Yeah that was poor coaching. If they lose by 7 or less he’s going to get grilled this week.

Technically, Purdy fumbled but then punched the ball forward. Shouldn't the play end there because it's illegal to bat it/punch it?

The play doesn’t end with an illegal batting.

That aside, illegal batting is a deliberate move. What Purdy did was clearly not deliberate as it was just the follow thru on his attempted pass.
