Player Signing Patriots Showing Serious Interest in JuJu Smith-Schuster (Update: Done)

Going to be interesting to see how JuJu and Meyers get on this year, they basically chose one over the other it's the exact same deal.
Juju had a decent season as the WR1 for best QB in the NFL. Decent, not great. I'm not putting big expectations on his numbers with Mac. I like Meyers, he was a good fit in New England, and I think Juju comes with a lot of questions. We'll see how it works out but I'm not expecting Juju to be the WR1. Another domino has to fall into place for this WR room to come together.

There are going to be some tears, they paid JuJu what Jacobi got from LV.

Thats like saying Edleman‘s stats were overrated because Brady threw the ball to him all the time.
If you can get open and catch the ball then give me that guy.
???

Seriously?

I thought we all understood that Brady and Mahomes make WRs better

I quickly checked out the Chiefs message board on Reddit. 90+% of the posters are surprised that the Chiefs did not offer him that deal and the overwhelming consensus is that it is a very reasonable contract for "a player of his caliber", as some their fans put it.

FWIW
Like everyone thought about Meyers.

Meyers haven't put up 1000yds or 900yds yet in a season let's not kid ourselves. Juju did that impressively twice I think Bob made this choice.

Based on what, exactly?

Similar contracts get from under that rock dude.

I’ve got no problem with JuJu…I’m just not confident he is going to be any better then Meyers.
(1) BB obviously was never liked Meyers that much. I mean he played an injured Sanu and Harry over him.
(2) At the very least Smith-Schuster is different. BB probably looked at Bourne, Parker, and Thornton and concluded based on 4 years of experience that Meyers wouldn't move the WR needle over them. At least Schuster might.

He better or it's Zappe time by November.

You're comparing a veteran QB with a HOF trajectory who had 1 subpar season out of 11 to a 2-year QB with mediocre numbers (at best). Of course I think the probable HOFer is going to improve more than Mac with a better OC.

I am comparing the 2023 Russell Wilson (who has been on the decline for several years) to Jones.

Cut Bourne and Parker and save $11m in 2023.

Trade 14th to Cinci for Higgins.

Sign Higgins 5y/$120m $60m guaranteed

WR1- Higgins
WR2- JuJu
TE1- Henry
TE2- Rookie
RB1- Rham
WR3- Berrios
WR4- Thornton
WR5- JAG
Would be nice but not sure if Higgins is legit off the market or that was just GM talk. I'd keep Bourne, he seems like a guy BOB would want to use.

No thanks saw enough of that last season don't need to see any more.

But I agree with the sentiment.

Part of that is correct
It goes both ways
You have to create seperation and catch the ball. Then that makes you a go too guy too great QB‘s
So if Mahomes had him as a go too guy, that speaks volumes

I like Bourne and Parker but if they want Higgins they need the cap space and both those guys become redundant.

Higgins moves the needle.

Love the JuJu signing but it's not going to scare defenses.

Typo aside, this doesn't make as much sense as you think you're making.
Bob obviously thinks Meyers didn't fit his playing style as Rob pointed out. I mean clearly the Patriots could have resigned Meyers if they wanted to lets not beat a dead horse.

He barely outperformed Meyers on an offense with a QB lightyears better than ours.
