I appreciate conviction but think you're a little off here. Gonzo is a pup at 20 yo. You're never drafting a finished product nor would you want to at that spot but the kid is not in his final form. Think about the difference in overall strength at 25 compared to 20 or 30 compared to 25. Once you hit 24-25 you're really finished growing but more importantly filling out and ready to take on the world. We have one of the better s&c programs in the country. It's notoriously hard, especially on the lower half so I have no doubt he'll be a specimen in a few years but look and feel different as well.
He's a "chopper" he likes to chop carriers down as opposed to see it, hit, follow through and drive. He needs to use his length a little more. It's obviously not his strongest area but like most of his "concerns" there's not a lot of glaring holes to the point they're real weaknesses.
I'm more concerned about his ability to take advantage and improve in zone as well as tracking, locating against the best the NFL has to offer. And he's inconsistent in those areas again no huge holes.
Hes not DeeboSpoon in the run game but he doesnt have to be. He just needs to be above average and reliable. He might not have that dog in him that Spoon has but you cant teach his blend of range, size, athleticism, versatility, physicality and Smarts.
We don't need a tone setter tbh with Dugger, Phillips, Peppers etc but we did need his "type." Bigger, top tier athlete with a lot of upside.
