Nick Caley to the Rams

Except for HH posters blaming Caley for the ineptitude of the TE position is misinformed.

He hit a glass ceiling here. Same as Pepper and others. End of story.

Hunter Henry posts here? I wonder what his handle is...

The coaching brain drain is a huge factor in last years crazy decisions. I just read that Steve Belichick is the only position coach remaining from the 2018 super bowl. Josh's poaching and retirements decimated the offensive coaches last year. Keeping Caley was likely about continuity as much as talent. If it is true that he refused the OC job without a title, he missed an opportunity.

I wish he had kept Bricillo & Hardegree, and for the same reason.

Him leaving was obvious as the media reported long ago.

Reasons why Caley is a bum:

1. He was the longest tenured offensive coach but that's because Bill liked to throw pencils at him during meetings;
2. Caley couldn't develop LaCosse, Izzo, Asiasi or Keene despite all being blue chip 1st round talents;
3. Even if the rumor is true that Bill offered Caley the de-facto OC role, it was probably on April 1st;
4. Teams only requested to interview Caley to meet the Rooney Rule;
5. Pats only interviewed Caley for OC so Bill could throw a pencil at him one last time;
6. Rams were the only team to offer this bum a job because they didn't have anyone else on staff smarter than him that knows offense;
7. Dude is 40 years old and hasn't done ****. At that age Bill was having a successful career as HC of the Cleveland Browns.
8. He's going to regret not doing everything he could to stay with the Patriots. **** him.

I don't think it would have made a difference.

Bill and Fat Matt were running the offense, Judge was pissing off Mac and Archord was blowing up special teams (injuries didn't help)

That was the season right there.

What is with the hype surrounding Caley, anyone know? I feel like I keep hearing his name with little understanding what makes him a sought after name.

You have to know how things work with the media. When you see them hyping someone like Caley for little to no reason considering his lack of demonstrated accomplishments, it’s a pretty good sign that Caley is a “source.”

Still think Mac could've handled things better this season if he had Hardegree sitting next to him, if only as a buffer between him & the two incompetent, unqualified slappy Failures...

Thank you. I knew I forgot one:

9. Caley is a rat.

Well, he interviewed with the Jets…. that is a deal breaker for me!

Nice knowing you, Nick! Don’t let the door hit your butt on the way out!

========

Any word on Cam Achord interviewing for a ST position with the Jets? Two KORs for TD’s….buck stops at the boss!

Mac and Judge needed a lot of buffers....

Secret footage between JMD and Caley after he accepted the Raiders job.

Not that I'd dismiss the Herald story or anything (not even close), but it would add a layer that I think a few of us hadn't considered if the main source is someone as disgruntled and who feels as slighted by the P&J situation as we believe Caley to be.

So why would Caley agree to the article if anyone knows it’s because he is a source? It’s the opposite of trying to be anonymous

Maybe blocking Caley from LV wasn't so much about Caley as it was telling Josh enough is enough with the poaching.
Nothing like playing with people's lives just to be spiteful. Doesn't speak well of Belichick if that's the case.

Add to that the sub .500 record the last 3 seasons and no longer being the top dog in the division.

With no playoff wins there's less green balls to go around.
So he moves to a 5-win, last place team?

Big deal. His body of work is out there and on full display. TEs haven’t been good or relevant All the gnashing of teeth can take a break.

Add to that the sub .500 record the last 3 seasons...

Sub? The Pats are exactly .500 over the last 3 seasons, 25-25. The very definition of mediocrity.
It just feels worse because of what we've grown accustomed to.
