tackling and hitting ability despite his size, size wont be abused in man coverage as much as if he played corner. Typically more interception opportunities as a free safety allowing him to use that return ability.

Plus he played all over the place in college, including safety. Always refers to himself as a DB, not a CB

He's too small for Free Safety in the NFL; he's a Slot CB at this level, period... And to what tackling & hitting ability exactly are you referring?

If you're looking for a small FS, then Jon Jones is a better candidate... Better there than back at Outside CB, that's for sure.

I'm a bit surprised at the scarcity of commentary about the LT position from some reporters
What do LTs actually do at OTAs? While I agree that is absolutely a critical question - it's probably more relevant at camp when their role is a lot more than "stand here" in the complete no-contact drills they tend to run in this particular off-season event.

FIFY

Remember that the Cowboys were sanctioned (lost OTAs iirc) because they had too much contact during OTA drills.

There are plenty of great free safeties that are small, I think height is more of a limiting factor at CB than FS.
Off the top of my head: Bob Sanders - 5'8, Tyrann Mathieu - 5'9, Budda Baker - 5'10

Im refering to the tackling and hitting ability he has shown on film throughout college and his rookie season. He hasnt had many missed tackles and hes delivered some big hits despite his size. Brought this up because I think tackling is pretty important as a free safety as the last line of defense. I personally would rather see Jon Jones back in the slot like he played most of his career. I think Marcus, Jon, and Mills could all do both slot or FS though so well see how it goes

That is probably because no one connected with patriots has any intention of having Marcus Jones start or backup at free safety.

Did Belichick tell you his plans for Marcus Jones? They dont disclose that kind of stuff and we havent seen where hes practicing yet this offseason because hes been limited. I know he took a few snaps at free safety in the preseason last year

I love Reiss for 20 years but I have never cared about the ****ing playlists.
The playlist is a complete waste and is so lame. Reiss is so vanilla. People on here complain about Shaughnessy and they used to complain about Borges, but at least those writers had opinions and hot takes.
The playlist is such a lazy attempt at just making "noise"

My favorite part of today was BOB chewing out Boutte for not lining up properly and fast enough.

We didn't have that attention to detail and accountability last year and it showed up on the field big time. So many broken plays.

Can't agree more. Marcus Jones is a slot corner, and a very good one. I see posters wanting everyone else at slot corner other than Marcus - no idea why.

And Jo Jones is FS, or slot corner, or a specialist against small fast guys, or a nickel back, or a back up outside corner. Gonzo and Ja Jones should be on the outside. Jo Jones should be moved around depending on the game plan and is invaluable when the eventual injuries happen.

Reiss >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Borges/Shaughnessy
I met Punchy once in the Haymarket...forget the joint...wait a minute, not in the Haymarket... it was the Union Oyster House. He was ****faced drunk on martinis and running his mouth.I told him to shut his ****ing mouth or I'd shut it for him. He got up from his bar seat and left...without paying his tab. The bartender told me he'd be back the next day and they'd square up...something it seems Punchy did with regularity. I must say he knew the sweet science very well, perhaps because he took so many left hooks over his short pugilistic career.

Shaughnessy suffers from Irish lower unit disease....his shrimp **** has made him a bitter curly haired red head his entire life.

Kendrick Bourne watching that happening to Boutte from the sideline like

Good to see Dropson back in the fold.

OK before this goes any farther: yes Reiss has mentioned playlists in the past... But in this case is was Not Reiss who mentioned them; it was someone named Chris Mason... Don't know if that's Mason's thing or not, but don't blame poor Mike this time!

Yeah, one has a job that’s useful and the others are there to get you to hate listen/read them.

I can't imagine having to navigate the local sports scene as a media member, when 90% of it is based on creating anger and frustration. Being balanced emotionally seems like it is almost against the rules. Reiss did well to go national.
