Bedard - Pats NOT IN on lamar Jackson....

He’s not overrated, he’s an otherworldly talent who unfortunately due to his skill set is an injury waiting to happen and probably past his prime by the time he’s 29
Mike Vick wannabes will never win a Super Bowl.

They will run all around and put up impressive numbers though.

Lamar is very talented but IMO he runs too much. I think he will get a serious injury sooner than later. He's something like 6'2" / 215 lbs. Josh Allen is cruisin' for a brusin' as well but he's 6'5" / 240 lbs.

Same article says the Pats are still in on Hopkins and Jeudy

Up and down.
I thought the Pats did a great job gameplanning around his weaknesses it solidified Mcdaniels is an excellent game manager.
Mac has his strengths but too many limitations.
it seems Bill doesn’t love him as his QB.
Was it Captain McCourty who said half the team wanted Zappe?

Now can all you Mac haters STFU already? We are not trading for an inconsistent injury-prone QB/RB.

Worst odds to go the superbowl in the Belichick era we need to make alot of moves to keep pace.

Not saying you are off base in some of your views, but I think 2001 qualifies as worst odds to go to the SB in the Belichick era.

**** can happen.

Of course, Mac isn't Brady. Not even sure Mac is Andy Dalton at this point.

I think BB sticks with the pocket QB vs going after a mobile one. I think BB priority is OL, stick with the pocket QB, and strong D vs going after any injury prone mobile QBs. You can still win in this league with a good pocket QB, and some good offense players. OL needs work.

That is the problem.

It’s Kraft being cheap.
It's not about being cheap the player is on a tag so that means in order to sign him you have to free up enough cap just to make an offer then your offer can be matched. When you consider how big this deal will be and the fact the Ravens could just match it and leave you stuck at an alter with no one coming it's not so simple.

That's a good point. Pats make Lamar a huge offer and the Ravens likely match it... then the Patriots have no Lamar and a rightfully disgruntled starting QB who doesn't think his team wants him. The upside to this risk is big but the downside might be bigger...

I mean how many times since the loopholes are closed have tagged players changed teams? Loophole or not how many times has a QB? I don't really know the answers but I'm guessing one is low and the other might be as low as zero.

These are good points.

I would friendly counter that I don’t believe the Ravens are matching any deal.
It seems they drew that line in the sand.

If he truly wants to be a Patriot then maybe he would settle for less guaranteed than reported.
Some others on this board and articles I’ve read have shown how the Patriots can redo some deals to free up a large amount of cap.

My Kraft is cheap on this deal comment lies in the fact if you can bring in a difference maker an exciting player and you can manipulate the cap to do so.

Plus a reporter said a few months back Kraft prefers to hold on to Mac due to the rookie deal money.

Ok if your quarterback is on a rookie deal and you truly believe in him you should spare no expense to load up around him.

The fact Kraft even brought this up is beyond weird.
If you don’t have interest in him why bring it up my only thought is he did it to show people still think highly of the Pats.

Hey Lamar wishes he was a Patriot.

The fact he publicly said he told meek Millz that hey that is all up to Bill.

As a Billionaire busInessman he has to be a great negotiator and influencer.
So what did Kraft gain for brining it up then putting it on Bill.

It’s so bizarre and badly mismanaged the QB position I am legitimately concerned.

more like a coach who did his qb dirty
Agreed; inexcusable not to let Zappe start that Bears game after the offense looked the best it did all season the previous two games when he was under the helm.

Lamar is dangerously close to becoming another cautionary tale.
Whatever benefits of a "great team player and character-guy" reputation he may have had might have already disappeared.
No player is greater than the team, nor will one be able to extort a franchise - and the owners will keep it that way! (besides Haslam)
His demand for fully guaranteed and apparent size of a deal he wants (with no realism provided by an agent) is going to go bad for him.
Thankfully Kraft & BB are not imbeciles like many fans, and they won't even sniff at this.

Bedard doesn’t know jack about anything going on with the Pats. He’s got the same sources as Zolak. Can’t stand his pompous know it all attitude either.

The only Pats writers I trust are:
Reiss
Howe
Kyed

Just cut the crap. This Lamar charade is nothing more than a big poison pill given false legs by cynically pandering media. If you weren't otherwise ill-advisedly fixated on Zappe and willing to root for Mac to do well, you wouldn't be so "legitimately concerned."

Kraft caused this one. Could have said a million different things instead made the claim that LJ wants to play for the Pats which created a media and fan frenzy. ‍♂️

I hope you’re right.
I see us finishing last in the AFC East.
I hope I am wrong.
