Any chance Kraft creates some new positions head coach of offense for Obrein head coach for defense for Mayo and pay them both like head coaches?
Kraft can pay coordinators whatever he wants. There is no need for special titles.

That being said, I don't think that it is likely for Mayo is to be given the title of DC and be given direct responsibility over Bill's son.

I agree. There most likely will not be a formal DC position. Pats would need to follow the Rooney Rule, interview Steve, Mayo and two of the dozen minority coaches on the defensive side of the ball that are better than Steve. He wouldn't stand a chance, and it would be viewed as further confirmation of nepotism run amok. Steve remains play caller w/o the DC title imo.

Honestly if they hire Caley im going to lose my mind. So you're telling me that you searched the entire NFL and college coaching ranks and the best candidate was under your nose this entire time?

So we had the best OC candidate in the organization this entire time, but we rolled with a complete dumpster fire setup of Patricia/Judge all season instead? If he is so talented, why wasn't he considered for 2022? Did he learn so much under Patricia and Judge that he is now an ideal candidate

Anyways, rant over...

Would be way worse if he goes to the Jets and the offense looks amazing.

That's what you call resting on pass accomplishments thinking the league hasn't caught up. BB have to come to the conclusion that we have fallen behind the rest of the League. The Patriots are no longer the smartest Team in the NFL.

They are a competent QB away they have all the other pieces It wouldn't shock me if they went after Jimmy G they have Offensive talent that he can win with.

Option A) Caley gets the OC job - why didn't Bill put him there in 2022? We got Patricia instead? Does not compute
Option B) Caley gets the OC job in NJ and looks good - Bill blew it
Option C) Caley gets the OC job in NJ and looks bad - 4D chess, Bill set it all up to send a bad OC to a division rival and set them back further, ultra genius move
Option D) Caley just stays here as the TE coach again and nothing happens, or leaves to become Josh's TE coach - well, that's boring

Caley is a McDaniels disciple our Offense would looked similar and would be much better than that garbage we displayed last season.

Would be fine with McCardell or O'Brien. Hope if it's either they try to bring Doug Marrone in to coach the OL. They both have history with him.

He's definitely not the best OC candidate in all of the college/ NFL ranks. That's a given.

The advantage he has over every other candidate is his familiarity with the playbook. It was rumored nobody knew the playbook better than Caley and the reason he should've been considered as play caller last season. Apparently Bill didn't want to risk losing him this season, thus having Mac deal w/ 3 different OCs in 3 years.

So, I agree with you, this makes no sense. Should've been done this past season. Unless he's one of the minority candidates for being black irish.

I think Caley is gone as OC somewhere else.

If Bill hires Caley that would be a colossal blunder. Pass over him last year for a former DC only to give him the job the next year? To me that would read as Bill checking a box and there would be no chance Caley would stand up to Bill and Bill keeps doing whatever he wants.

Crap, I guess there's an Option E and F...

It also keeps Patricia in the mix as an advisor working behind the scenes.

That's why I'm against BoB or anyone that's a FOB. Bring in a coach with new creative offensive schemes and scrap the playbook that was built around Brady. We don't have Brady anymore. Time to move on.

Brady was the system here, but we have always ran the Erhardt Perkins offense...or some variation of it for 20+ years now. The advantages of that offense are taking what the D gives you, simple terminology, and using the same personnel in different formations. BoB runs a complicated version of it and managed to go above .500 with the Texans.

BTW, Adam Gase runs a variation of EP as well.....and in 2013 set the all time offensive scoring record.....

This is my ideal scenario. I don't know why Bill can't branch out and find someone new and why it always has to be a FOB. The only silver lining with a FOB is the offense would be similar to what Mac had his rookie year so he wouldn't necessarily have to learn 3 offenses in 3 years but I would still rather have an innovative offensive mind than someone who Bill has golfed with on Nantucket.
