Mac Jones working out with Nic Shimonek on his strength and conditioning

You don't know that! every Team needs at least Three QB's in this game Jimmy G would easily win the job he's not competing against much. On Offense ever position except for the Guard Spots should have competition. IF Mac struggles early on like he did last year he'll be on the bench BB won't waste a season at his age sometimes you can tell quickly sorry Tunecribe. They paid a lot of $$$$ for a real OC and better Position Coaches signs of a Team ready to compete I hope Mac get's it his NFL Starting QB future is on the line.

First, you don't know if Garoppolo would easily win the job here. You are speculating based on your bias against Jones.

Second, Jones won't struggle like he did last year. He may never become a franchise QB, but there is little doubt he will be better than he was last year. And by most accounts by people who watch the tape, Jones played well down the stretch anyway.

First Jimmy G is a Superior QB to Mac Jones much better mechanics If Mac's ceiling is Jimmy G I would be happy. But you're probably telling yourself that Mac is better QB to each his own. Mac Jones played ok down the stretch: ok didn't get us a playoff berth ok didn't win us the Raider or Bengals game.

We do not know if Jimmy G is a superior QB especially at this point. We have no real idea where Jones is at this point. And we have no idea where Garoppolo is after yet another significant injury. And we do not know how good Garoppolo is now since everyone looks good in the 49ers' offense other than the guy they spend three first round picks to get.

And Jones would be given the edge in any competition because of his age and salary. Jones has the potential to be the franchise QB. Garoppolo would be a short term stop gap.

And as Evan Lazar tracked, Jones was among the top QBs in big time throws down the stretch. And everyone who watched the game film said he played far better than he looks on the TV broadcast shows when you see the routes ran and the coverages.

But Garoppolo isn't coming here. He is going to be handed the starting job with a starting QB salary with the Jets or Raiders. And the Pats are not going to give up on Jones until they truly know what they have which would take this upcoming season to find out.

The only way Garoppolo is with the Pats next year is if the Pats trade Jones before the start of free agency. The only way I see that happening is if McDaniels is willing to give up the #7 pick for Jones.
By your logic if Mac Jones is worth the 7th Selection then Brock Purdy is worth the #1 overall. I think even McDaniels knows Mac Jones have limitations and mechanics Issues I see the Raiders possibly going after Jimmy G with their superior talents on Offense.

I am stating the Pats are not going to give up on the Mac Jones at this point unless they get a first round pick. I didn't say that Jones was worth the #7 overall pick, but McDaniels is the most likely to give up a first rounder. If another team was willing to give up a first, the Pats may or may not be willing to part with Jones depending where in the first the pick is. Unless, someone is giving up a top 10 pick, you are likely not going to get a better QB in this draft than Jones.

Well that's not how it was interpreted initially newsflash no Team is giving up a First Rounder for Mac Jones after last year so keep dreaming.

Probably not unless McDaniels thinks he is worth it. But the Pats are not going to give up on Jones for a second round pick or less. That is why he is going to be the Patriots starting QB next season.

He won the job as a rookie, won it again as a sophomore… he will get the first shot in 2023.

He "won" the job over Axel & a 4th-round rookie last season... Whoop-de-damn-doo...

After seeing how he kept his sanity under Patricia/Judge they might offer TWO first-rounders

He has played well in stretches, last year he played well in a horrible coaching environment and scheme, outside of throwing a couple picks a game. Imagine if he had a very good coordinator, what then?

Of yeah, I forgot I was talking to the Captain, he can only imagine the worst possible situation and tells us even our good players suck.

The Pats have two good QB prospects, two chances to get it right and will have a great situation around those two. Take your zoloft.

Why even bother trading Mac Jones? He's in the third year of his rookie contract and only costs the Patriots $4.2 million for 2023. Even if they go out and get a veteran who could start, Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe make for solid depth in the QB room.

It is not at all clear that Mac Jones is a franchise QB. He had a good rookie season, declined and clashed with his coaches in year two. He's got a .500 record as a starter. He's not even Andy Dalton at this point in his NFL career. If there were a trade, the best one could hope for in exchange for Mac Jones is a fifth or sixth rounder and a maybe a mid-level veteran. He's got two years on his rookie deal which makes him financially attractive, but if you're the GM of the next team, your still looking at a huge question mark.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the offensive coaching staff being overhauled with a proven OC and upgraded positional coaches. I'd like to see the Patriots bring in a guy like Derek Carr and let the three of them compete for the starting position now that Bill O'Brien will be have a big say in who to keep.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Patriots need to make big improvement on the offensive line. Use the #14 overall pick to get the best guy on the board and got get a free agent starter with the cap money they have for 2023. Ideally a G-C and an OT who are ready to start to give the QB and that great RB group the time they need to do their best.

If Jones is the back up, they have to trade him.

Derek Carr definitely isn't coming here. He has plenty of teams that will hand him the starting QB job without competition. He isn't coming here to compete with Mac Jones. Plus he isn't coming the Patriots after flaming out in the same system in Las Vegas.

Mac Jones is going to be the starter. People need to accept that.

I think the FA and draft selections will be very interesting. Clearly an emphasis on speed last year in the draft. Everyone thinks a tall shutdown corner, WR and OT, and then maybe the Pats chose a TE at #14 . I think the Captain said that T Brown is a huge hit on the salary cap, so maybe they let him go and then add $5M more from their cap space and sign McGlenchey, or equivalent. That plugs one hole. Wynn is gone. We draft a LT and maybe a later round backup tackle to go with Cajuste or McDermott. It will be interesting to see where the Pats spend the FA monies, and what draft choices they think are important. I think there is more of a "win now" attitude than last year.

12M is not a "HUGE" hit on the Salary Cap. Cutting him and creating another hole doesn't make a whole ton of sense. Not when the Patriots have enough money to sign an OT w/o doing as you suggest. They can STILL draft a LT in the 1st since Brown's on the last year of his deal.
Cutting Trent Brown only saves you about 7M because of the Top 51 rule.

In all honesty, it would be better for them to sign Orlando Brown, kick Trent Brown back to RT, draft a CB in the 1st and then an additional OT in the 2nd and groom that OT to take over for Trent Brown after the season is done or in the event of an injury.

I also agree that a Later round OT is in order to fight with Stueber for the 4th/5th tackle position on the team.

According to reports, Carr is rumored to be potentially heading to New Orleans.

People are still beating this "get rid of Mac Jones" drum? Jones looked promising in 2021 then we hired bluto the buffoon and Judge to learn on the fly and the entire offense went to garbage. So now because Mac struggled poorly in that situation we should dump him?

What benefit does that give to the Patriots? First off he's on a rookie deal, second off the coaching was so bad last year and we didn't run an NFL offense that you don't really know what you have with Jones. And Third NO team dumps their rookie QB draft pick after 2 seasons. Even the Jets arent. To get Jimmy G and pay him $20-30million? These are horrible takes on this board.

Say the pats dump Jones he goes to the raiders and looks good in an actual NFL offense with actual offensive coaches. The same posters here would say how much of a failure Bill is.

Ownership/bill (and the media) has clearly made the determination that coaching was a total disaster. So, most likely and reasonable scenario is you fixed the coaching staff/coaching. Now you go out in free agency and add talent to the roster. And give Jones every chance to regain his form from 2021 and hope bluto the buffoon and Judge didn't break him.

that's not saying Mac will be a franchise QB. He may not. But this idea that you dump a QB after a poor 2nd season with a disaster around them is just a horrible hot take. Everything will play itself out.

if teams ran that way towards their rookie QBs then Tua and Jaylen hurts wouldn't still be with their teams. Neither would Josh Allen. Heck Trevor Lawrence should've been cut with how he looked under urban meyer.
