Zay Flowers to NE “worst kept secret in the league”

more like worst prediction in the league

Huh? You mean they’re great at finding UDFAs right?
Marcus Jones was pick 85, Jack Jones was pick 121, Joshua Bledsoe was pick 188.

There is no need to use pick 14 on a DB.

fair enough

I strongly prefer and expect an OL or front seven player.

However, if the value isn't there, I could see Bill drafting one of the 3 corners. IMO, it is better to do that to trade down and not get a blue chip player. Of course, there may be no blue chip plyers available, per Bill's board at the time.
There is a huge hole at OT. Specifically LT.

Wynn was a Bust from the beginning and it due time to fix that mistake.

guard, tackle, or safety at #14. can't see bill the gm using a pick this high on a position they won't extend for a big $ second contract

Trade back in the first…

Darnell Washington no matter what. Give me an offensive lineman who is also a WR. Gronk 2.0
I would say that if the Pats traded back, picked Washington later in the first, then traded back up and picked someone like Flowers in the early second, I wouldn't be complaining at all.

I'd be fine with it - love Flowers. I think he's possibly the best WR in the draft if he hits his potential.

That said, there's a lot of guys who fit a very similar mold in this draft who you could take in later rounds... I'm somewhat inclined to maybe double-dip, but they also really need to scoop up at least one TE, multiple offensive linemen, and grab some DBs... and a kicker...

And a Punter, though the guy they signed might work out.

I still think it will be o-line d-line or tight end. Remember for a while there Bill was using high picks on tight ends, I wouldn't be shocked to see that come back again.

Mike Reiss is on board with your thinking. It’s tough to tell with him, but sometimes he drops nuggets like this as a hint of what he’s hearing from the organization.

But not all tight ends are created equal -- some are bigger receivers, others are more like a sixth offensive lineman -- and that’s where Belichick’s history and what he values at the position are worthy of revisiting. A true combination type with elite physical traits is rare in Belichick’s view, which sparked a question to me: Why wouldn’t he consider Georgia’s Darnell Washington (6-foot-7, 264 pounds, 4.64 in the 40) as early as the No. 14 overall pick?

Which NFL draft prospects are best fits to fill Patriots' needs?

Nobody has a ****in clue what BB will do. Two words…Cole Strange. There is a good chance we take a WTF player at 14. It’s just the way it is as a Pats fan.
i think Washington will grab that player

It will be a complete mystery, and most likely a bizarre pick, that’s why I will be going to sleep before our 1st round pick. And I’m almost 100% sure the Pats won’t be picking at 14. I’d be shocked if they select Flowers, it makes to much sense to pick him. Probably trade down and pick DLineman Tuli Tuipuotu or something crazy like that.

Find a WR who gets injured all the time, or goes to a small school or transferred four times in four years.....

That’s who they’re taking
...............or has a scouting report that states "has difficulty creating separation"

Bledsoe has shown exactly zero.

Marcus is our punt returner and HOPEFULLY a potential nickel back.

Jack Jones shows potential as befitting a 3rd round. He will compete for reps as 2nd year player as befits a 3rd round pick.
====================================
So sure, I could see us getting some potential help in the 3rd and 4th round.

Most aren't sure that we have even close to enough quality at CB in 2023.

Folks want to move Jonathan or Mills to safety. Let's say they move Jonathan.
==================
OUTSIDE: Mills, Jones, Wade, 3rrd rounder
NICKEL: Bryant, Marcus Jones

I think that this is nowhere good enough.

You are underselling Marcus and Jack (who was a 4th rd pick). They were two of the best CB picks in the entire draft last year. Marcus behind Bryant? Lol.

How many times are you going to deny that Mills is more likely to play safety than cornerback? You are one stubborn SOB.

I have subjected myself to BC football for years. Since Matt Ryan it’s been an endless string of bum QB’s and horrendous passing games. In twenty plus years I have never seen a receiver there do anything of value. In fact I couldn’t name any.

The fact that Flowers is so talented and succeeds with a bad QB, even at a college level is a good sign. I don’t love his size but the skill is there.
