It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Paying coaches to stick around even though they don’t actually have the responsibilities to warrant that pay or title isn’t a healthy situation for anybody involved. O’Brien could work his way up to a McDaniels type of OC role (reportedly $4-5M per year), but that’s probably going to take a confirmed HC offer as leverage. And even paying McDaniels low HC money to be OC didn’t stop him from taking better HC money to be a HC. Given that Belichick is always going to be the top voice on defense, I can’t see anybody warranting a bigger role than combining AHC and DC, but it also looks like those two roles (with or without the titles) are going to be split between Mayo and Steve.Any chance Kraft creates some new positions head coach of offense for Obrein head coach for defense for Mayo and pay them both like head coaches?

If anything, I’d watch for upgraded titles for the level below that. Reiss has hinted at an O’Brien and Doug Marrone pairing enough that I’m getting suspicious that he knows something, but it would probably take something like a run game coordinator title to have any chance of getting him out of New Orleans if he is under contract (I don’t know if he is). They would essentially be saying that he contributes more to the running game than a typical OL coach, which makes sense given his experience as OC and HC.

I remember McCardell the player great player for the Jaguars many moons ago. I would love him as WR Coach with a huge bump in salary. My guess is McCardell is to fulfill the Rooney Rule requirements and could be possibly be a back up if O'Brien and/or other candidates don't work out. I seriously doubt he is a strong contender. Belichick has a relationship with McCardell from when they were both in Cleveland. I assume this is doing McCardell a solid.
He played for Belichick as a Cleveland Brown. So he has familiarity with our offense.Anyone know anything about McCardell other than that he was a really good receiver in his day? The vikings offense is good but it's not really because of anything they do schematically they just have the best receiver in the league and one of the best RB. Maybe a guy like McCardell could help the Pats end their dryspell of developing receivers.

Good question.Interesting. They have some pretty good WRs in Jefferson, Thielen, and KJ Osborn is pretty good too. I wonder how much impact McCardell has had in developing them.
It’s only his 2nd year with the Vikings so I expect his impact on Thielen to be minimal. He spent 2017-2020 as WR coach with the Jaguars.Interesting. They have some pretty good WRs in Jefferson, Thielen, and KJ Osborn is pretty good too. I wonder how much impact McCardell has had in developing them.

Caley get interviewed too.
Yeah if he was good enough he'd have been OC already. What has he done this year to elevate him to OC, other than make our TE's regress? Pass.I'm not on the Caley for OC train. What has he done besides been coaching with the team for a while? I feel like he personality is not strong enough with Bill around to be OC. I'm not sure players would be excited about Caley running the offense either. IMO the position should go to someone who has HC or OC experience.
Lol so now we will interview him for the job instead of last year when we chose a defensive coach over him?Nick Caley is also interviewing for the job.
