If Mac and BB have irreconcilable differences, what is Mac’s trade value?

I’m not for or against moving on from Mac. I’m against poor asset management, which has been an issue for a while. I sincerely doubt anyone gives up more than a late 3 for him right now, while after last year it would have been a 1.

If he isn’t the guy long term, draft someone else to learn for a year, bring in a competent OC to help Mac have a better season and THEN trade him next offseason after improving his value.

Why sell low if you don’t need to?

To clarify, this is not me saying let’s move on from Mac. This is just playing out the scenario that both sides sour in the relationship and the team decides on a fresh start.

What would we get in return? If I had to guess, a 2023 second plus another conditional pick in 24 based on playing time/performance would make sense.

Best fit would seem to be Tampa. Tampa will not be in a position to draft a premium QB, and are in a cap position where they will likely need a cheaper option.

Mac gives them that for the next couple of seasons, and they can give him the 5th year if he plays well for them next year.

Mac to Tampa for a 2023 2nd and a 2024 3rd that turns into a 2nd if he meets performance incentives? Just spitballing what a trade would look like.
Joey, are you saying that Mac Jones is a premium QB... Today?

Daniel Jones revitalized his career with competent coaching. Why can't Mac have the same ? Just get him off the bad habits that crept this year and possibly Mac starts to move more fluidly in the pocket and Mac is pretty athletic and is yet to use his legs . He could possibly be 50% of what DJ is as a running QB on collapsed plays and that opens up our plays a lot more.

Our TE contracts and utilization killed our offense performance coupled with phenomenal low grade coaching.

I get the hypothetical and have thought about that too, I would say a second and a third if they were to move him. I'd prefer to keep him and see how he does with a good OC for a couple years, in the meantime maybe draft someone in the later rounds like they have done in the past for competition.

Three pages of speculation now.
We have no idea of what is going on in the mind of either Jones or Belichick...let alone the GM and owner of another Franchise.
And, didn't we learn a long, long time ago not even to try to figure out what the Hooded One is really thinking?
I'll just wait and see how it plays out.

Trade him... Draft a guy in the lower rounds and get jimmy g... Beef up the line
I've been pumping this tire since midway through the season. I would prefer to keep Mac as another quality backup but I don't trust him to be a team player and would worry he would sow division in the locker room.

I have my suspicions that Jones ran to Kraft complaining about his coaches.

Wearing multiple hats they have no business wearing.

A healthy Barkley has been the difference in NY this season. Still, its not like NY is some kind of juggernaut at 9 - 7 - 1.

D Jones only threw 15 TDs. M Jones threw 14 TDs.

Daniel Jones had 301 passing in the Playoffs and is on to Round 2 love his upside.

I would say a 3rd rounder....that is what I think a QB desperate team would give up for a good QB on his rookie deal....

So what! We all spent all year whining about the ridiculous decision to sink this season with inept coaches at their position, so why couldn't Mac? A player is allowed to talk to the owner. But no one can accuse Mac of being a locker room poison. He kept saying the right things in the media, despite some tirades (like Brady did his whole career) he would hug MP at the end of the game... His guys seemed very loyal to him, especially after the Zappe-mania and Bears game. I think Mac will be extremely motivated to vindicate himself across the board next season.
I'm not saying he'll become a top flight QB, but better than average is possible - look at the difference with Allen in year 3/4, Lawrence & D. Jones this year with competent coaches.

True, but it pains me to say that the Giants remind me of the Patriots in the oughts, running the ball, throwing timely, team defense, sound game management. Jone’s running has been a factor also.

Brady going to Kraft is a bad look, but Brady had credibility and delivered the Lombardis.

Jones running to Kraft is B1tch move. Not a Leader and not a winner. It gets real in 2023 for the Bambino. Step and win or GTFO

He's on a rookie contract with zero leverage.

Don't trade him, let him and Zappe battle it out next offseason with a qualified NFL offensive coordinator and let the best man win.

Assuming they find their offensive coach and have another offseason like the last two, this will be a really good team next season.

Mac should have an opportunity to redeem himself in a good situation, or lose the job outright.

Yep. Belichick didn’t lock Jones in as the starter because he believes Jones has to win the job, not because he wants to get rid of him. He may well draft another QB, Zappe could win the job, or he could have a good season, but I don’t think Belichick is we’d to him long term, but Belichick doesn’t get butthurt and get rid of players for no reason.

Why talk about a hypothetical when it has zero chance of happening? You're convinced that there's some rift between BB and Mac and you're looking for people to validate your supposition. Mac is a highly drafted 1st round pick on his rookie deal who wasn't put in the best position to succeed. He's got at least another year or even two to prove it on his rookie deal before the team has to decide to sign him long term or not.

Absolutely, Mac needs this! As far as the OC.. still feel like it's BOB, he's the most sensible fit.. I like that ownership is taking this approach and making it known to the fan base what they are doing. Curran mentioned that internally there was strife over if the patriots should pursue a #1 WR, my guess is the striff came from none other than BB.. after this move that was done with the offense it made me a bit agitated with BB and his approach sometimes! get with the times! We need a true threat teams have to game plan for.

I hope BOB asked those questions during his interview!

So a complete hypothetical is being gatekeeped from even being discussed because you think it has a 0% chance of happening. Am I getting this right?
If Bill still had his fastball he'd have stuck with Zappe and we'd be playing this weekend.

Montana, Brady, Plunkett, lots of QB's spent time on the sidelines. As a player, Mac's totally shown that he has tons in common with Tony Eason and Drew Bledsoe. (NOT a good thing)
