NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Super Bowl Game Day Pregame/Game Thread (Eagles vs Chiefs)

He could if the NFL keeps KC as their hero team

NFL and media gave the Pats shoulder rubs for the first 3 super bowls but after that we were turned into a villain franchise for 15 years, with ******** scandals that were running on a 24/7 news cycle during the offseason

KC has child beaters like Hill that the NFL turned a blind eye towards, Andy Reid’s worthless son murders a 5 year old girl after leaving stadium drunk and you don’t hear a PEEP about it from anyone. In AFCCG they got bailed out or three 3rd downs on the same drive and were protected by the refs the entire game

Mahomes is 27, if Andy Reid doesn’t croak then they could legitimately challenge what the Pats did

Goodell was going on about how proud they are of mahomes, and how he joins elite company of winning nfl mvp and SB mvp in same year, etc.. he never acknowledges anything like that for other teams, but you can tell the NFL got their narrative and outcome they wanted

It’s starting to become pretty in your face and sick
I'm getting out just in time.

I should have known better than to engage with your foolishness. Memo was in 2006. It was legal before. Other teams did it. Tom had his best season after they were penalized for taping in Game 1.

Do better.

No, the memo was an interpretation of an existing rule that had been in place for many years. I'd post a copy of it here, but Ian will delete like he did before. So Bill was in violation of illegally taping from 2000-2007. And you're smart enough to know that a memo issued by an NFL exec is not the same as a rule that was in the NFL bylaws and constitution, right? Do you think Goodell will take away a first rounder for a one week rule violation? LMAO

Bro don’t make me bring up SB 42 and how Brady got owned by Eli. @Ian won’t appreciate it. You and crawhammer troll as much as I do. Yet you won’t get blamed.
You're going off topic again. This is about Mahomes. Brady owns him. There's no shame in that, Brady is the greatest QB of all time.

If you didn't get triggered by someone saying Brady > Mahomes then I wouldn't have responded with anything.

He's a great dinker and dunker, and he turned that into an art form. I give him all the credit in the world for that.
Wrong x2. You don't give him "credit." He's a great dinker and dunker but it's far from the only thing he turned into an art form. He turned winning into an art form.

Most Regular Season Wins (251... second is 186)
Most Regular Season Comeback Wins (46... second is 43)
Most Regular Season Game-Winning Drives (58... second is 54)
Most Division Titles (19... second is 12)
Most Postseason Wins (35... second is 16)
Most Postseason Comeback Wins (9... second is 5)
Most Postseason Season Game-Winning Drives (14... second is 6)
Most Conference Championships (10... second is 5)
Most Super Bowl Titles (7... second is 4)

Are they a dynasty?
You need 3 for that no?

I’d argue it’s a dynasty, they’ve been in the final 4 the last half decade, been to 3 sbs and won 2

And they aren’t done.. and we’re going to have to hear the media felate mahomes for the next 10 years worse than they did for Rodgers or manning. It’s bad enough now with the color commentators having to wipe mahomes semen off their face in between drives

Nfl is becoming tough to watch

If you are Mahomes, you'd rather lose to the 2nd or 3rd best QB of all time than a combination of Eli, Flacco, Tannehill, Sanchez, and Plummer. Mahomes lost in the playoffs to Brady twice and Burrow. Both are going to be in the HOF.

Do you really want me to bring up Brady's playoff failures? If I do then you'll accuse me of trolling.
You ARE trolling. Not only are you trolling you (and you are not alone here) keep showing a complete lack of understanding about how the game of football fundamentally works.

The question of who is the GOAT at the QB position is not even a question.....at this point in history. Tom Brady is as it pertains to EVERY statistical mark, from championships, appearances and individual stats.

BUT, as I have said ad nauseum, football is less dependant on individual "stars" than any other team sport. It is a TEAM game, and having a great QB is nice, but a lot of "great QB's don't get to hoist Lombardi's very often. It is HARD to even get to the superbowl, let alone win one. Brady was STILL one of the best QB's in the game and the Pats were one of the best teams, when he went TEN years without winning one

Just think about the vagaries of the game. Mahomes might not have even gotten to the game if not for a roughing call at the end of the AFCCG. Brady might have had more rings if not for about a dozen non calls on the helmet catch play. Officials are not the only random factor that decides games, great plays by individuals, good and bad calls, adjustments, time management, etc all factor into the randomness of the game..

And as an aside on "spy-gate" - It was a travesty of hypocrisy. People forget that it had NOTHING to do with whether it was legal to FILM opponents signals. It was legal. It was all about WHERE it was allowed. Which, when you think about it, is ridiculous. The entire stink about was entirely made up by a group of jealous owners who couldn't explain why the Pats were so consistently good for so long

Ok genius, Brady's not undefeated in the postseason. We all know this.

Do you really want me to bring up Brady's playoff failures? If I do then you'll accuse me of trolling.
I'll help you out. Every time his team lost in the postseason it was a failure. Jacksonville beat the Chargers but lost to the Chiefs this postseason. Not a failure for them because they exceeded expectations even though their season ended on a loss. Once Brady entered the GOAT radar (after 2007), every postseason loss was going to be a failure. That's how it works.

Where you go off the rails is discounting literally every single one of Brady's Super Bowl titles due to "cheating, luck, opponent incompetence, or being carried by his teammates." You're making **** up to formula a disingenuous argument to agitate people. Another example, Brady has an epic performance in SB 52... throws for a record crushing 505 yards with 3 TDs and 0 INTs yet you blame the entire loss on the strip sack. In a game with Butler benched and the defense getting absolutely shredded by a backup quarterback from start to finish. But yet they really lost because Brady got strip sacked. It's too ridiculous to be a genuine argument. So basically you're just trying to piss people off.

this. that’s all it really comes down to. I have a bridge to sell you if you think your favorite sports leagues are legitimate when gambling is involved

NFL generates about 17 billion a year in revenue.. im pretty sure more money was bet on the Super Bowl alone than the NFL generated all year

That was Belichick's point. Thanks for making it. Rule changes must be voted on by all teams.

Every team was taping. EVRY TEAM. Belichick ****ed up by continuing to do it from the sideline as prohibited by the league. The location from which the taping was being done was the problem. Ok, bad on Belichick, the team got punished. They won 3 more Super Bowls after Spygate (and the even more ridiculous Deflategate). There is no proof that the Patriots benefitted in any significant way from any tapes. The league did not conclude the Patriots had gained any competitive advantage from the tapes. They punished them for the manner and location of the taping.

No doubt, I’ve never seen players as wide open as this KC offense. It seems like Reid can take an average wr group and scheme them open all day.
It was good coaching.

Sure, Brady is the most accomplished QB ever. No one is disputing that. Mahomes will ultimately torpedo most if not all of Brady's records. And we'll see how many rings he ultimately gets. And you and the others on this board will do nothing but blame the officials for helping him.

BUT, as I have said ad nauseum, football is less dependant on individual "stars" than any other team sport. Of course. I can list all the lucky instances that helped Brady and Mahomes win their rings. I can list the countless teammates and coaching that were instrumental for both of them. If this is the case, you agree that a GOAT QB in football is nonsense talk, right?

Pretty clear you don't understand the rules that were in place at the time. The location issue had nothing to do with video taping SIGNALS. It may have had to do with videotaping other elements of the game such as down and distance and formations. I don't want to post the rules again like I did in another thread, since Ian will delete it.

That was Belichick's point. Thanks for making it. Rule changes must be voted on by all teams.

Except the league interpreted that rule as one that was already in place long before the memo came out. If Bill had questions about it he should have checked with the league office. He said screw them and did it any way and got caught for cheating.

Every team was taping. EVRY TEAM.

Prove it. And before you go on and say the league was just jealous of NE's success, i don't see that same jealousy towards Mahomes, Reid, and the Chiefs right now. Even if they win a few more people won't question their titles. There is nothing but respect around the league for Mahomes being the AFCCG EVERY YEAR since his first season as a starter and three super bowl appearances. The only people who are griping are Patriots fans (for obvious reasons) and fans of the AFCW teams.

Belichick ****ed up by continuing to do it from the sideline as prohibited by the league. The location from which the taping was being done was the problem. The fact Bill was doing it for 7 years straight tells me that it was more than just a little helpful. only an idiot would have his best research assistant in Ernie Adams waste time reviewing opponents' defensive signals for 7 years unless it helped.

The NFL going to 18 game seasons and likely no playoff byes (and probably neutral site Championship Games) is not going to help any team or superstar on a dynastic run. Too many additional chances to slip up, get hurt, lose advantages, etc. Sure regular season stats will jump, but not postseason stats.

Ian didn't delete anything, so I don't know what it is you're talking about.

However, you and I already hashed this out - and there's nothing else to argue. Other teams were doing it, Belichick clearly told Goodell other teams were doing it, I posted a statement Belichick made to the media when they went after him again during deflategate. It's obvious that Goodell, rather than push the issue and potentially see it turn into an even bigger thing with other teams being brought into the mix, destroyed the tapes and said "move along" and that was that.

Let it go.

I would take Jalen Hurts as my QB in an instant... but that last throw...

I mean, if you have legs and you're accurate and have some touch, you can be a QB in this league.

He might have the weakest arm by far of any starting NFL QB
Yea that was an unbelievably bad Hail Mary attempt

Obviously. At least you don’t come here pretending to be something else. Congrats on number 2, or 3 rather.
It does seem like it, but he's been here since 2008. That's a weird time for a Chiefs fan to start trolling the Patriots board. He obviously changed names sometime after you drafted Mac. Do you know what his name was before?

Nevermind. I've just removed @MAC10 from this thread. I can't have an individual promoting spygate in a Patriots forum 15 years later, especially given that we all know what happened and already lived through it once. Fans outside this place have one perspective because they heard what they wanted to hear, we all know the real deal.

Thank god, that dude was literally ruining this thread since the clock hit zero on Sunday.
