Bedard - Pats NOT IN on lamar Jackson....

Bedard doesn’t know jack about anything going on with the Pats. He’s got the same sources as Zolak. Can’t stand his pompous know it all attitude either.

The only Pats writers I trust are:
Reiss
Howe
Kyed
Yeah, Bedard doesn’t know anything. I think Breer is a little connected as well, but gets it wrong pretty often. I would be curious if Howe or Kyed have anything on this story.

Bedard is well connected, insightful and knows plenty (he studies all-22). His Tuesday breakdowns of Patriots games on Felger-Mazz are excellent, folks here would be well served to make them required in-season listening.

I do listen to Bedard somewhat often, I like to get his takes on things. I just don’t think he’s very well connected. Apologies if it came off as him being generally uneducated - I was speaking strictly about his connections. I listen to most episodes of his podcast. I don’t always agree with him but it is nice to get his perspective.

Kraft caused this one. Could have said a million different things instead made the claim that LJ wants to play for the Pats which created a media and fan frenzy. ‍♂️

Yes, and we shouldn't be taking it all that seriously. Why? Because Lamar wants to play for ANYONE who will guarantee him $250 million and Bob Kraft wants everyone to think he's cool at age 81 to be buds with Meek Mill. A "media and fan frenzy" that's much ado about nothing.

I've found Bedard as "connected" as anyone re. important Patriots matters; many of his sources are off the record/anonymous, which should be expected under BB's regime. Breer is an example of someone with greater league-wide angles on things affecting New England. All the others offer useful nuggets here and there including Mike Reiss, Tom Curran and Chris Gasper. I don't care much for Ben Volin and am kind of surprised how bad Ted Johnson has become. Scott Zolak should have more to offer, maybe he feels limited by his game commentator gig.

Worst odds to go the superbowl in the Belichick era we need to make alot of moves to keep pace.
Here’s a litmus test: If Myles Bryant, James Ferentz, or Matt Sokol spend a considerable portion of the upcoming season on the 53 active roster you can forget about being over .500.

Or going to the playoffs.

The other teams in our division are too good for flotsam and jetsam on the Patriots masquerading as professional athletes.

Huh? That is no "litmus test." Those are reserve/role players, not "flotsam and jetsam masquerading as professional athletes." Every team has them. They fill important functions and in the case of those three it's a good thing they have experience in the Patriots' system. You're trying too hard to find something negative to moan about.

Troll?

Allen,
Rodgers
Tua with Waddle and Hill
We are marching out Mac when Lamar wants to be a Patriot.
Bringing in a high priced running back isn’t going to change things

This running back you speak of looked pretty damn good throwing the ball against these NE Patriots last season.

he also took dead last in an accuracy challenge at the pro bowl. And not just to quarterbacks

I know it’s the pro bowl, but let’s not pretend that if his legs go he’ll be an effective pocket passer

Lmao pro bowl. Mac also scrambled for an 80 yard TD does that make him a dual threat QB?

more like a coach who did his qb dirty
It feels to me like RK is giving BB a taste of his own medicine.. Mac can be a starting QB in this league isn't a ringing endorsement for your starting QB.

I know BB has always done things to motivate players over the years.. However that was easy to do when you had a lock room full of Alphas and guys that would hold each other accountable..

I respect that take.

Thank you
His enthusiasm is great for the forum in my humble opinion. I enjoy posters that can express thier passion.. We all can agree we need to see some excitement back in Foxborough.. anyway that comes back I'll take!

Being anti-BB, Kraft and Mac must be exhausting. I'm not saying you can't be critical but, man, that's one hell of a way to be a fan.

Precisely the kind of pure crapola that has poisoned this place, which is why I am calling it out. It's supposed to be a FAN site, after all -- something we should be able to enjoy.

He’s not overrated, he’s an otherworldly talent who unfortunately due to his skill set is an injury waiting to happen and probably past his prime by the time he’s 29
Exactly we could end up getting lamar on a contract that is twice as expensive as Zeke and not able to come out of it for 5 years . If patriots have 5 crappy years of no postseason, think about how much loss KRAFT might need to take . Loss of completely filled seats, lack of priketime games, devaluation of pats franchise.

Not worth it especially the guaranteed part . Lamar should not expect more than 2 guaranteed years of starter money . Maybe 3 at max. Watson and Wilson contracts were outliers. Let's see what happens with burrow and Herbert. By shooting for all guaranteed, the players might end up shooting themselves on the foot ad the franchise tag is less costly and gives you 2 additional years.

I believe a former MVP that is only 26 and says he wants to come play here then you have to find a way to explore it as a organization!

You can still win in this league with a good pocket QB, and some good offense players. OL needs work.
Exactly .. we were spoiled with Brady. That's not going to happen and chiefs are lucky with Mahomes and kelce being healthy always . That's not gonna sustain for long.

Last 8 superbowls - Brady (4), Mahomes(2) and solid teams(3) with decent quality play ( Peyton, Stafford and foles)

So now with no Brady and kelce becoming a bit more older ,it is going to be more evenly spread out.

If we need a qb , he has to be as good as mahomes, else a Brock Purdy with 6 pro bowlers on the Team can still do it.

Joe burrow, Herbert and Jodh Allen still have no rings ... so we need patience folks !

The probability of us winning superbowl is better by retaining those #1 draft picks and drafting some difference makers as opposed to building a team with lamar with minimal talent and risk of injury.
