I assumed he was going in this direction given his unusual media presence the last few weeks. Still think he can play, even if not at peak level, so I fear this will hurt the 2023 team more than it may appear to others. Great career here, hope he has a long, happy, and healthy retirement.

Aw man. I was hoping for one more year. Will definitely miss him, he was an amazing player and person and it was great to have him his entire career. Hopefully he can do NE a solid with a little restructure and wait to do his paperwork til June to shift his remaining bonus costs partly into 2024.

Dynasty 1 had Bruschi and Harrison as the hearts of the defense. Dynasty 2 had Hightower and McCourty. His leadership and coordination will be missed as much (if not more) than his physical talents in that secondary. Thank you for the Super Bowls Devin! Enjoy your retirement.

Everything you could ask for in a player. Gotta say, he was already pretty high on my list of favorite all-time Pats but that comment about only looking good in one uniform bumped him up a few more spots.

The best football investment I ever made was getting a McCourty jersey when he signed that extension in 2015. Got 7 years of value out of that. Prior to that I got a Bledsoe jersey in 01, a Moss jersey in 10, a Woodhead jersey in 2012.

I went defense and it all worked out.
